George Street Playhouse presents "Ibsen's Ghost". (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse presents Ibsen's Ghost by Charles Busch from January 16 through February 4, 2024. Based on a few irrefutable facts, the play tells a tall (and hilarious) tale of the legendary Norwegian playwright's wife Suzannah the week after the great man's state funeral. The production is directed by Carl Andress.

Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "DEATHtrap". (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre presents DEATHtrap, a murder mystery by Ira Levin, from January 19-28, 2024. Sidney Bruhl would do anything to publish the next great play. He would even kill for it. This dark comedy, thriller will have audiences laughing one moment and screaming in terror the next as Sidney discovers he may not be the only murderer in the room.

Wednesday, January 24 - bergenPAC presents Extreme and Living Colour. (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) presents Extreme & Living Colour on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 8:00pm. Tickets range from $45-$105.

Wednesday, January 24 - Keith Alessi is a One-Man Show in "Tomatoes Tried To Kill Me But Banjos Saved My Life". "Tomatoes Tried To Kill Me But Banjos Saved My Life," the quirky one-man show conceived of and performed by Keith Alessi, will be on stage at the Mayo Performing Arts Center on January 24. The SOLD-OUT show is a co-presentation of MPAC, Morris Arts, and AM Higley Construction. 

Thursday, January 25 - Psychic Medium Matt Frazier Brings New Material to bergenPAC. (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) presents psychic medium Matt Frazier on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 8:00pm. He is America's Top Psychic Medium and star of the hit television series on E! Entertainment.

Thursday, January 25 - State Theatre presents The Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents The Marshall Tucker Band with special guests, The Outlaws on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 8:00pm. The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) has had an impact on generations of listeners who've been "Searchin' for a Rainbow" and found it perfectly represented by this tried-and-true Southern institution over the decades.

 Make Plans for New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2024. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, in association with the Rutgers University Program in Cinema Studies, will present the New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2024 which marks its 42nd Anniversary. The Festival will be taking place on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between January 26-February 18, 2024.

Friday, January 26 - McCarter Theatre Center presents Kaki King: Modern Yesterdays. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Kaki King: Modern Yesterdays on Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Berlind Theater at 8:00pm. Kaki King has spent her career deconstructing and redefining the boundaries of the guitar, exploring its limits through technique, imagination, and seemingly boundless humanity.

Friday, January 26 - Celebrating Max Roach's Centennial with a New Performance of His Freedom Jazz Suite. On January 10, 2024, Max Roach, one of jazz's most remarkable figures, would have turned 100 years old. The observance of Roach's centennial has coincided with the recent release of the documentary Max Roach: The Drum Also Waltzes, which celebrates the drummer's life and music. While many remember Roach as the pioneering drummer connected to the bebop movement of the mid to late 1940s, a much more incredible story is associated with his mastery, creativity, conviction, and spirit.

National Tour of "Hairspray" comes to MPAC. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Hairspray, Broadway's Tony Award®-winning musical comedy phenomenon, comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for three performances Friday, January 26 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, January 27 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm. Saturday, January 27 - Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Craig Ferguson. (RED BANK, NJ) -- Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Craig Ferguson: The Fancy Rascal Tour on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 7:00pm. Ferguson is a multiple Grammy nominated, Peabody and Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, producer, director and comedian with a diverse career that encompasses film, television and the stage. He is a New York Times bestselling author and has recorded numerous standup specials for Netflix, Epix, Comedy Central and Amazon.

Saturday, January 27 - Outpost in the Burbs presents Light of Day's "Songwriters in the Round". (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Outpost in the Burbs and The Light of Day Foundation present WinterFest 2024 "Songwriters in the Round" - a Benefit for the Light of Day Foundation on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the First Congregational Church, 40 S. Fullerton Avenue in Montclair. This year's songwriters are James Maddock, Anthony D’Amato, Danielia Cotton, Adam Ezra, Amanda Cross & Derek Cruz, Emily Grove, Jake Thistle, Williams Honor, Jon Caspi, and Deni Bonet & Chris Flynn, and host Joe D’Urso. Saturday, January 27 - McCarter Theatre presents Mark Morris Dance Group. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Mark Morris Dance Group on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 8:00pm in the Matthews Theater. Since its first performance in 1980, the Mark Morris Dance Group has received "highest praise for their technical aplomb, their musicality, and their sheer human authenticity" (Bloomberg News).

Thursday, January 25 - Stage Stars Productions to present a special NOLA inspired edition of The Starlight Jazz Show: "The Wolf Moon". (GARWOOD, NJ) -- January 25th is the full wolf moon... and Stage Stars Productions will present a special edition of The Starlight Jazz Show, "The Wolf Moon" at Crossroads in Garwood on January 25, 2024 at 7:30pm. The audience will be transported into the night on the streets of New Orleans during the full wolf moon. Expect a spectacle of song, dance, art and cuisine inspired by the magic of NOLA and woven through tales of mystical folklore.

Friday, January 26 - The Newton Theatre presents TR3 with Tim Reynolds. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 8:00pm. With a career spanning more than forty years, two-time Grammy nominee and sonic innovator, Tim Reynolds, is best known for his seemingly effortless guitar virtuosity, his masterful command of melody and timing, and for his uncanny ability to improvise on any instrument he touches.

Friday, January 26 - NJPAC to Celebrate Max Roach's Centennial with a Concert and Film Screening. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will celebrate the centennial and impact of percussionist, drummer, jazz composer, and social activist Max Roach with two events - a screening of the documentary film The Drum Also Waltzes with a panel discussion on January 18th and a concert featuring Grammy winner Cassandra Wilson on Friday, January 26th.

Saturday, January 27 - Newton Theatre presents The Lords of 52nd Street - Legends of the Billy Joel Band. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The famed line-up that backed singer-songwriter Billy Joel for over a decade, The Lords of 52nd Street - Legends of Billy Joel Band will perform at The Newton Theatre on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 8:00pm. Saturday, January 27 - Plainfield Symphony presents Annual Free Family Concert - "Let Justice Roll". (PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- The Plainfield Symphony's free Family Concert for 2024, "Let Justice Roll," will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00pm. The program will feature two choral works by their very own prolific composer, PSO Board President Mark Miller and composer Lucas Richmond. Maestro Charles Prince will also lead the PSO in several orchestral selections.

Saturday, January 27 - Montclair State University presents "Dialogues des Carmélites". (MONTCLAIR, NJ) — It's not every day that you get to see a world renowned opera singer on Montclair State University's Kasser Theater stage, but you'll have the chance in Dialogues des Carmélites! Madame de Croissy, the Old Prioress, will be performed by Cali School of Music's Distinguished Artist in Residence, Barbara Dever, with performances on January 27-28, 2024.

Saturday, January 27 - Centenary Stage Company presents ROSAWAY. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's Winter Thaw Festival of concerts continues with a performance by ROSAWAY on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 8:00pm. The concert will take place at CSC's Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Vocal, flute, drums, & machines - that's ROSAWAY: A Pop-Jazz band hailing from Paris.

Sunday, January 28 - The Newton Theatre presents The Red Hot Chilli Pipers. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents The Red Hot Chilli Pipers on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 8:00pm. These are bagpipes with attitude. Drums with a Scottish accent. A blazing rock band and show so hot, it carries its own health warning!

THEATRE

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Lend Me a Tenor". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre opens their 2024 season with the Tony award winning comedy, Lend Me a Tenor, weekends from January 12-28, 2024. The play is set in September of 1934 and we see the Cleveland Grand Opera Company's gala season opener, centered on world-famous tenor Tito Morelli, performing as Canio in "Pagliacci," his greatest role. But the opera is jeopardized when Morelli falls into a drunken stupor.

Westfield Community Players Presents "God Of Carnage". (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- The Westfield Community Players presents "God of Carnage", a dark comedy with five performances from January 13-27, 2024. After an altercation between two young boys results in an injury, the two sets of parents get together with the objective to discuss and resolve the incident in a civilized manner. As the evening progresses, however, the parents become more childish, the "civilized" meeting devolves into utter chaos.

Haddonfield Plays & Players to Presents Monty Python's "Spamalot". (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays & Players will present Monty Python's Spamalot weekends from Friday, January 19 to Saturday, February 3, 2024. Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. With a mashup of several Monty Python bits, this show will not only delight the Monty Python enthusiast, but any fan of musical comedies.

Players Guild of Leonia presents "Deathtrap". (LEONIA, NJ) -- Players Guild of Leonia, New Jersey's oldest continuing community theater group (since 1919), presents their first show of 2024 – the comedy thriller Deathtrap weekends from January 19 to February 4, 2024. With plot twists aplenty, Deathtrap tells the story of a has-been playwright, Sidney Bruhl, who is desperate to regain his prestige, and his young protégé, Clifford Anderson, who unwittingly offers an intriguing solution. How desperate remains a secret, and to tell you any more would be a crime!

The North Star Theater Company presents "The Full Monty". (NEWTON, NJ) -- The North Star Theater Company presents The Full Monty across two weekends (January 19-21 and January 26-28) at The Performing Arts Center at Sussex County Community College. The Full Monty is a story full of heart. Right to the end, audiences will be wondering if these lovable misfits will pull it off. With a raucous mix of razor-sharp humor and toe-tapping pizzazz, this heartwarming, upbeat comedy is a must-see for any theater enthusiast.

"A Matter of Faith" to have World Premiere at The Chain Theatre. (NEW YORK, NY) -- A Matter of Faith, a new play by Ian Richard Barnes, will have its world premiere beginning January 24 for a limited off-Broadway engagement. Directed by Augustus Childres, A Matter of Faith will run thru February 4 at The Chain Theatre at 312 West 36 Street. The cast of this three-person, 85 minute play, features Ava Paris Locknar, Henry Frontini and Ian Richard Barnes.

Black Box Studios presents Selections from "The Rock Musical Soul Searching" and a Staged Reading of "Second Chances". (TEANECK, NJ) -- Featuring the music of Avi Kunstler, a special evening of Selections from The Rock Musical Soul Searching, preceded by a staged reading of the play with music Second Chances, will be presented by Black Box Studios on Wednesday, January 24th at 7:30pm at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck, NJ.

NiCori Studios & Productions to present NJ premiere of "CATS: Young Actor's Edition". (BLOOMFIELD, NJ) -- NiCori Studios & Productions will be the first in New Jersey to produce "CATS: Young Actor's Edition", the brand new, one-hour adaptation of the world renowned Andrew Lloyd Webber TONY Award winning musical on Thursday through Sunday, January 25, 26 and 27, 2024.

"Senior Moments - Big Beaver" to Have World Premiere in Middletown. (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- From the team that brought you the award winning Off-Broadway production Camp, A New Musical; Dealing, The Musical; and Accidentally On Purpose comes their brand-new original comedy, Senior Moments - Big Beaver which has its World Premiere at the Middletown Arts Center with a limited engagement from January 26-28, 2024.

Shakespeare '70 to present "All My Sons" at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Shakespeare '70 presents Arthur Miller's powerful tale of morality, guilt, responsibility, and irrevocable loss of innocence during World War II, All My Sons, at the Kelsey Theatre on Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) West Windsor Campus, January 26 to February 4, 2024.

Black Box presents The Writers Project. (TEANECK, NJ) -- The first installment of The Writers Project will take place on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall. This special evening, the first in an ongoing series, will feature Black Box performers including Ilana Schimmel, J Niles, Danielle MacMath, Justin Jager, and Joseph Liberti performing segments of the original work of writers such as Michael Gardiner, Jakob Holder (Executive Director of The Edward F. Friday, January 26 - Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of "Call Me Dancer". (SURF CITY, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of Call Me Dancer on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Surf City Firehouse. The film promises to take audiences on a magical journey, transporting them from the lively streets of Mumbai to the grand stages of New York. The film explores themes of perseverance, rebellion, passion, family, and the rich tapestry of diverse cultures.
