Forte Piano Music Company presents Exquisite Contrasts: Haydn & Schubert Piano Trios

Published by New Jersey Stage

originally published: 10/11/2026

(PARAMUS, NJ) -- The Forte Piano Music Company presents a Piano Trio Concert - "Exquisite Contrasts" - Haydn & Schubert on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 2:30pm. This program brings together two landmarks of the piano trio repertoire, revealing the evolution of the genre from the Classical era to early Romanticism.

Haydn’s Piano Trio in G major combines elegance and clarity with brilliant instrumental writing. The work takes its familiar “Gypsy” nickname from its exhilarating finale, Rondo all’Ongarese — “Rondo in the Hungarian style.” Its rapid rhythms, lively syncopations, and folk-inspired character bring the trio to a dazzling conclusion.

Schubert’s Piano Trio in E-flat major unfolds on a broader, almost symphonic scale. Its memorable melodies and close dialogue between violin, cello, and piano move between tenderness, contemplation, lyricism, and dramatic intensity.

Although contrasting in style and emotional scope, both works are rooted in the Viennese tradition and demonstrate a profound understanding of musical dialogue. Together, they offer an afternoon of distinguished chamber music, performed with energy, sensitivity, and expressive depth.

Tickets start at $23.18 and are available for purchase online. The Forte Piano Music Company is located at 159 Route 4 in Paramus, New Jersey.

This matinee performance will mark the return of The Outcrops to the Lizzie Rose Music Room. Their debut at the Lizzie Rose last year showcased a band that had all the ingredients to be something special. Their return will  prove that they have continued to elevate their game and will deliver a stellar evening of jams. The addition of a keyboard player fills up their arrangements and adds a whole new dimension to their sound. They deliver a perfect mix of songs from their new album and some very cool covers. To expound on that thought a bit, they usually drop the iconic jam "Sissy Strut" by proving they can get down with the funk.
