Outpost in the Burbs presents “Freedom and Faith,” an Album Release Celebration Show

featuring Dave and the Divas Presenting Songs of Elton John and Jenny Amlen
(rescheduled from Feb 8th)

Outpost in the Burbs presents “Freedom and Faith,” an album release celebration show. This concert is a tribute to the late Jenny Amlen, sister of Grammy award-winning producer David Amlen and will feature songs of Elton John and Jenny Amlen from the forthcoming album ‘Elton and Jenny Today.’ The concert will take place at 8:00 pm at the First Congregational Church, 40 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair. The evening will feature performances by Cecile Williams, Stacia Thiel, Iris Schaffer-Hall, Meg Patrick, and Julie Dobrow, all who recorded the songs on the album. Members of the house band for the evening will include Amlen himself, Billy Karcher, Doug Hall, Kevin Carillo, and Matthew Weiner.

Mastered by multiple Grammy-award winner Greg Calbi, the album is due out in February 2025. It honors the late singer-songwriter with a collection of paired songs: five written by David and Jenny, matched with covers of songs from Elton John’s 1969 debut album ‘Empty Sky.’

A recent press release about the album stated: “On the concept album ‘Elton and Jenny Today’, Grammy Award-winner David Amlen honors his late sister Jenny Amlen with a collection of paired songs: five original tracks written with his sister before she passed away, matched with covers of five rare Elton John songs, culled from John’s 1969 ‘Empty Sky’ debut. The result is an uplifting, often anthemic release that evokes Fleetwood Mac, Shawn Colvin and others, and resonates on many levels: emotionally, musically and even culturally. David Amlen comments, “this has truly been a labor of love. I’m hoping my sister somehow knows her legacy will continue since her passing.”
