Tuesday, September 5, 2023 - Monmouth University presents "PAT CRESSON – Taking a Leap – The Power of the Natural World – 45 Years of Creative Work". (WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Monmouth University's DiMattio Gallery presents PAT CRESSON Taking a Leap –The Power of the Natural World - 45 Years of Creative Work from September 5 through December 8, 2023. This retrospective showis a combined visual statement of over 45 years of artmaking. It covers 21 different categories ranging from painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, and digital imaging to sculpture. CRESSON have always been interested in a broad range of art topics, styles and techniques and has followed her heart and not limited herself to just one or two topics, series or styles. The exhibit is free and open to the public, Mondays through Fridays 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Thursday, September 7, 2023 - Premiere Stages at Kean presents "Selling Kabul". (UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages at Kean University will present the New Jersey Premiere of Sylvia Khoury's Selling Kabul September 7-24 in Kean University's Bauer Boucher Theatre Center (Vaughn Eames Hall, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ). Directed by Taylor Reynolds, Selling Kabul will feature actors Atra Asdou, Anat Cogan, Afsheen Misaghi, and Zaven Ovian.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival Preview. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival takes place September 8th through October 8th with screenings on Fridays and Sundays. The festival remains a hybrid one with in-person screenings at Rutgers University and films available via video on demand for 24 hours on the screening date. Nineteen films will have their New Jersey or Area Premiere (Middlesex County) screenings during the New Jersey Film Festival and the United States Super 8 Film and Video Festival.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Vivid's The Flip Side to Perform Improv Show at Madison Community Arts Center. (MADISON, NJ) -- The Flip Side, the house improv team of Vivid Stage, will perform at the Madison Community Arts Center on Friday, September 8 at 8:00pm. The Flip Side features Brad Barton, Clark Carmichael, Laura Ekstrand, Noreen Farley, Lulu French, Dave Maulbeck, Scott McGowan, Becca McLarty, David Lee White and Emaline Williams. This unpredictable evening is an affordable, enjoyable evening that is packed with laughs from start to finish.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - State Theatre presents Tommy Emmanuel, CGP with special guests Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Tommy Emmanuel, CGP on Friday, September 8 at 8:00pm. Opening the show are special guests Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams. Tickets range from $29-$224.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - An Interview with Alexandra Jardvall about Springsteen, Endometriosis, and Performing in Asbury Park For The First Time. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Swedish singer-songwriter Alexandra Jardvall will headline the Endo Warrior Benefit Show at Asbury Lanes on Sunday, September 10, 2023. The music begins at 2:00pm and also includes performances by New Jersey artists Jake Thistle and Chris Fritz. The benefit is presented by Spring-Nuts and will raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis Research and the Endometriosis Foundation of America. We also have interviews with Jake ThistleChris Fritz, and Howie Chaz of Spring-Nuts in advance of the benefit concert.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - The Strollers to Hold Auditions for "Children of Eden". (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Strollers will hold auditions at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts for "Children of Eden" on Sunday, September 10th from 2:00pm-5:00pm and Monday, September 11th from 7:00pm-10:00pm; callbacks will take place Wednesday, September 13th from 7:00pm-10:00pm. This is a musical by Stephen Schwartz that will be directed by Carol Cornicelli with musical direction by Michael Nuzzo.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - Riveting feature Honor Student screens at the Fall 2023 New Jersey Film Festival on Sunday, September 10!. Part thriller and part drama, Tamika Miller’s Honor Student grips the viewer for the full 82 minutes. Monday, September 11, 2023 - The Warrior Mindset: CW2 Nick Lavery to Speak at Grunin Center. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Veterans and Military Resource Center (VMRC) at Ocean County College is pleased to welcome Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nick Lavery to speak at the Grunin Center at 9:30am on Monday, September 11. Lavery will discuss the "Warrior Mindset" philosophy and share his inspirational story of sacrifice, determination and resilience. Admission is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, September 5, 2023 - Portraits, Fire & Pine Trees: New Fall Exhibitions at the Stockton Art Gallery. (GALLOWAY, NJ) -- The Stockton Art Gallery is set to open with two new exhibitions ("A World Lit Only By Fire" and "A Pinelands Portrait: Art of the Pine Barrens") which will run from September 5 to November 12, 2023.

Wednesday, September 6, 2023 - East Lynne Theater Company presents "Love Letters" with a Rotating Cast of Couples with a Connection. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Before East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) revs up its fall lineup, the curtain prepares to close on its summer 2023 Mainstage Season with a six-week run of A. R. Gurney's "Love Letters"– but with a twist. From September 6 to October 14, the play will be performed by a real-life couple with a connection each of the six weeks: three married couples, an engaged duo, and two pairs who share a romantic past.

Wednesday, September 6, 2023 - Princeton University Library commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's First Folio with a celebration of English literature. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- In honor of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's First Folio of 1623, Princeton University Library (PUL) presents "In the Company of Good Books: From Shakespeare to Morrison," in PUL's Milberg Gallery. Curated by Jennifer Garcon, Librarian for Modern and Contemporary Special Collections, Gabriel Swift, Librarian for American Collections, and Eric White, Scheide Librarian & Assistant University Librarian for Special Collections, Rare Books & Manuscripts, the exhibition showcases Princeton’s diverse collection of English literature and many of the writers and readers who brought life to English literature around the world.

Thursday, September 7, 2023 - The Eagles Announce Final Tour; Shows Include NYC and Newark. (NEWARK, NJ) -- After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” will be the band's final tour. Thirteen shows have been initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The tour comes to the Prudential Center in Newark for shows on September 16-17, 2023. The Eagles' long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan, will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Thursday, September 7, 2023 - NJPAC presents Anthony Hamilton. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum soul storyteller Anthony Hamilton will be performing at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 8:00pm. Hamilton has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and been proclaimed a "national treasure" by the Los Angeles Times.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Howell PAL Theater Company presents "Peter Pan": Broadway's Timeless Musical. (LAKEWOOD, NJ) -- Howell PAL Theater Company's second summer musical, Peter Pan, Broadway's Timeless Musical whisks audiences away to a place where dreams are born and no one ever grows up. Performances take place at The Strand Theater in Lakewood on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 7:30pm and Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00pm.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Author Michael Diaz-Griffith to present Book Talk for New Release, "The New Antiquarians". (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) will present Michael Diaz-Griffith in a book talk for his new release, The New Antiquarians, as part of their ART OF series on Friday, September 8 at 5:30pm.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Art House Gallery presents "Disintegration" - new work by Andrea McKenna. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents new work by Art House's own Gallery Director, Andrea McKenna, in the Art House Gallery, September 8th through October 1st, 2023. In this exhibit, which will also be a part of JC Fridays, McKenna will present new work created since January of this year. Her installation is about transcending identity, loss, and the realm of the beyond. The exhibit was curated by Lucy Rovetto.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Novado Gallery presents "Slow Selfie" - Exploring the Art of Self-Portraiture Through Time and Technique. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- In a world where the term "selfie" is associated with quick smartphone snapshots, a new art exhibition at Novado Gallery is set to challenge the status quo by celebrating the profound beauty and intricacy of self-portraiture. "Slow Selfie," a national juried show of self-portraits, invites art enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike to explore the timeless art form of self-representation through different art techniques. The exhibit runs from September 8-30, 2023. Admission is free and open to the public.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Ocean Casino Resort presents Danzig. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Danzig, the American heavy metal band led by former Samhain and Misfits singer Glenn Danzig, takes the stage at Ocean Casino Resort's Ovation Hall on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Montclair Jazz Festival Announces 2023 Lineup for September 9th Downtown Jamboree. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The 14th annual Montclair Jazz Festival produced by the acclaimed Jazz House Kids, has announced the lineup for their 2023 Downtown Jamboree on Saturday, September 9th. This year, headliners include Regina Carter, Antibalas, Steve Turre, Melanie Charles, Person to Person with Eric Person and Houston Person, Edmar Castaneda, Vince Ector, Michael Mwenso and the Shakes, Jazz House Collective and Christian McBride, the festival's music director and curator.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Acme Screening Room to Screen "Make Me Famous" Documentary. (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Acme Screening Room will present a screening of the 80s art documentary Make Me Famous on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 5:00pm. The film documents the Punk DIY artist scene that burst out of NYC's East Village in the 1980s. Following the screening there will be a discussion with filmmaker Brian Vincent, producer Heather Spore and cinematographer John Sawyer.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Jason Didner to Go Electric at Millburn Rocktoberfest 2023. (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Montclair-based singer/songwriter Jason Didner has shared his musical conversations through two avenues since the pandemic: multitrack recordings where he performed and recorded all the vocal and instrumental parts; and solo acoustic shows – virtual during the pandemic and in-person once the virus became endemic.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company to Take Part In Dance on the Lawn. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will be a part of Dance on the Lawn on September 9, 2023 at 3:00pm, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (73 S. Fullerton Ave) in Montclair. The Company will be performing one of Nai-Ni Chen's most beautiful duet, created in collaboration with the world renowned Ahn Trio, Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac, part of their 2015 production, Temptation of the Muses, which toured 7 states across America. The dance will be performed by company members: Esteban Santamaria and Rio Kikuchi. Dance on the Lawn is free.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Bergen County Players to Open Season with "Rent". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will open its 91st season on September 9 with Jonathan Larson's RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning rock musical that shaped a generation of audiences. Performances begin Saturday, September 9 and will run weekends through Saturday, October 14 at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell with shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Pro Arts Jersey City presents "Story Lines". (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Pro Arts Jersey City presents Story Lines from September 9-30, 2023 at Art150 Gallery. Story Lines explores the inspiration behind works by Nanette Reynolds Beachner, Stephanie Guillen, and PE Pinkman in an intriguing group show that explores volatile societal issues, historical events, and personal journeys in trying times.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - Princeton Symphony Orchestra's 2023-2024 Season Opens with Snider's Forward Into Light and Saxophonist Steven Banks. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Symphony Orchestra's 2023-2024 Season opens September 9-10, 2023 with Princeton-based composer Sarah Kirkland Snider's inspirational work Forward Into Light, inspired by women suffragists, and Henri Tomasi's expressive Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, performed by 2022 Avery Fisher Career Grant winner Steven Banks. William Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony, one of the first full-length works by a Black composer to be performed by a major US orchestra, completes the program.

Saturday, September 9, 2023 - 10th and Final Dance on The Lawn to Take Place September 9th. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Dance on the Lawn, Montclair, NJ’s outdoor dance festival, will return for its tenth and final year, "Celebrating New Jersey." Saturday, September 9, 2023 - The Shawnee Playhouse presents "A Good Day" by Eric B. Sirota. (DELAWARE, PA) -- A Good Day, an original and uplifting musical, by NJ-based playwright/composer, Eric B. Sirota, will be presented by The Shawnee Playhouse from September 9th through September 24th. Directed by Midge McClosky, this authentic musical illuminates the therapeutic and healing powers of music, art and movement on the splintered and fragmented lives of two families that are intertwined through past loves and tragic losses. Each unforgettable scene, song and dance highlights the importance of creative expression on the human experience, as the characters attempt to navigate their fractured existences through the incessant ripple effects and impact that Alzheimer's Disease and the loss of a loved one have on those around them.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - Ska Punk International Mini Fest to Take Place in Asbury Park. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- In March 2023, 20 Bands and a podcast got together in Austin, TX for a weekend of live music (and a live podcast) in the time surrounding SXSW. On Sunday, September 10, 2023, musicians from 5 of the bands get back together at La Vision Studio in Asbury Park, NJ for a miniature Ska Punk International (SPI) Mini Fest.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - The Hoboken Historical Museum and Danny Shot host "Red Kalyna: Poetry for a Free Ukraine". (HOBOKEN, NJ) -- The Hoboken Historical Museum and Poet-in-Residence Danny Shot are proud to host "Red Kalyna: Poetry for a Free Ukraine." This literary event will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 4:00pm at the Hoboken Historical Museum, located at 1301 Hudson Street. The event is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook atHobokenMuseum.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - Pat Guadagno and his Lonesome Cowboys to Celebrate the 100th Birthday of Hank Williams Sr.. (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents Pat Guadagno and his Lonesome Cowboys as they host Hank Williams 100th Birthday Bash on Sunday, September 10, 2023. The concert will take place under the stars on the deck at Bell Works in Holmdel. Showtime is 7:00pm.

Sunday, September 10, 2023 - Second Sunday Poetry Reading Features Anna M. Evans and Nicole Caruso Garcia. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, September 10 at 4:00pm. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The September reading will feature Anna M. Evans and Nicole Caruso Garcia. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry
