The Pianist, a new play at the George Street Playhouse, strikes deep personal chords with the playwright and the actor in the title role.

 



Studio Players to Present "King Charles III"
 

(UPPER MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- In 2015, playwright Mike Bartlett wrote of an imagined future where Queen Elizabeth dies and Prince Charles ascends the throne. Studio Players presents his play, King Charles III, across three weekends from October 6-21, 2023 at Studio Playhouse. The production is directed by Emily Miller.

 



"Sex Work/Sex Play" opens Off-Broadway
 

(NEW YORK,NY) -- The new comedy Sex Work/Sex Play, from award-winning playwright and filmmaker Caytha Jentis opened to a sold out house September 13 at 28th Street Theatre. The Off-Broadway World Premiere runs until October 29, 2023 and is directed by Rosie Gunther. Produced by Emerging Artists Theatre, the play had a staged reading at the company's Spark Theatre Festival NYC last fall.

 



Aspire Performing Arts Company presents "Puffs"
 

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Constantine Maroulis, American Idol finalist and Tony Award nominee Broadway star of Rock and Roll Man, Rock of Ages, and Jekyll and Hyde, will delight audiences with stories and songs in an incredibly special, intimate performance at the Sieminski Theater on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 7:30pm. From classic Sondheim to contemporary Wildhorn, classic rock jams from Rock of Ages, along with Constantine's original songs.

(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Kiss The Sky, the World's Greatest Jimi Hendrix Tribute, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 7:30pm. Kiss The Sky meticulously recreates Jimi Hendrix's most iconic concert moments in detail with replica wardrobe, gear and sound. On September 30th, they will pay homage to one of Hendrix's final shows at the Isle of Wight Festival - Cry Of Love Tour 1970.

Entitled "Classically Black", the concert features selections of Nathaniel Dett, William Grant Still, Florence Price, Joseph Bologne—Chevalier de Saint-George, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and others.

 



New Jersey Festival Orchestra to open season with "Two Mighty Fifths"
 

(WESTFIELD, NJ) -- The four most iconic notes in classical music – Beethoven's Symphony No.5 – kick off New Jersey Festival Orchestra's exciting new program for the 2023-2024 season. The concert, which takes place Friday, October 6th at St Helen's Church in Westfield, juxtaposes Beethoven's relentless, triumphant and most famous orchestral work with a balm to soothe the spirits, Vaughan Williams' contemplative 5th Symphony. (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Comedian Aaron Kominos-Smith (Inside Amy Schumer, Live at Gotham) brings New York City stand-up comedy to Long Branch on Monday, October 16 at 7:00pm. Charles Honeywell’s narrative short, Pictures Only, will be shown online at the New Jersey Film Festival on Friday, September 29, 2023, for 24 hours. Telling the story of Louise Parker, an African American painter who specializes in African art, who is let go from her job and has received an eviction notice. She quickly finds a new job as a dancer at a strip club and loves the freedom and popularity it brings her. However, in exploring the lucrative business and her place within it, she risks her mother finding out and allowing her family to lose everything.

Arts Council of Princeton's Annual Pop-Up Beer Garden Will Serve Up Tasty Local Beer & Live Music in Support of Community Programs
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) will host a Pop-Up Beer Garden on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in partnership with Triumph Brewing Company. The event raises funds for the Arts Council's longstanding community outreach programs, public art initiatives, and year-long community events and projects.
