(LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia will hold auditions for Steel Magnolias on Sunday, October 11 from 6:00pm–8:00pm and Monday, October 12, 2026 from 7:00pm–9:00pm. The first round will consist of monologues. Audition sides for callbacks will be provided at the monologue auditions. The theater is located at 130 Grand Ave in Leonia, New Jersey.
Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling: Laughter, tears, and resilience flow as freely as the hairspray in this beloved story of a close-knit group of Southern women who gather at Truvy’s beauty salon. Equal parts heart and humor, Steel Magnolias offers an emotionally satisfying night of theatre that has become a modern classic - ideal for multi-generational audiences, friend groups, and mother-daughter outings. The production will be directed by Joplin James Sell, last seen on the PGL stage in our Perry Award winning production of The Normal Heart.
Callbacks will take place Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 7:00pm–9:00pm. Callbacks will include scene work between actors, with the final cast selected from there.
Rehearsals: First Cast Meeting/Read-Through:Sunday, November 1 from 4:00pm–6:00pm. Rehearsals Begin: Monday, November 2. Rehearsals will generally be: Mondays & Wednesdays from 7:00pm–9:00pm; Sundays from 4:00pm–6:00pm. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided after casting.
Tech Week: January 17–21, 2027. Cast members must be available for all of tech week and all performances. Any rehearsal conflicts must be discussed with the director in advance.
Performances take place Fridays & Saturdays: January 22, 23, 29, 30 & February 5, 6; Sundays: January 24, 31 & February 7.
