Second Sunday Poetry Reading Features Anna M. Evans and Nicole Caruso Garcia

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, September 10 at 4:00pm.  The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The September reading will feature Anna M. Evans and Nicole Caruso Garcia. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.

Anna M. Evans gained her MFA from Bennington College and has received Fellowships from the MacDowell Artists’ Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She currently teaches at West Windsor Art Center and Rowan College at Burlington County. Her collection, Under Dark Waters: Surviving the Titanic, is available from Able Muse Press, and her sonnet collection, Sisters & Courtesans, is available from White Violet Press.

Princeton Makes is a cooperative comprised of 35 local artists who work across a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry. Customers will be able to support local artists by shopping for a wide variety of art, including large paintings, prints, custom-made greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety of designs and patterns, and more.

Ragged Sky is a small, highly selective cooperative press.  We work with our authors closely.  Authors retain copyright and we use our experience and professional resources to support the author’s work through the editing, production, and design process.  Ragged Sky Press has historically focused on mature voices, overlooked poets, and women's perspectives.

EVENT PREVIEWS

The initial conversation around Tom McCarthy's 2003 directorial debut The Station Agent was centred on why the filmmaker opted to cast a little person in the lead role when the part wasn't specifically tailored for such an actor. But in Peter Dinklage, McCarthy discovered a star, and Dinklage's performance was so striking that other filmmakers began writing little people into their scripts just to work with him. It wasn't long before Dinklage was being cast in roles that made no reference to his stature. Today, nobody bats an eyelid when Dinklage is cast in the sort of roles a little person would never have been considered for a couple of decades ago.
