(PRINCETON, NJ) -- New Jersey-based theater company Chimera Productions will present its 17th production, Job by Max Wolf Friedlich, from August 13-15, 2026 at 8:00pm each night. The play, presented in the intimate 60-seat theater inside Princeton's Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, is a psychological thriller that offers a sharp, darkly funny, and unsettling examination of our addiction to work, the internet, the cost of modern life, and what we're willing to sacrifice to belong.
The 80-minute drama unfolds entirely within a single therapy session. Jane, a young woman placed on leave after a breakdown at her Big Tech job went viral, will do almost anything to get back to work. Her new therapist, Lloyd, holds the power to authorize her return, but the more they talk, the more the power dynamics between them twist and unravel in unexpected ways.

"Job by Max Wolf Friedlich is critically important right now. It takes a fierce look at the issues that affect everyone today and how technology intersects with community and the powerful influence it has over us as individuals and as a whole. Chimera has partnered with the Arts Council of Princeton for more than 20 years in staging theater that challenges the audience and the actors, exploring topics that affect us all and provoking deep introspection while remaining intimate and affordable for everyone," said codirector Griffiths.
Davis and Griffiths are committed to keeping theater affordable, with tickets available for as little as $20, comparable to a movie ticket, thereby opening the art form to a wide range of audiences. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 7:30pm each night of the performance for $25 ($20 for Students/Seniors and ACP members), via cash, Venmo or PayPal. Paul Robeson Center for the Arts is located at 102 Witherspoon Street in Princeton, New Jersey.
Chimera Productions is a fiercely independent theater founded by artists Jeffrey Alan Davis and Drew Griffiths with the single mission to produce plays that would not only challenge the players on stage but the audience as well. Chimera focuses on work with strong central themes that challenge conventional norms and provoke discussion while exploring the powerful bond between artist and audience.
Past performances include Outside the Frame, Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, Constellations, The Other Place, Dead Man's Cell Phone, On An Average Day, Bottle Factory, Love Song, After Ashley and Never Swim Alone. Past performances featured Rafael J. Silva (Fox's 9-1-1 Lone Star), Michelle Wood (Proof - Open Arts PAC), Janet Quartarone (Shakespeare 70), David Sullivan and other national and regional talent.
The company's goal is to only produce work that is interesting, enlightening, and not often seen; to explore the power of theater, and the bond between artist and live audience. Job is their 17th production at the Arts Council of Princeton.
