This duo of dark comedies was written by Harold Pinter, one of Britain’s most influential modern dramatists.
The Dumb Waiter centers around two professional hit men, holed up in the basement of a former cafe, awaiting instructions for their next assignment. When the dumbwaiter starts sending them inexplicable food orders, their waiting game begins to unravel. Full of dramatic tension, The Dumb Waiter has long been considered the best of Pinter’s early plays.
The Lover is a fast-moving, comedic drama exploring the sexual power play between a conventionally married couple. All is seemingly well until their unconventional arrangement begins to blur the line between fiction and fantasy.
Written in the late 50’s and early 60’s, The Lover and The Dumb Waiter, together, make for a memorable night of theater. Don’t miss this chance to see Pinter at his poetic, dramatic, and provocative best!
