Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission Accepting Grant Applications for Local Arts Programs

(SOMERVILLE, NJ) -- The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission is accepting applications for the 2024 Local Arts Program Grant (LAP). These grants support local arts development within Somerset County and are available to organizations such as arts agencies, libraries, non-profits, and municipalities that offer art projects/programs, arts-related services, and support for arts development.



Starland Ballroom presents The Darkness, Celebrating 20th Anniversary of "Permission to Land"

(SAYREVILLE, NJ) -- This year finds Britain's beloved rock band The Darkness celebrating two decades since they released Permission To Land, the multi-platinum, chart-topping debut album. To celebrate, the band is releasing a special 20th anniversary collection called Permission To Land...Again, due out October 6th on Warner Music and they will be embarking on the global Permission To Land 20 tour. The tour comes to the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 7:30pm.



Music Mountain Theatre Hosts First Meet and Greet

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- On Thursday, August 24, Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) hosted their first-ever invited dress rehearsal, where donors who had contributed at the current level of Benefactor or higher were welcomed for an intimate cocktail reception and meet and greet with the cast, crew, and creative team before getting to sit in on the final dress rehearsal of All Shook Up before opening night.

If you are looking for a good show to see to finish your summer viewing, consider going to New World Stages for Rock & Roll Man. This musical journey tells the story of the beginnings of rock and roll. It focuses on the legendary DJ Alan Freed. Freed brought the music of black artists to the mainstream at a time when segregation was in full swing in the U.S. He is also credited with popularizing the term Rock and Roll to the emerging genre.

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre is currently presenting the hilarious musical comedy, Disaster! from August 22 - September 3, 2023. The play takes place in 1979, and New York's hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. Conversational Coloring at Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch

(SURF CITY, NJ) -- Adults are welcome to spend a relaxing afternoon coloring while soothing music sparks the imagination at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch. "Adult Coloring and Conversation" will take place on Thursday, September 14. The program will be held on the second Thursday of each month at 2:00pm.

PBS' Independent Lens Launches 20th Season of Free Pop-Up Screening Series in Teaneck and Nationwide

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.

State Theatre New Jersey presents The Sound Studio Series 2026
