(SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre presents Assassins across two weekends from October 9 -17, 2026. In this musical, our nation's most notorious assassins gather on stage to violently pursue a twisted American Dream.
A multiple Tony Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force, Assassins combines Sondheim’s signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation’s culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it, embodied by America’s four successful and five would-be presidential assassins. Bold, original, disturbing and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.
Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical “revusical” that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
The cast includes Tracey Lynne Haskell (The Proprietor), Patrick Loughstein (The Balladeer), KC Boyle (John Wilkes Booth), Ian DiGuilio (Charles J. Guiteau), Liam McGeary (Leon Czolgosz), Lexi Luckenbaugh (Giuseppe Zangara), Matthew Finnerty (Samuel Byck), Hayley Pellis (Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme), Jessica Cogan (Sara Jane Moore), Luke Gavin (John Hinckley Jr.). The Ensemble includes: Angel Cruz, Cynthia DiMarco, Abby Glass, Lisa Rogol, and David Teano.
Performances take place Friday, October 9 at 7:30pm; Saturday, October 10 at 7:30pm; Sunday, October 11 at 2:00pm; Thursday, October 15 at 7:30pm; Friday, October 16 at 7:30pm; and Saturday, October 17 at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The theater is located at 515 DeMott Lane in Somerset, New Jersey.

Since bringing home the Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Laurie Hernandez has gone on to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23 and her first book titled “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” chronicling her journey thus far was published in 2017, hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list. In 2018, she released a children’s picture book “She’s Got This,” also a New York Times Best Seller, while serving as a Literary Champion to promote readership as a path to leadership, and Mattel created Laurie Hernandez “Shero” Barbie to honor her.
