An Evening with Kenny G

Thursday, September 24, 2026 @ 7:30pm

Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)
100 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960

Superstar saxophonist Kenny G has been a staple in pop and contemporary jazz since the 1980s, with crossover hits such as “Songbird” that have made him a favorite of fans worldwide who love his expressive melodies and emotional solos.

Kenny G is the greatest selling instrumental musician of the modern era, and one of the best-selling artists of all time. With global sales totaling more than 75-million records and 1.5 billion streams, the saxophone icon has accumulated a staggering 24-award nominations throughout his 50-year career and has taken home a Grammy Award, American Music Award, two NAACP Awards, Multiple Billboard music awards, and two Soul Train Music Awards. With classic, top-selling studio albums including the best-selling instrumental record of all time with 1992’s 12-times-platinum BreathlessDuotonesSilhouetteMiracles: The Holiday AlbumHeart and Soul, and Brazilian Nights, Kenny has maintained a prominent level of creative excellence through decades of unprecedented worldwide commercial success. Kenny G’s music has become part of the global cultural fabric. His song “Going Home” is famously played at the end of each day to signal closing time, across Asia but specifically in China and is immensely popular in Vietnam. At the heart of those achievements is Kenny’s ability to convey deep emotional resonance with his saxophone, a skill never more apparent than on Innocence, his 20th studio album which serves as an homage to heartfelt lullabies, including seven original tracks. Showing no signs of stopping, Kenny G continues to stretch the boundaries of what instrumental music and musicians can do.

Kenny’s longstanding pop culture relevance has transcended the jazz genre. Most recently, he made a cameo in the 2025 Disney+ film, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, appearing as himself, performing a saxophone solo during “Coming Home This Christmas.” For the last several years, Kenny has taken to the internet with gusto, as new generations of listeners have discovered his music and contemporary hitmakers from nearly all genres, from The Weeknd to Jon Batiste, have featured him on their tracks, in music videos and even making a surprise appearance at the last MTV Video Music Award’s, opening the show with a live performance with Doja Cat on her single “Jealous Type.” Other notable worldwide campaigns include commercials for Invesco, Google Pixel, Snickers, Audi and a Super Bowl spot for Busch Light’s “Voice of the Mountains,” emphasizing the brand’s “smooth” taste with Kenny playing solo on a mountain top.

Kenny published his long-awaited memoir, Life in the Key of G and became the subject of Penny Lane’s HBO Documentary – Listening To Kenny G. The book is heartfelt, funny, and fascinating sharing how skinny Kenneth Gorelick, the kid who got hassled for his lunch money in a Seattle high school, became one of the most celebrated and revered virtuosos in the music industry. He uncovers how he’s managed to rise above the fray, tune out the critics, and live a life filled with happiness and humor.

Multiplatinum-selling cultural icon Kenny G’s soprano sax uplifts, soothes, and conjures aural nostalgia of the highest order. His social media posts, surprise pop culture appearances and his wildly successful Cameo channel have kept him and his content viral and with humor and genuine joy, Kenny G continues to embrace his iconic status while having fun with who he is and what he does while doing it well.

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
