MKA Educator and Counselor to Debut New Book at the 2023 Passaic County Book Festival

Story Time Tent, Passaic County’s Book Festival

Melanie Bieber, Primary School Counselor and Tri-Campus Counselor Coordinator at Montclair Kimberley Academy, will be debuting her new book Aaron Daniel Henry Davis: Just Another Day at School at the Passaic County Book Festival on June 10th at 1:30 pm. Melanie will be doing a special reading in the Story Time Tent starting at 1:30 pm.

Aaron Daniel Henry Davis: Just Another Day at School highlights the realities and struggles of school-aged children with ADHD (and similar deficits) and the endless potential that each of those children possess. Melanie co-authored the book with Ralph Pacifico, long-time MKA Primary School Physical Education teacher and varsity baseball coach. Both share a passion for helping children and have joined forces to celebrate those students whose brains work a little differently than most.

“ADHD makes it very challenging for a child to manage thoughts and actions, pay attention, control impulsive behavior, follow directions, and sit still,” said Melanie Bieber, Primary School Counselor and Tri-Campus Counselor Coordinator, M. Phil. Ed, LPC. “By making small changes in the classroom, maintaining open lines of communication and working closely with external professionals, parents and other teachers, we can effectively support a child with an ADHD diagnosis. To that end, we wanted to take our experiences and give them life through a book that many can relate to.”

About Melanie Bieber: Melanie Bieber, M. Phil. Ed, LPC spends her days counseling students with ADHD. The Aarons of the world are Melanie's favorite type of child to work with. After graduating from MKA in 2003, Melanie earned her B.A. in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Maryland and completed her graduate work in Human Development and Psychology and Counseling and Mental Health Services at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Melanie works as a primary school counselor in New Jersey and runs Level Up Counseling & Consulting, LLC, a private mental health practice. She and her husband, Evan, love to share the world of children’s literature with their two children, Zachary and Zoey.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company brings the Tony Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, to the F. Otto Haas Stage this spring. Featuring a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the production is directed by Terrence J. Nolen and co-conceived by Jorge Cousineau and Nolen. Performances begin May 21, the show opens May 27, and runs through July 5, 2026.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "West Side Story"

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents West Side Story, the final production of Paper Mill's 2025-2026 season, from May 28 through June 28, 2026. An enduring masterpiece based on a conception of Jerome Robbins, West Side Story reimagines Romeo and Juliet in 1950s New York, where young lovers Tony and Maria dare to dream of a future together as rival gangs the Jets and the Sharks clash for control of the streets.

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Cape May Stage presents "What the Constitution Means to Me"

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck from June 3-28, 2026. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning constitutional debate competitions across the country. In this electrifying and deeply personal play, she revisits that teenage self to explore how the U.S. Constitution has shaped her life — and how it continues to shape all of ours.
