There’s something about Tony Holiday that draws people together. In fact, community has been at the core of Holiday’s young career from the beginning. Since relocating from Salt Lake City to Memphis in 2017, Holiday has been at the center of a soul blues revival in Memphis, anchored by a contingent of young, savvy well-schooled musicians with a “family-like” attitude and a strong belief in one another. Mentored by past legends, Holiday and this loose Memphis collective are building on the city’s rich traditions and carrying them forward
Joining Tony Holiday is Laura Chavez: Widely celebrated for her fiery technique, emotional depth, and unmistakable tone, Chavez has spent years shaping contemporary blues through her collaborations with such artists as Nikki Hill, Candye Kane, Dani Wilde, Mike Ledbetter, Monster Mike Welch, Vanessa Collier, Casey Hensley, and Whitney Shay. Rooted in the Texas and Chicago blues traditions while embracing both classic and modern influences, her playing has earned her multiple nominations for Instrumentalist – Guitar at the Blues Music Awards, ultimately winning the category in 2023 – making her the first and only woman to ever receive this prestigious honor.
