Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater To Perform At NJPAC In May 2022

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 8:00pm, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 8:00pm, and Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 3:00pm.  They will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Revelations, the cultural treasure that changed modern dance forever.

Nimbus Arts Festival To Take Place May 22nd

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Nimbus leads Jersey City and statewide audiences back to live performance with the first annual, star-studded, outdoor Nimbus Arts Festival, presented on the Harborside Campus on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 7:00pm.  The event features a lineup of nationally-renowned and locally-loved performing artists including Nimbus Dance, Jersey City’s hometown dance company, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, co-presentations with Segunda Quimbamba Puerto Rican Folkloric Center, Riverview Jazz Festival and Hudson West Folk Festival, the Festival offers world-class arts in a laid-back and socially-distanced atmosphere, complete with food trucks, drink refreshments by CoolVines, and artisan vendors. 



Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Announces Dancers For "The Bridge" May 10-14

(FORT LEE, NJ) -- In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company has established a new dance institute through Zoom, The Bridge.  The Institute’s aim is to bring together dancers, choreographers and directors around the world to experience the master teachers of color whose practices are embedded in the community and are focused on advancing the art of dance that transform the personal, environmental and metaphysical spaces.

Outside The Lines Site Specific Dance Project To Premiere at Centenary Stage Company On May 15th

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company will host the premiere of the Outside the Lines Dance Project, on May 15, 2021 at 3:00pm, on the Front lawn of Seay Building. (rain date May 16). Co-founded by Centenary University dance and theater professors, Maureen Glennon Clayton and Lea Antolini Lid, Outside the Lines intention is to present immersive site-specific dance experiences throughout the state of New Jersey.

Brooke Katsafados, New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble Dancer, To Receive Governor's Student Award For Artistic Excellence and Leadership In Dance

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble Dancer, Brooke Katsafados, a senior from Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey will receive a Governor’s Award for Arts Education: Student Award for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance. 



American Repertory Ballet Announces its Digital Spring Season

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- American Repertory Ballet will kick off its 2021 Digital Spring Season on April 23 with a series of original ballets. These new works will be available to local and global audiences, in the comfort of their homes.  The three pieces featured are all world premieres, each created between January – March 2021. Dancers rehearsed in designated “pods” while choreographers worked both in-studio and over Zoom.



SOPAC Presents Carolyn Dorfman Dance Online April 24

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Carolyn Dorfman Dance will appear in a virtual gala performance and benefit on Saturday, April 24 presented by SOPAC. The evening, entitled “Thrive,” will feature three works by the 10-member Company plus interview footage of Artistic Director and Choreographer Carolyn Dorfman speaking with dance writer and critic Robert Johnson. The performance begins at 7:30pm with a pre-glow event for company and donors starting at 6:30pm.
