(FRENCHTOWN, NJ) -- Keigwin + Company presents Stage Door at ArtYard on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 7:30pm. This is a community-enhanced show inspired by the artist’s life on the other side of the stage door, featuring professional performers and community members alike.
Artistic Director Larry Keigwin and Co-Choreographer Nicole Wolcott expand upon their acclaimed duet Places Please (2017) as they explore the universal themes of acceptance, aging, and finding your place in the world through the lens of the audition.
Brought to life by Larry, Nicole, K+C dancers, and more than 25 Frenchtown community members, Stage Door will be full of backstage antics and surprising emotional moments that capture the imagination and magic of the theater, with performances at both ArtYard and Works & Process at the Guggenheim in NYC.
K+C hosted a movement workshop this summer and invited Frenchtown community members of all ages to join us to create Stage Door. No experience required, just enthusiasm and energy! Stage Door celebrates each person’s unique creative voice as performers claim their space on stage. Community cast members will be guided through a playful choreographic process with Larry, Nicole, and K+C dancers using games and guided improvisation to allow you to uncover your creativity and physicality, find new ways of moving, dance alongside their neighbors, and have fun.

Since bringing home the Gold and Silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Laurie Hernandez has gone on to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23 and her first book titled “I Got This: To Gold and Beyond” chronicling her journey thus far was published in 2017, hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list. In 2018, she released a children’s picture book “She’s Got This,” also a New York Times Best Seller, while serving as a Literary Champion to promote readership as a path to leadership, and Mattel created Laurie Hernandez “Shero” Barbie to honor her.
