(SPRING LAKE, NJ) -- Spring Lake Theatre Company presents Noises Off by Michael Frayn across three weekends from October 9-24, 2026. Wildly fast-paced farce that reveals the hilarious backstage disasters of a touring play.
A brilliantly crafted farce, Noises Off takes audiences behind the scenes of a struggling theatre troupe performing a wildly chaotic play. What starts as a simple production quickly unravels into a hilarious disaster of missed cues, slamming doors, and backstage antics.
Known for its impeccable timing and physical comedy, this play is a love letter to the unpredictability of live theatre.
Performances take place Fridays at 7:30pm and Saturdays at 2:00pm & 7:30pm. Tickets start at $35 and are available for purchase online. The theater is located at 300 Madison Avenue in Spring Lake, New Jersey.

Noises Off premiered at The Savoy Theatre in London’s West End on February 23, 1982. The play made its Broadway premiere at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on December 11, 1983. Directed by Michael Blakemore, the Broadway production featured Victor Garber, Dorothy Loudon, Brian Murray, Linda Thorson, Paxton Whitehead, Deborah Rush, Jim Piddock, Douglas Seale and Amy Wright. Noises Off returned to Broadway twice, in 2001 and 2016.
Author Michael Frayn was born in London in 1933. He began his career as a reporter for the Guardian and later the Observer. After leaving the Observer he continued to write as a columnist as well as publishing novels and plays for television and stage.
His plays for stage include Copenhagen, After Life, The Two of Us, Alphabetical Order, Donkeys’ Years, Clouds, Balmoral (Liberty Hall), Make and Break, Noises Off, Benefactors, Alarms and Excursions, Look Look, Here and Make and Break. Other translations include four full-length Chekhov plays (The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters, The Seagull and Uncle Vanya) and four one-act plays (The Evils of Tobacco, Swan Song, The Bear and The Proposal).
Since bringing home the Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Laurie Hernandez has gone on to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23 and her first book titled “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” chronicling her journey thus far was published in 2017, hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list.
