Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, written by Edward Albee, is a well respected play of the American theater.It has the ability to convey a dark but deeply human look at marriage, illusion, disappointment, and desire.
Performances are at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) now though September 27th. It runs for 3 hours and 10 minutes with two 10 minute intermissions.
Press notes describe it in this way: “Over the course of one unforgettable evening, George and Martha invite a younger couple into their home for what begins as a friendly late-night drink and spirals into a devastating battle of wit, truth, and emotional reckoning.”
“This play is one of the most ferocious battles of love, wit, and creative power ever put on stage,” said director Nisi Sturgis. “It is funny in every sense of the word — hilarious and peculiar. Thrilling as a car crash, its magnetism doesn’t let us look away as it explodes the facade to reveal raw truth.”
The cast includes Antoinette LaVecchia as Martha. Andrew Borba plays the role of George. Abby Burris plays the role of Honey and Michael Underhill portrays Nick.

Stop off at the lobby bar where you will find two Specialty Cocktails. You can raise a glass to Truth or Illusions which are the colorful named drinks inspired by the deliciously blurred line between the reality and fantasy in the show. I sampled Truth and I became a believer. Quite delicious.
You also might want to visit the gallery just off the lobby to see “Layers and Illusions” by Amy Putman. This New Jersey based mixed-media artist does work that incorporates collage, textile, and assemblage to explore social consciousness, identity, and human connection through visual storytelling.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf runs at the STNJ now though September 27, 2026 on Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays, and select Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. Their location is the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave,, Madison, NJ on the campus of Drew University.

The Montclair Art Museum presents the First Major Solo Exhibition in the USA for Canadian Indigeneous Artist Nadia Myre
(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Montclair Art Museum presents Nadia Myre: Analog/ues, the first major exhibition in the U.S. celebrating the multidisciplinary work of Canadian Indigenous artist Nadia Myre (Algonquin, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, b. 1974). Featuring more than 40 of Myre's experimental works—including ceramic beadwork, digital prints, videos, mixed media, and textiles—the exhibition invites cross-cultural dialogues about Native and settler histories of North America. The presentation emphasizes her recent work and debuts new, large-scale pieces. On view from September 19, 2026, through January 17, 2027, the exhibition is organized by the Montclair Art Museum, curated by Laura J. Allen, Curator of Native American Art and Repatriation Coordinator, and is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.

In The Bond That Broke, director Jeff Mizushima explores this through mother and daughter Kathi Ross-Nash and Dr. Zoe Ross-Nash, whose lives have both been shaped by eating disorders in very different ways. Kathi struggled with bulimia for decades, while Zoe became a clinical psychologist largely because of what she learned about her mother’s experience with an eating disorder. Their stories make them feel like two sides of the same coin.
