(EDISON, NJ) -- With a new dance studio year now underway for many dancers and families, registration is officially open for the LIT Tap Dance Experience, coming to Edison VFW Post 3117 on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Presented by Taplife Hero Foundation, LIT is a focused one-day tap dance experience built around technique, musicality, artistry, mentorship and community.
Rather than operating like a large multi-discipline dance convention, LIT is intentionally smaller and more personal, giving tap dancers the opportunity to train, connect with professional artists and spend focused time immersed in the art form.
“LIT was created to give tap dancers more time to train, ask questions, work on musicality and connect with other dancers in a smaller setting,” said Anthony Lo Cascio, founder and executive director of Taplife Hero Foundation.
LIT welcomes dancers and dance families from Edison, throughout Central New Jersey and the surrounding region. Dance teachers and studios are also encouraged to share the opportunity with students looking for additional tap training during the 2026–2027 dance season.
Registration is now open and may be made online. Edison VFW Post 3117 is located at 53 National Road in Edison, New Jersey. The event, which runs from 9:45am - 8:15pm, is presented by Taplife Hero Foundation.
The experience extends beyond the dancers participating during the day.
LIT concludes with the LIT Talent Showcase, an evening event open to the local community. Audience members will have an opportunity to watch tap footage together, participate in a short Q&A and see live performances by dancers from the event.
The showcase gives families, friends, arts supporters and community members a way to experience tap dance even if they are not participating in the daytime training.
Lo Cascio is a professional tap dancer, educator, adjudicator and producer whose career has included performing with Tap Dogs and appearances alongside artists including Natalie Cole, Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder.
Taplife Hero Foundation uses tap dance, education, mentorship, performance and community-building to create opportunities for dancers and audiences while expanding access to tap dance beyond the traditional classroom or convention environment.
Since bringing home the Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Laurie Hernandez has gone on to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23 and her first book titled “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” chronicling her journey thus far was published in 2017, hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list. In 2018, she released a children’s picture book “She’s Got This,” also a New York Times Best Seller, while serving as a Literary Champion to promote readership as a path to leadership, and Mattel created Laurie Hernandez “Shero” Barbie to honor her.
