Book by Jeffrey Kindley

Music and lyrics by Craig Carnelia Suggested by the Ralph Keyes novel of the same title

A witty, heartfelt, and wonderfully nostalgic musical, Is There Life After High School? takes audiences on a hilarious and touching journey through the awkward triumphs, painful memories, and enduring friendships of adolescence. Reuniting at their high school reunion, a group of former classmates relive the moments that shaped them. Perfect for anyone who has ever survived adolescence, Is There Life After High School? is a joyous celebration of growing up, growing older, and learning to laugh at ourselves along the way.

Recommended Audience

Generally best suited for teens and adults, typically ages 13 and up.

Content Advisory

The show centers on adult reflections about adolescence, relationships, sexuality, marriage, identity, and midlife disappointment, all presented with humor and nostalgia. While there is no extreme content, audiences should expect:

• Mild sexual references and innuendo
• Mature themes about adulthood and relationships
• Some strong language and emotionally reflective material
• Situations involving teenage awkwardness, dating, and social pressures

High school and college students often connect strongly with the material, especially because of its honest portrayal of growing up and looking back on formative years. Adults who remember the era depicted in the musical may especially appreciate its nostalgic tone and satirical humor. For family audiences, it’s usually considered appropriate for mature middle schoolers and older teens when accompanied by adults or educators who can provide context.
