United Solo Concludes 2023 Fall Season With Grand Awards Gala
 

​​​​​​​Opening its 15th season on September 25 with a record-breaking week of sold-out shows, United Solo's fall festival featured over sixty solo artists from across the globe in its eight-week run. Every genre was represented, from comedy to dance, and twenty-eight shows sold out. The Festival attracted New York audiences including solo theatre enthusiasts, visitors, the press, and show business stars. The lineup of shows offered theatregoers plenty of variety and included the most popular piece, "Mister Halston," performed by Ken Barnett.

 



First Avenue Playhouse presents "A Christmas Chaos"
 

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- First Avenue Playhouse presents A Christmas Chaos by Michael Wehrli in December. When the Royal Shakespeare Company doesn’t show up to perform their  stirring rendition of a Christmas Carol it’s up to this intrepid band of hapless actors and technicians to put together their own production in less than seven hours.

George Street Playhouse presents "Having Our Say"
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse presents Having Our Say, the Tony Award-nominated play by Emily Mann (A Streetcar Named Desire, Anna and the Tropics). Having Our Say is adapted from the book by Sarah (Sadie) L. Delany & A. Elizabeth (Bessie) Delany with Amy Hill Hearth and is directed by Laiona Michelle (Her Portmanteau). The production begins previews Tuesday, November 28, 2023, with opening night set for Friday, December 1 for a limited run through Sunday, December 17, 2023.

New Jersey Youth Symphony Presents Family-Friendly All That Jazz! Holiday Concert on December 10
 

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- The New Jersey Youth Symphony presents a family-friendly All that Jazz! Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the Margaret Williams Theatre at New Jersey City University in Jersey City. On this enchanting music-filled journey, the award-winning NJYS Youth Symphony led by Helen H. Cha-Pyo will bring the magic of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite to life. Showtime is 3:00pm.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Elects New Board Members
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) recently elected two new members to its board of Trustees at the Art Center's most recent annual meeting, held on November 13, 2023. Anamaria LLanos and Philemona Williamson will begin serving immediately and their terms will run through November 2026.

RVCC Event to Share Author's "Trans-Glam-Punk-Rock Love Story"
 

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Department of English will present an afternoon of words and music featuring author Lynette Reini-Grandell, December 4, 2023 at 4:00pm. The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held in the Atrium at the College's Branchburg campus. Reini-Grandell will read from her memoir, Wild Things: A Trans-Glam-Punk-Rock Love Story, and her spouse, musician Venus de Mars, will play guitar. The book shares the story of the couple's relationship.
