(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre presents Vanities: The Musical weekends from September 23 to October 4, 2026. This musical chronicles the life-affirming journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives to liberated women and beyond.
Vanities: The Musical captures a snapshot-sharp portrait of the lives, loves, disappointments, and dreams of these young women growing up during the turbulent sixties and seventies and reconnecting in the late 1980s.
With a tunefully evocative score by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of ’42) and Jack Heifner’s hilarious adaptation of his long-running Off-Broadway smash, Vanities: The Musical is a funny and poignant look at three best friends who discover that, through thirty years of rapidly changing times, the one thing they can rely on is each other.
The cast includes Gia Chessa (Kathy), Jenna Kuerzi (Mary), and Savannah Wright (Joanne).

Vanities: The Musical premiered off-Broadway at Second Stage Theater, under artistic director Carole Rothman, in association with Junkyard Dog Productions Inc., Kenny and Marleen Alhadeff, Jayson Raitt, Ambassador Theater Group, Dallas Summer Musicals, Remmel T. Dickinson/Linda and Bill Potter, and Sharon Rosen/the Raleigh Rally/ Davelle LLC, on July 16, 2009 in New York City. It was directed by Judith Ivey.

Dion and his music have long represented a special time and place, reflective of a moment when a song could mean so much. When a singer could sum up what it means to be young, in love and on top of the world. Dion is more than a cherished memory as critic Dave Marsh noted, “Dion is the only artist from the 1950’s who has remained creative and relevant into the 2000s.” In 1958 he had three top-forty hits. In 2008 he was nominated for a Grammy. In 2020, is releasing new studio album Blues with Friends, joined by Joe Bonamassa, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons and many other rock luminaries. In the ’50s he was one of a handful of innovators who defined rock ‘n’ roll and that’s still very much the case.
