Linda Erickson received her BA in art and dance from Florida State University and her MFA in choreography from the University of North Carolina. In 1977 she started to work at the New York City Ballet. Besides her role as assistant to the manager, she received special permission from George Balanchine to choreograph on some of the dancers for performances at the School of American Ballet and at small theaters throughout New York City. She also helped found a touring company with principal dancer Patricia McBride.
After leaving NYCB she started The New York Dance Theater, a small professional company with former principal dancer Frank Ohman, that performed in many venues in New York and opened the arts program at the Arts at St. Ann’s in Brooklyn. In the 90’s, she along with Judith Fugate of the New York City Ballet formed “Dance Galaxy”, that toured New England and performed at the Joyce in New York.
After moving to Frenchtown from New York City she choreographed for four years with the “Performance Company of Ballet Classique’. Upon moving to New Hope, in 2013 she founded Europium Dancetheater. This allowed her to form a company what would be more in keeping with her evolving artistic vision from classical ballet to the more avant-garde. This company has been active since it’s inception with live performances on stage and in short films.
