The Prom

Saturday, May 13, 2023 @ 2:00pm

Axelrod Performing Arts Center
100 Grant Avenue, Deal Park, NJ 07723

Changing the world, one dance at a time, The Prom  is the upbeat coming-of-age musical of our time! Compared with Hairspray for its high-energy rock-and-roll score and heartfelt message, The Prom  is the big song and dance show Broadway lovers crave, praised by The New York Times for making audiences “believe in musical comedy again.” If you were ever in doubt, The Prom  will restore your faith in big brassy dance numbers, live theater, and even humanity itself! (Dancing in the aisle is strongly encouraged!)

The Prom was composed by Matthew Sklar with lyrics by Chad Beguelin and book by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, based on the original concept by Jack Viertel.  Axelrod's production of The Prom  will be directed by Broadway and TV's Todd Buonopane with Choreography by Broadway's Brooke Engen!

The Prom is presented with special permission by Theatrical Rights Worldwide

Runs from May 5 (preview)—May 21, 2023

EVENT PREVIEWS

When you think of the word injury, what springs to mind? Theater, right? Maybe not but perhaps it should. "Gruesome Playground Injuries" is a play written by Ravi Joseph. A fast-paced, intense, and darkly comic play, it tells the story of Kayleen and Doug, two friends whose lives are intertwined through a series of injuries that bring them together. Joseph highlights the complexity and messiness of life, reminding us that it becomes a bit easier with someone by our side.
