CDC Theatre to Close Out Season with "Fiddler On The Roof"  (CRANFORD, NJ) — The final production of the 107th season at CDC Theatre in Cranford is the wonderful musical Fiddler On The Roof. The multi-award-winning tale of Tevye the Dairyman and his family's struggles in a changing Russia is a true musical theatre "tradition." Performances run weekends from May 1-17, 2026.

The Growing Stage presents "Nate The Great"  (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey is thrilled to present Nate The Great. Based on the book by Marjorie Sharmat with book & lyrics by John Maclay and music & lyrics by Brett Ryback, this vibrant production runs weekends from May 1-17, 2026. In this musical, the world's greatest boy detective awakes, hoping that this day will bring a new case. He gets a call from his good friend Annie alerting him that her new painting of her dog Fang is missing!

McCarter Theatre Center presents "Mrs. Christie" - a new comedy-mystery by Heidi Armbruster  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Mrs. Christie, a witty new comedy-mystery by Heidi Armbruster, from May 6–31, 2026. The production is directed by BOLD Associate Artistic Director Donya K. Washington in her McCarter directorial debut.

Megan Thee Stallion to make her Broadway debut in "Moulin Rouge! The Musical"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers of the Tony Award®-winning, record-breaking Broadway hit Moulin Rouge! The Musical have announced that three-time Grammy Award-winning superstar and actress Megan Thee Stallion will make her Broadway debut in the production as "Zidler", impresario of the titular nightclub. Taking the stage for a strictly limited 8-week engagement, Megan will light up the Al Hirshfeld Theatre from Tuesday, March 24th to Sunday, May 17, 2026, promising an unmissable, moment in the show's legendary run.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "1776"  (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents 1776, the Tony Award-winning musical, from April 1 through May 2, 2026. It brings the story behind the creation of the Declaration of Independence to the stage with witty satire, compelling drama, and a thrilling score. With music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, 1776 follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and their fellow delegates as they navigate fiery debates, political tensions, and personal conflicts in their struggle to unite thirteen colonies.

Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents "Some Enchanted Evening"  (HAMPTON, NJ) -- Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents Some Enchanted Evening from April 7 through May 16, 2026. This is a celebration of songs that have become a part of our lives. We sing them in the shower and we sing them to entertain and amuse.

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of "Wilderness Generation"  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) presents the world premiere of Wilderness Generation, a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award- nominated playwright James Ijames, whose breakout work Fat Ham earned the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and national acclaim. The production, directed by PTC Co-Artistic Director and Obie Award winner Taibi Magar, serves as the final installment of the Citywide James Ijames Pass series and runs from April 10 through May 3, 2026, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.

NJ Rep presents "Sins of the Mother" by Israel Horovitz (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) is presenting Sins of the Mother by acclaimed playwright Israel Horovitz, directed by Evan Bergman, weekends through May 3, 2026. Set in the tight-knit fishing town of Gloucester, Massachusetts, this play follows Douggie, a young man returning home to prove his roots among a group of rugged, fiercely loyal locals who live by their hands—and sometimes by violence. Photographer Andrea Phox was on hand to take photos.

Luna Stage to Present the World Premiere of "& Sons"  (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage will present the World Premiere of & Sons written by Jack Angelo Cummings and directed by Matt Monaco, running April 16 through May 10, 2026. Winner of the Kirk Prize for Best New Play, this is a sharply funny, emotionally hard-hitting portrait of brotherhood, labor, and the ways men learn—often badly—to love one another.

Mile Square Theatre presents "The Mountaintop"  (HOBOKEN, NJ) -- Mile Square Theatre presents The Mountaintop from April 16 to May 3, 2026. This is a gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright–Katori Hall and directed by Jamil A.C. Mangan, the play imagines a pivotal moment in history through a deeply human lens.

The Chatham Playhouse presents "The Drowsy Chaperone"  (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players presents the musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone weekends from April 17 to May 2, 2026. Featuring music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, and a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, this is a fast-paced musical comedy that bursts to life with outrageous characters and catchy, clever tunes to deliver a family-friendly, heartfelt tribute to the golden age of Broadway.

interACT Theatre Productions presents "9 to 5, the Musical"  (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- interACT Theatre Productions presents 9 to 5, the Musical across two weekends from April 17 to May 2, 2026 at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts. The musical features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnik. It is based on the 20th Century Fox Picture.

Studio Players presents "Dracula, a Comedy of Terrors"  (UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Studio Players presents Dracula, a Comedy of Terrors, across two weekends from April 17 to May 2, 2026. Get ready for a fang-tastically funny night at the theater with this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud reimagining of the classic vampire tale.

Somerset Valley Players presents "Inspecting Carol"  (HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) -- Somerset Valley Players presents Inspecting Carol by Daniel J. Sullivan across three weekends from April 17 to May 3, 2026. Holiday cheer meets theatrical chaos in this riotous backstage comedy! As a struggling theatre company scrambles to mount its annual production of A Christmas Carol, everything that can go wrong absolutely does.

Playhouse 22 presents "Fences" by August Wilson  (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 presents August Wilson's Fences weekends from April 17 to May 3, 2026. In this Pulitzer Prize Award-Winning play, Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro baseball leagues, is working as a garbage man in 1957 Pittsburgh.

First Avenue Playhouse presents "Men Are Dogs"  (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- First Avenue Playhouse presents Men Are Dogs weekends from April 17 to May 2, 2026. This is Joe Simonelli's hilarious comedy about Dr. Cecelia Monahan, a therapist running a support group for single and divorced women.

The Road Company presents "Jesus Christ Superstar"  (WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ) -- The Road Company presents Jesus Christ Superstar from across three weekends from April 23 to May 9, 2026. A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, this timeless musical is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events, but seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. It features Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lyrics by Tim Rice.

Theatre Philadelphia presents The 9th Annual Philly Theatre Week  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Theatre Philadelphia presents the return of Philly Theatre Week, running from April 23 - May 3, 2026. This 10-day celebration will feature close to 50 events, with a lineup showcasing the dynamic and diverse theatre community of the Greater Philadelphia region through full-scale productions, workshops, interactive events, and more.

Centenary Stage Company's NEXTstage Repertory presents "Little Women: The Broadway Musical"  (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's NEXTstage Repertory presents Little Women: The Broadway Musical, running April 23 through May 3, 2026 in the Sitnik Theatre. This beloved classic is reimagined in a heartfelt and inspiring musical adaptation.

brooklynONEproductions presents "Savage In Limbo" by John Patrick Shanley  (BROOKLYN, NY) -- brooklynONEproductions presents Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award–winning playwright John Patrick Shanley's Savage In Limbo, directed by Anthony Marino. It will play a limited engagement at The Tom Kane Theatre from April 23 through May 3, 2026. In a special highlight for audiences and a first-ever, Francis Shanley, son of the playwright, will make his onstage debut performing in his father's landmark play.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "A Bronx Tale, The Musical"  (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents A Bronx Tale, The Musical, across three weekends from April 24 to May 17, 2026. Step into the vibrant streets of the 1960s Bronx in this gripping musical about a young man torn between the steady guidance of his hardworking father and the alluring power of a local mob boss.

NENAproductions Theater Project presents Green Day's "American Idiot"  (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- NENAproductions Theater Project presents Green Day's American Idiot across two weekends from April 24 to May 2, 2026 at the Jersey Shore Arts Center. This is a high-octane rock opera that follows three lifelong friends—Johnny, Tunny, and Will—as they search for meaning in a post-9/11 world.

Rutgers Theater Department presents "Hamlet"  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Rutgers Theater Department presents eight performances of Shakespeare's most popular play, Hamlet, at the Levin Theater (on the Douglass Campus) from April 24-May 2, 2026. The production is directed by Cameron Knight.

Maurer Productions OnStage presents "The 39 Steps" at Kelsey Theatre   (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have a fast-paced whodunit when Maurer Productions OnStage presents "The 39 Steps," weekends from April 24 to May 3, 2026, at the Kelsey Theatre on Mercer County Community College's West Windsor Campus.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Present Laughter"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) — You’re invited into a world of wit, glamour, and delightful chaos as the curtain rises on Present Laughter at Music Mountain Theatre (MMT). Running from April 24 through May 10, 2026, this sophisticated comedy by legendary playwright Noël Coward brings one of theatre’s most charming and complicated leading men to life.

The Summit Playhouse presents "My Fair Lady"  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents My Fair Lady weekends from April 25 through May 10, 2026. It's the tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady, featuring one of musical theatre's greatest scores.  It features a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.

Main Street Theatre Company presents "Fiddler on the Roof"  (OLD BRIDGE, NJ) -- Main Street Theatre Company presents Fiddler on the Roof across two weekends from April 25 to May 3, 2026. Theatre Horizon presents "Ain't Misbehavin'" - The Fats Waller Musical Show  (NORRISTOWN, PA) -- Theatre Horizon the award-winning professional theater nestled in Norristown's Arts Hill District, presents Ain't Misbehavin', The Fats Waller Musical Show, the Tony Award-winning production. The production is directed by Amina Robinson, a three-time Barrymore Award winner who returns to Theatre Horizon for the first time since winning for Outstanding Direction of a Musical for The Color Purple in 2018. Ain't Misbehavin' runs from April 29 through May 17, 2026.

North Star Theater Company presents Fast-Paced Comedy Thriller, "The 39 Steps"  (OGDENSBURG, NJ) -- North Star Theater Company presents The 39 Steps from April 30 to May 3, 2026 at the NSTC Studio Theater. This is a wildly inventive comedy thriller adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and the classic Alfred Hitchcock film. Directed by Bert Piper, this high-energy production features a talented cast bringing dozens of characters to life in a whirlwind of quick changes, physical comedy, and theatrical ingenuity.

Seton Hall Theatre presents "Company" by Sondheim and Furth  (SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Sondheim and Furth's beloved dark comedy Company takes the stage at South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) in a vibrant new student production from Seton Hall Theatre. Performances run from April 30 to May 3, 2026.

The Village Playbox presents "Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"  (HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Village Playbox presents Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street across three weekends from May 1-16, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. Aspire Performing Arts Company presents "Matilda, the Musical"  (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Aspire Performing Arts Company presents Matilda the Musical from May 1-3, 2026 at the Fair Lawn Community Center. In this show, Lillias pulls back the show curtain to tell humorous, poignant and inspiring stories from both her personal and show business life that she has never shared before, onstage or off.

Hitchcock Meets Hilarious: Bergen County Players presents "The 39 Steps"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Fresh off being named the top live music or theater venue by 201 Magazine's "Best of Bergen" readers, Bergen County Players (BCP) invites audiences to brace themselves for a whirlwind of espionage and outrageous comedy with the Tony Award-winning The 39 Steps, which runs weekends from May 2-31, 2026. Directed by BCP life member Steve Bell, this breakneck adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 film classic blends film noir suspense with Monty Python-style absurdity.

Chester Theatre Group presents "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder  (CHESTER, NJ) -- Chester Theatre Group presents The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder across three weekends from May 2-17, 2026. Combining farce, burlesque and satire, Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play depicts an Everyman family as it narrowly escapes one end-of-the-world disaster after another, from the Ice Age to flood to war.

Westfield Community Players presents "The Nerd" by Larry Shue  (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- Westfield Community Players presents The Nerd by Larry Shue across three weekends from May 2-16, 2026. The production is directed by Christopher Peterson. Aspiring young architect Willum Cubbert, in Terre Haute, Indiana, has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam.

Art House Productions presents the 8th Annual INKubator New Play Festival  (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents the 2026 INKubator New Play Festival from May 4-6 & May 11-13, 2026. This year's playwrights are Oded Gross, Erin Mallon, Kyle Mazer, Ferdinand Moscat, Allyson Dwyer, and Cristina Luzárraga. Audiences who attend the festival will have the opportunity to participate in conversations with the writers, directors, and actors following each performance. George Street Playhouse's 2026 Gala Benefit will honor Emily Mann with the Arthur Laurents Award for Distinguished Artistic Achievement  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse's 2026 Gala Benefit on Wednesday, May 6th will honor Emily Mann, playwright and former Artistic Director of McCarter Theatre Center, with the Arthur Laurents Award for Distinguished Artistic Achievement. This distinguished honor has only been awarded twice before in George Street Playhouse's over 50-year history.

Vivid Stage presents Meet the Artist New Play Readings throughout May  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center, will present its annual Meet the Artist new play reading series on Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27. This year includes works by Brad Goren-Wilson, Vince Gatton, Erin Mallon, and Elizabeth Irwin. All readings will take place at the Summit Community Center (100 Morris Ave) at 7:00pm.

Villagers Theatre presents "On Time" by Wesley Cappiello  (SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre presents On Time by Wesley Cappiello across two weekends from May 8-17, 2026. In this gay epic spanning 160 years, the play follows five couples, weaving together moments of love, heartbreak, and survival across centuries.

State Theatre New Jersey presents Meredith Willson's The Music Man  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Meredith Willson's The Music Man for four performances from May 8-10, 2026. There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian.

Class Act Performing Arts Studio presents "Wizard of Oz" at SOPAC  (SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Class Act Performing Arts Studio presents Wizard of Oz at South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) from May 8-10, 2026. We're off to see the wizard! Follow the yellow brick road to the SOPAC stage for a delightful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the classic MGM film.

bergenPAC's Performing Arts School to Hold Auditions for "Annie"  (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- This summer, bergenPAC's Performing Arts School will light up the Taub Stage with the beloved Broadway classic Annie, running July 31 through August 2, 2026. Auditions for the production will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Digital audition submissions will also be accepted now through May 13th. Callbacks will be on May 20th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.

American Theater Group presents "The Unwitting Magician"  (UNION, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG) will once again present The Unwitting Magician, a special work in development by Jeremy Dobrish, May 16-17, 2026 at the DMK Black Box Theater at the Union Arts Center. The piece was successfully presented last December as part of ATG's Free Monday Night Play Reading Series.
