"Spring Awakening" Coming of Age Musical at Vanguard

Vanguard Theater will present the coming-of-age musical "Spring Awakening" from June 22 through July 16. A celebration of youth and rebellion, censorship and its consequences, "Spring Awakening" fuses issues of morality and sexuality with alternative rock music into an emotionally charged story.



Five artists added to 30th XPoNential Music Festival

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- Philadelphia public radio station WXPN announced five artists have been added to the lineup of its 2023 XPoNential Music Festival presented by Subaru: Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band, Wednesday, Wilder Woods, Bobby Rush and Christine Havrilla & Gypsy Fuzz. They join the 19 previously announced artists performing September 22-24 at Wiggins Park on the Camden, New Jersey waterfront, directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.

Monmouth County Park System to Host Seining Along Sandy Hook Bay

(PORT MONMOUTH) -- Discover a variety of fish, crabs and other sea creatures when the Monmouth County Park System hosts Seining Along Sandy Hook Bay. Held at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Port Monmouth, from 11:00am-12:00pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, June 26-August 25, this program invites area residents to join Park System Naturalists as they seine the water and identify the aquatic creatures caught.

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
