In celebration of Black History Month, UCPAC invites Seniors (ages 55 and up) to join local students for a digital matinee film screening of 2016’s inspiring “Hidden Figures,” which tells the true story of Katherine Goble Johnson (played by Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (played by Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (played by Janelle Monáe), three brilliant African American mathematicians and engineers whose groundbreaking work at NASA helped launch John Glenn into orbit and advance the U.S. space program.
Set against the backdrop of the Space Race and the Civil Rights era, this Best Picture Oscar nominated film celebrates Johnson, Vaughan, and Jackson’s incredible contributions and accomplishments.
Admission is free, but tickets are required.
