McCarter Theatre Center presents "Mrs. Christie" - a new comedy-mystery by Heidi Armbruster. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Mrs. Christie, a witty new comedy-mystery by Heidi Armbruster, from May 6–31, 2026. The production is directed by BOLD Associate Artistic Director Donya K. Washington in her McCarter directorial debut.

CDC Theatre to Close Out Season with "Fiddler On The Roof". (CRANFORD, NJ) — The final production of the 107th season at CDC Theatre in Cranford is the wonderful musical Fiddler On The Roof. The multi-award-winning tale of Tevye the Dairyman and his family's struggles in a changing Russia is a true musical theatre "tradition." Performances run weekends from May 1-17, 2026.

"Nate The Great" at Growing Stage. (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey is presenting Nate The Great weekends through May 17, 2026. In this musical, the world's greatest boy detective awakes, hoping that this day will bring a new case. He gets a call from his good friend Annie alerting him that her new painting of her dog Fang is missing! Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

Vivid Stage presents Meet the Artist New Play Readings throughout May. (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center, will present its annual Meet the Artist new play reading series on Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27. This year includes works by Brad Goren-Wilson, Vince Gatton, Erin Mallon, and Elizabeth Irwin. All readings will take place at the Summit Community Center (100 Morris Ave) at 7:00pm.

 State Theatre New Jersey presents The Sound Studio Series 2026. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey proudly presents The Sound Studio Series, an immersive musical experience that places concertgoers at the very heart of the performance. Held in STNJ's intimate Studio space, limited to just 80 attendees, The Sound Studio Series features a dynamic mix of both classical and rock performances. Each concert concludes with an exclusive post-show meet-and-greet with the artists, offering fans a rare opportunity to connect directly with the performers. Tickets for the series are $20-$30.

"Pippin" at Algonquin Arts Theatre. (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre is presenting Pippin from May 8–17, 2026. There's magic to do when a prince learns the true meaning of glory, love and war in Stephen Schwartz's iconic and unforgettable musical masterpiece. Thursday, May 14 - Punch Brothers to Kick off 28-City Tour at Mayo Performing Arts Center. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The Grammy Award-winning Punch Brothers will begin a twenty-eight city U.S. tour on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC). Tickets range from $53-$85. Thursday, May 14 - Middletown Arts Center presents The MAC One-Acts Play-Reading Festival on Thursday. (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- Middletown Arts Center presents the seventh edition of The MAC One-Acts Play-Reading Festival on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 7:00pm. The festival features original, one-act works by New Jersey playwrights read theatrically by local actors. Admission is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated.

The Stress Factory Comedy Club presents Kevin Nealon. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Stress Factory Comedy Club presents Kevin Nealon on May 15-16, 2026. Saturday, May 16 - Raul Midón Takes the Stage at the Grunin Center's Prima Theatre. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts welcomes Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Raul Midón to the Gia Maione Prima Foundation Studio Theatre on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 7:00pm. Saturday, May 16 - George Street Playhouse presents "Hirschfeld's Broadway". Hitchcock Meets Hilarious: Bergen County Players presents "The 39 Steps". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Fresh off being named the top live music or theater venue by 201 Magazine's "Best of Bergen" readers, Bergen County Players (BCP) invites audiences to brace themselves for a whirlwind of espionage and outrageous comedy with the Tony Award-winning The 39 Steps, which runs weekends from May 2-31, 2026. Chester Theatre Group presents "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder. Westfield Community Players presents "The Nerd" by Larry Shue. (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- Westfield Community Players presents The Nerd by Larry Shue across three weekends from May 2-16, 2026. The production is directed by Christopher Peterson. Aspiring young architect Willum Cubbert, in Terre Haute, Indiana, has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam.

Art House Productions presents the 8th Annual INKubator New Play Festival. (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions presents the 2026 INKubator New Play Festival from May 4-6 & May 11-13, 2026. This year's playwrights are Oded Gross, Erin Mallon, Kyle Mazer, Ferdinand Moscat, Allyson Dwyer, and Cristina Luzárraga. Audiences who attend the festival will have the opportunity to participate in conversations with the writers, directors, and actors following each performance. Ritz Theatre Company presents "Porgy and Bess". (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Porgy and Bess from May 1-24, 2026. Set in the 1930s in Catfish Row, a Black community in Charleston, South Carolina,the musical tells the story of Porgy, a kind but disabled beggar, and Bess, a woman trying to escape her violent lover Crown and the seductive pull of drugs offered by Sportin' Life. The production is directed by Darryl Thompson, Jr.

Burlington County Footlighters presents "The Pirates of Penzance". (CINNAMINSON, NJ) -- Burlington County Footlighters presents The Pirates of Penzance across three weekends from May 1-16, 2026. This is a swashbuckling operetta full of hilarity, hijinks, and heart. It features Book and Lyrics by William Gilbert; Music by Arthur Sullivan.

Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill: The Musical". (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill: The Musical" from May 8-23, 2026. This exhilarating musical was inspired by the themes and raw emotions laid bare in Alanis Morissette's seminal album of the same name.

bergenPAC's Performing Arts School to Hold Auditions for "Annie". (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- This summer, bergenPAC's Performing Arts School will light up the Taub Stage with the beloved Broadway classic Annie, running July 31 through August 2, 2026. Auditions for the production will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Digital audition submissions will also be accepted now through May 13th. Callbacks will be on May 20th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.

Stage Players presents "Alice By Heart". (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Stage Players (ages 13-17) at Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Alice By Heart from May 14-16, 2026 at Haddonfield Methodist Church. From the Tony® and Grammy® award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Center Drama to Hold Auditions for "Grease" this week. (DEAL, NJ) -- Center Drama will hold in-person auditions for Grease on May 14 and May 17, 2026 at JCC Performing Arts Theater (100 Grant Avenue) in Deal, NJ. Virtual auditions are accepted until May 15th. With a hip-shaking rock 'n' roll score featuring hits like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin" and "We Go Together," Grease celebrates Rydell High's class of 1959 in all their duck-tailed, bobby-soxed, gum-snapping glory.

The Barn Theatre presents Monty Python's "Spamalot". (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- The Barn Theatre presents Monty Python's Spamalot weekends from May 15 through June 6, 2026. King Arthur's legendary quest for the Holy Grail gets a hilarious twist in this uproarious musical, lovingly ripped from the 1975 classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The Levoy Theatre presents "Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Musical". (MILLVILLE, NJ) -- The Levoy Theatre presents Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Musical from May 15-17, 2026. Based on the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Book Series by Jeff Kinney and the 20th Century Studios Films, the musical contains a Book by Kevin del Aguila; Music and Lyrics by Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Disaster!". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Disaster! weekends from May 15 through June 7, 2026. Earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos and the unforgettable songs of the '70s take center stage in Broadway’s side-splitting homage to classic disaster films.

First Avenue Playhouse presents "Old Love". (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- First Avenue Playhouse presents Old Love by Norm Foster across three weekends from May 15-30, 2026. This love story spans three decades with half a dozen meetings between Bud, a salesman, and Molly, his boss's wife.

American Theater Group presents "The Unwitting Magician". (UNION, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG) will once again present The Unwitting Magician, a special work in development by Jeremy Dobrish, May 16-17, 2026 at the DMK Black Box Theater at the Union Arts Center. The piece was successfully presented last December as part of ATG's Free Monday Night Play Reading Series.

The Theater Project presents a Staged Reading of "House Rules" by Jack McGrath on May 16th. (CRANFORD, NJ) -- The Theater Project's 2026 New Play Readings series will present a staged reading of Jack McGrath's House Rules on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Cranford Community Center's 110-seat theater. The play tells the story of Bobby Ray – a man who has walked across America to return "home" to try and avert a family tragedy. The problem is that the family he returns to refuses to recognize him, and his homecoming has come 10 years too late.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "Private Lives". (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents Private Lives by Noël Coward from May 16 to June 7, 2026 in the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. A razor-sharp comedy of manners, Private Lives crackles with Coward's signature wit and elegance.

Red Bull Theater presents a reading of "Cymbeline, Refinished" on May 18th. (NEW YORK, NY) -- The award-winning Red Bull Theater will conclude their spring Revelation Readings Series on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 7:30pm with Cymbeline, Refinished by William Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw and directed by Michael Sexton.

New Jersey Repertory Company presents a staged reading of "Portrait of a Woman in Repose" by Nicky Glossman . (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company presents a staged reading of "Portrait of a Woman in Repose" by Nicky Glossman on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the West End Arts Center. Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club presents Sheba Mason this weekend. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club presents Sheba Mason on May 15-16, 2026. Born into a theatrical family – Jackie Mason (comedian) and Ginger Reiter (playwright) – Sheba has been performing since the age of two as a stage prop in her mother's play where she sat in her high chair and drank from her bottle.
