(SURF CITY, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of Call Me Dancer on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Surf City Firehouse. The film promises to take audiences on a magical journey, transporting them from the lively streets of Mumbai to the grand stages of New York. The film explores themes of perseverance, rebellion, passion, family, and the rich tapestry of diverse cultures. Filmed across India, Israel, the U.K., and the U.S., the movie is a celebration of global unity through the universal language of dance. The screening begins at 7:30pm.

In the heart of Mumbai's vibrant streets, a tale of passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of dreams unfolds in the film, Call Me Dancer.  This enchanting story revolves around Manish, an athletic street dancer whose journey takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a 70-year-old Israeli ballet master.

Manish, torn between his love for dance and his parents' traditional expectations, discovers a newfound hunger for artistic expression after stumbling upon an inner-city dance school. The catalyst for this transformative journey is a curmudgeonly ballet master from Israel, who becomes an unlikely source of inspiration for Manish to pursue his dreams against all odds.

Tickets are $12 online/$14 door. Free for LIFSociety members. Tickets are available for purchase online. The Surf City Firehouse is located at 719 Long Beach Blvd in Surf City, New Jersey.

The soundtrack of Call Me Dancer boasts the musical talent of legendary singer/songwriter Jay Sean and the dynamic beats of hip-hop artist/rapper Anik Khan. Complemented by an original score from the talented duo Nainita Desai and Nina Humphreys, the film promises to captivate audiences with its fusion of diverse musical elements.
