Photo by GOFC PHOTOGRAPHY(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- On the heels of their radiant debut album girl clothes and recent social media virality, New Jersey punk scene darlings Jack Flowers and the Petal Tones are setting off on their first tour. Known for their euphoric stage presence and transcendent, cyber-fueled melodies, the Petal Tones are sure to foster riotous, unapologetic joy and a memo of radical self-acceptance on each stage they grace.
Having garnered a fan base of young gender nonconforming people, artists, and kids who grew up in the online era in need of alternative messaging, frontwoman Jack Powers is elated to be bringing the songs from girl clothes to a wider audience on the road.
“I’ve wanted to go on tour with a band since I was a kid and I’m so excited to finally be doing it. girl clothes is exactly the album that I want to be doing it with. Before I came out, I didn’t even think it was possible to be a trans musician because I didn’t know any. There was legitimately a time in my life where I thought I had to choose between coming out and being a professional musician. I hope I can be the representation that I didn’t have that young trans people need now more than ever.”
Vibrant, addictive and electrifying, Jack Flowers and the Petal Tones have become a mainstay in the North Jersey alt-punk scene since their 2021 debut. Born deep in The Internet Age and desperate to escape it, the band—helmed by frontwoman Jack Powers, with Kyle Steven-Sanders (lead guitar), Tim Nuzzetti (drums), Matheus Bueno (bass), Bella Miller (rhythm guitar) and Emma Rogers (synth) in tow—balances veteran precision with gushing emo expression. In familiar Petal Tone territory, long-standing “petalheads” will join the band for every word of bittersweet anthems like “Body” and “She’s In My Head,” while rowdy newcomers jump into the pit on gritty, glitchy songs like “the internet,” “slur,” and “starve.”
East Coast “petalheads” and rock-adjacent live music fans alike can catch the Petal Tones live at one (or all) of these upcoming shows.
