NJ Rep presents the World Premiere of "The Bookstore" by Michael Walek

(LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) presents the world premiere of The Bookstore by Michael Walek from July 11 through August 4, 2024. The play takes place in a small independent bookstore in New York City, like the ones we all love to frequent and are rapidly dying out. Carey, the owner, rolls up the grate, unlocks the front door, carries in boxes, turns on the heater, turns on the kettle, and turns on the lamps and her computer. And so her day begins.

Jersey Arts TV: Premiere Stages at Kean University Delves into the Underground Railroad with "Still"

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre is presenting the musical, Footloose from July 9-28, 2024. Based on the classic 80s film, the play follows big-city teenager, Ren, relocates from Chicago to the small rural town of Bomont, where its inhabitants have imposed an unjust ban on Rock 'n' Roll and dancing. West Side Story Comes to the Ritz Theatre

A local production of "West Side Story" is coming to the Ritz Theatre in Haddon Township, New Jersey, running from July 12 through July 28, 2024. Director Edwin Rico Santiago pays homage to the iconic dance-driven musical which first leaped onto the stage in 1957 when it premiered on Broadway, followed by a popular film version released in 1961 and Steven Spielberg's Hollywood remake in 2021. Choreographer Jen Gordon also steps into the illustrious shoes of Jerome Robbins who choreographed and directed the original stage production and film adaptation of this musical theater classic.

Summer Heats Up at Cape May Stage with the New Jersey Professional Premiere of "Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B"

'Still' at Premiere Stages – a Powerful, Well Crafted Play

The new season of Premiere Stages at Kean University opens with with a powerful production of Benjamin V. Marshall's play Still. This play is the true story of William Still, a man who ran an abolitionist office in Philadelphia. Kept under wraps but shown in this play is the work he does as an African American leader in the Underground Railroad. It is said that he helped over 600 slaves escape to freedom. The intensity of all that these pieces of Still's life entails is brought out through fine theatrical crafting including the use of well written dialog and strong theatrical components.

(FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Old Library Theatre (OLT), Fair Lawn Recreation Department's resident theatre company, is presenting Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella over two weekends, July 26 through August 4, 2024.
