Saturday, September 19 - Honest and Emotional Documentary The Bond That Broke Screens at the New Jersey Film Festival!. Some of the most difficult things passed down through families are the ones rarely spoken about. In The Bond That Broke, director Jeff Mizushima explores this through mother and daughter Kathi Ross-Nash and Dr. Zoe Ross-Nash, whose lives have both been shaped by eating disorders in very different ways. Kathi struggled with bulimia for decades, while Zoe became a clinical psychologist largely because of what she learned about her mother’s experience with an eating disorder. Their stories make them feel like two sides of the same coin.

Saturday, September 19 - Vibraphonist Joe Locke to Honor Roy Hargrove and Billy Strayhorn at West Orange Jazz Festival. The late WBGO Radio personality Michael Bourne hosted an annual "Jazz on the Mountain" festival at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY, for 22 years. In 2013, he asked vibraphonist Joe Locke to perform a solo vibe concert. "Michael Bourne," Locke recalled, "threw the gauntlet down. He kind of challenged me to do a set of solo vibraphone. At first, I said, 'Absolutely not. I can't do a whole set of solo vibraphone.' I did it, and I ended up really enjoying it, and so did the audience."

Sunday, September 20 - Five For Fighting String Quartet Tour to Play Shows in NY/NJ/PA. (NEWTON, NJ) -- Grammy® nominated, platinum-selling artist, Five For Fighting (aka John Ondrasik) will bring his ever popular Five For Fighting String Quartet Tour back out on the road this September and October. Shoshana Bean won the 2026 Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in “The Lost Boys” musical, currently at New York City’s Palace Theatre. Prior to that she starred in Alicia Keys’ hit Broadway musical, Hell’s Kitchen. Her portrayal of ‘Jersey’ earned her a Grammy Award, her second Tony Award nomination, a Drama League Award nomination, and a Drama Desk nomination. East Lynne Theater Company presents the New Jersey Premiere of "Lunar Eclipse" by Donald Margulies. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- East Lynne Theater Company presents the New Jersey Premiere of Lunar Eclipse by Donald Margulies from August 27 through September 20, 2026. In the play, George has been waiting for this night – the seven stages of a lunar eclipse are viewable from the farm that he shares with his wife Em – and she decides to join him in taking in the view.
The Players Guild of Leonia and Kaleidoscope Ensemble present the World Premiere of "The Old Ladies Bar". (LEONIA, NJ) -- The World Premiere of The Old Ladies Bar by Natasha Caroline Lowery Rivers is a co-production between The Players Guild of Leonia and Kaleidoscope Ensemble. Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. Bergen County Players to open 94th season with "The Producers". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Fresh off being named the #1 Theater Venue in Bergen County by (201) Magazine's Best of Bergen poll, the Bergen County Players (BCP) will open its 2026/27 season with Mel Brooks' The Producers. Andrew Serban’s short film Remember This caught me in its visual logic before anything else, prompting me to explore its themes of certainty and ambiguity, which kept me engaged throughout. The black-and-white cinematography feels like a world that presents itself in certainties, in right and wrong, true and false, yet the more I watched, the less I could verify anything. The form and the content are in conversation the entire time, and I found that genuinely satisfying.

The Montclair Art Museum presents the First Major Solo Exhibition in the USA for Canadian Indigeneous Artist Nadia Myre. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Montclair Art Museum presents Nadia Myre: Analog/ues, the first major exhibition in the U.S. celebrating the multidisciplinary work of Canadian Indigenous artist Nadia Myre (Algonquin, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, b. 1974). Featuring more than 40 of Myre's experimental works—including ceramic beadwork, digital prints, videos, mixed media, and textiles—the exhibition invites cross-cultural dialogues about Native and settler histories of North America. The presentation emphasizes her recent work and debuts new, large-scale pieces. On view from September 19, 2026, through January 17, 2027, the exhibition is organized by the Montclair Art Museum, curated by Laura J. Allen, Curator of Native American Art and Repatriation Coordinator, and is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.
Grounds For Sculpture presents site-specific work exploring the nature of time in "Shantell Martin: Past, Present, Future". (HAMILTON, NJ) -- Explore the fleeting nature of time through murals, daily meditative practices and newly commissioned sculptures in "Shantell Martin: Past, Present, Future," on view from September 20, 2026-July 23, 2028 at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS).
