New Jersey Youth Symphony Presents Black History Month Celebration Concert

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS), a program of Wharton Arts, will present a Black History Month Celebration Concert on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway. Conductor Helen H. Cha-Pyo will lead the NJYS Youth Symphony in Duke Ellington's Three Black Kings featuring tenor saxophonist Lance Bryant, William Grant Still's Afro American Symphony, and the world premiere of Stefania De Kennesey's Microvids for Symphony Orchestra and Piano featuring pianist Donna Weng Friedmann and narrator Diana Solomon-Glover. Showtime is 3:00pm.

Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital Series to present two free children's concerts on Sunday

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory of Music will present Music Makes Me..., an interactive program intended for children ages 10 and under, on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2:30pm, with a repeat performance at 4:00pm. The concerts will take place in Hillman Performance Hall in the Marion Buckelew Cullen Music Center, (101 Walnut Lane) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.

The two will deliver a once-in-a-lifetime evening, performing together, trading stories, and celebrating Sting's illustrious career.

PSO Soundtracks Talk: A Celebration of Bulgaria with Maestro Rossen Milanov and Soprano Mariana Karpatova

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO)'s Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov joins mezzo-soprano Mariana Karpatova in an exploration of the songs, dances, and culture of their native Bulgaria at a very special PSO Soundtracks talk: A Celebration of Bulgaria. Their presentation takes place on Thursday, March 7 at 7:00pm, at the Princeton Public Library in the library's Community Room. Immediately following, there will be time for a brief Q&A. The talk serves as a prelude to the orchestra's March 9-10 concerts which includes a work by Bulgarian composer Marin Goleminov. Soundtracks is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
