Trenton City Museum Will Mark the Closing of Painting the Moon and Beyond With Cello Concert of Nocturnes, Arias, and Artistic Memories

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie will host the closing reception for its acclaimed exhibition Painting the Moon and Beyond: Lois Dodd and Friends Saturday, April 30 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. In addition to meeting the show’s artists, attendees will hear a moon- and art-inspired concert of Nocturnes, Arias, and Artistic Memories performed by cellists Eric Schultz and Mira Kang and pianist Sandra Pucciatti. The program will include selections by Chopin, Sondheim, Bach, Puccini.



Whitney Cummings to Record 5th Standup Comedy Special at NJPAC

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Comedian Whitney Cummings will record her fifth standup comedy special live at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC.) Be part of the live comedy special taping at any of Cumming’s performances of her popular “Touch Me” stand-up comedy show taking place on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14th showtimes at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. 



Riverview Jazz announces Covid-Relief Grant for local jazz musicians

Riverview Jazz, the NJ-based non-profit that produces the Jersey City Jazz Festival, is announcing a Covid-Relief grant for Hudson County jazz musicians. The grant, made possible by the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund at the Princeton Area Community Foundation, is aimed at professional musicians who have been financially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Paper Mill Playhouse announces Cast and Crew for "Sister Act"

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for the hit Broadway musical Sister Act with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the Touchstone Pictures Motion Picture Sister Act written by Joseph Howard.  Sister Act begins performances Wednesday, June 1, 2022 and will continue through Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Paper Mill Playhouse (22 Brookside Drive, Millburn, NJ). Opening Night is Sunday evening, June 5, 2022 at 7:00pm.



WBGO Studios Announces Jazz Cabbage Podcast

(NEWARK, NJ) -- WBGO Studios has announced a new limited run podcast, Jazz Cabbage, hosted by Nicole Sweeney (host of Lights Out on WBGO), and cannabis author/historian David Bienenstock.  Jazz Cabbage will explore the cultural intersection of jazz and cannabis. The series will examine topics from how the marginalization of "viper" culture inspired improvisation and integration in the early jazz scene, to the federal government's relentless targeting of jazz musicians as part of its Reefer Madness-inspired eradication campaign.

Black Box PAC Presents World Premiere of "Exposed" by Beth Henley

(ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Black Box PAC's 2022 Save Our Stages season continues with the world premiere production of Exposed, a new play by Beth Henley. The show runs at The Black Box Performing Arts Center from May 7-28. This fast-moving, poignant comedy follows five interconnected individuals on the Winter Solstice as they try to escape the pervasive loneliness of late 1990's Los Angeles.



APEX Youth Symphony To Hold Auditions For 2022-23

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The APEX Ensemble is hosting auditions for the inaugural year of its Youth Program, led by Diego Garcia.  The Youth Symphony which will form the foundation for the program will be geared to music students in grades 7 through 12. Spring auditions will take place in-person on May 21 and 22 in Montclair, as well as providing a virtual option that may be submitted online.

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.
