originally published: 05/15/2026

(CAPE MAY POINT, NJ) -- On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, musician, storyteller and two-time Grammy Nominee for Best Traditional Blues, Guy Davis, will perform at The Cape May Point Arts and Science Center.

Actor, author, singer, and songwriter, Guy uses a blend of roots, blues, folk, rock, rap, spoken word, and word music for his storytelling with his six and twelve string guitars, the five-string banjo, harmonica, and didgeridoo.

A self-taught “Renaissance Man,” he first heard the banjo at a summer camp run by John Seeger, the brother of Pete Seeger, and soon after, asked his father, Ossie Davis, for one. His performances feature a mix of his original songs and cover songs by Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Mance Lipscombe, Blind Willie McTell, Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and many others.

Two nonprofits, Classic American Tales (CAT) and Animal Outreach are bringing Guy to Cape May as a fundraising event on June 24 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. The evening begins with complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks with a grazing table featuring domestic cheese and antipasto display, fresh fruit display, veggie spring rolls, short rib beef sliders, and desserts.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

Tickets are $120 plus a $7.22 fee and are available for purchase online. The Cape May Point Arts and Science Center is located at 101 Lehigh Avenue in Cape May Point, New Jersey. The sponsor for the evening is The Dormer House.
