Here are previews of plays taking place from January 27 to February 2, 2026 including a look at productions currently being presented and those coming soon. FEATURED EVENTS

"Kim's Convenience" comes to McCarter Theatre Center  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center welcomes the new year with Kim's Convenience, the award-winning comedy about a Korean family-run corner store that inspired the hit CBC television series later distributed internationally on Netflix. Running in the Berlind Theatre from January 23 through February 15, 2026, the play brings heart and humor to the stage as it explores family, identity, and resilience in a rapidly changing world.

Heidi Schreck's "What the Constitution Means to Me" is Coming to Morristown  (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Pioneer Productions is excited to announce a special, limited-engagement run of Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me, coming to Morristown in early 2026. The play will run for five performances only, weekends from January 31 to February 8, 2026 at the Stage at Fellowship Hall in Morristown.

MPAC to hold auditions for Disney's Frozen  (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Let it Go! Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)'s 2026 spring production will be Disney's Frozen. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this musical includes all the film's beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage. The show will be directed by Cathy Roy. Music Direction by Charles Santoro.

Manhattan Theatre Club presents "Bug" by Tracy Letts  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) presents the Broadway premiere of Bug, written by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts (August: Osage County, The Minutes) and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (Prayer for the French Republic at MTC, The Band's Visit). The production begins performances on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Opening night is Thursday, January 8, 2026.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "Company" by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth  (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Company by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth weekends from January 9 to February 1, 2026. The musical asks the question: what does it mean to be alive, alone, and in love in the city that never sleeps?

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Grease"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Grease weekends from January 9 through February 1, 2026. With a hip-shaking rock 'n' roll score featuring hits like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'" and "We Go Together," Grease celebrates 50s high school, romance, and coming of age.

The Barn Theatre presents "Misery"  (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- The Barn Theatre presents Misery weekends from January 16 to February 1, 2026. The play by William Goldman is based on the novel by Stephen King in which a romance novelist is kidnapped by his obsessed fan, Annie Wilkes, who demands he write a new Misery novel.

Somerset Valley Players presents "Drinking Habits"  (HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) -- Somerset Valley Players presents Drinking Habits by Tom Smith weekends from January 16 through February 1, 2026. Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce.

Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Shrek, The Musical"  (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Shrek, The Musical weekends from January 16-31, 2026. Everyone's favorite ogre is back in the hilarious stage spectacle based on the Oscar-winning, smash hit film.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Merrily We Roll Along"  (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Merrily We Roll Along weekends from January 16 through February 8, 2026. Sondheim's semi-autobiographical musical turns back the clock on friendship and the high price of success. It is a spirited and moving cautionary tale for anyone who has ever pursued a dream.

The Road Company presents "Groundhog Day: The Musical"  (WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ) -- The Road Company presents Groundhog Day: The Musical weekends from January 22 to February 7, 2026. Critically acclaimed on both the West End and Broadway, Groundhog Day revels in one man's journey of self-discovery, day after day.

Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia Premiere of "Good Bones"  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia premiere of Good Bones, the newest play by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright James Ijames (Fat Ham), about gentrification and the consequences of change in a neighborhood and in a family. Directed by Philadelphia-based award-winning actor Akeem Davis, the production begins performances January 22, opens January 28, and runs through March 8, 2026.

The Maplewood Strollers presents "Narnia, the Musical"  (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- Four children—siblings—stumble upon (and through) a wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia. Relieve this magical story when The Maplewood Strollers presents Narnia, the Musical across two weekends (January 23 - February 1, 2026) at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts. The production is directed by Beth Seales-Hanson.

The Players Guild of Leonia presents "Blithe Spirit" by Noël Coward  (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward weekends from January 23 to February 8, 2026 in the Civil War Drill Hall. In Noël Coward’s sparkling classic, a well-intentioned séance conjures up far more than anyone expected.

Chatham Players presents "Any Night" by Daniel Arnold & Medina Han  (CHATHAM, NJ) -- Chatham Players presents Any Night by Daniel Arnold & Medina Han weekends from January 23 to February 1, 2026. The writers/performers of the international hit Tuesdays & Sundays are back with a contemporary Hitchcockian thriller.

Burlington County Footlighters presents "Calendar Girls"  (CINNAMINSON, NJ) -- Burlington County Footlighters presents Calendar Girls by Tim Firth weekends from January 23 through February 7, 2026. It is based on the true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

Chatham Players Black Box Series presents "Any Night"  (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players' Black Box Series presents Any Night by Daniel Arnold and Medina Han across two weekends from January 23 - February 1, 2026. It tells the story of Anna, a troubled dancer who is looking for a fresh start. Patrick is her helpful upstairs neighbor. As the pair falls for each other, Anna's sleepwalking and night terrors put them both in danger. Sleep is anything but peaceful in this gothic thriller that blurs dreams and reality.

Main Street Theatre Company presents Disney's "High School Musical"  (OLD BRIDGE, NJ) -- Main Street Theatre Company presents Disney's High School Musical across two weekends from January 24 to February 1, 2026. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.

Passage Theatre presents the World Premiere of "Muleheaded, or Zora and Langston Write a Play"  (TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre, the only professional theatre company in Trenton, presents the World Premiere of David Robson's Muleheaded, or Zora and Langston Write a Play from January 29 through February 16, 2026. The play is based on a seldom told true story between literary giants Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes. Robson had previously written Passage Theatre's fall 2022 production of Blues in My Soul.

Avenel PAC presents "Death Do Us Part"  (AVENEL, NJ) -- The Avenel Performing Arts Center presents Death Do Us Part from January 30-31, 2026 with performances at 6:00pm each night. Death Do Us Part is a wedding murder mystery by Tony Ardolino.

Theater To Go presents the Psychological Thriller "Gaslight" at Kelsey Theatre  (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Theater To Go presents Gaslight, Patrick Hamilton's gripping Victorian psychological thriller, at the Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor campus of Mercer County Community College. Performances run weekends from January 30 through February 8, 2026.

The Triad Theater presents selections from The Rock Musical "Soul Searching" in concert  (NEW YORK, NY) -- The Triad Theater presents Selections from The Rock Musical Soul Searching in concert on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 9:30pm. This special performance highlights almost twenty numbers from this sung-through show and features a soon-to-be-announced stellar cast from Broadway, Off Broadway and national tours as well as a live rock band.

Gateway Playhouse To Host A Musical Fundraiser on January 31st  (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Gateway Playhouse will host a special one-night-only musical fundraiser titled "Old Friends: A Night of Songs and Stories" featuring Debby Jenkins and Brian Conover on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 7:00pm. Proceeds for the event go directly to Gateway Playhouse.

Broadway Bound Kids to Hold 4th Annual Benefit Concert: Empower State of Mind at City Winery  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Broadway Bound Kids (BBK) will hold its Fourth Annual Benefit Concert, Empower State of Mind on Monday, February 2, 2026 in the mainstage at City Winery. The evening will celebrate the empowering impact of arts education in young lives as well as their community. The dazzling night is in exaltation of the influence of the "city that never sleeps" and New York City's greatest contribution to theater – Broadway. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "Come From Away"  (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents Come From Away from February 4 to March 1, 2026. The play deals with September 11, 2001 - the day the world stopped - and September 12, when a small Newfoundland town started bringing people together. Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 stranded airplane passengers welcomed by a community that turned fear into friendship and strangers into family.

Jesse Eisenberg, José Rivera, Christopher Goutman, Lyle Kessler to perform at 2026 Chain Winter One-Act Festival  (NEW YORK, NY) -- The 2026 edition of the Chain Winter One-Act Festival takes place from February 5 through March 1, 2026, at Chain Theatre (312 West 36th Street, 3rd and 4th Floors, New York, NY). The festival has become one of the city's largest and most dynamic showcases for new work.

The Village Playbox presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream"  (HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Village Playbox presents William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream across three weekends from February 6-21, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. The production is directed by Natasha Thompson.

Light Opera of New Jersey presents "Rigoletto" at The Sieminski Theater  (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Light Opera of New Jersey presents Rigoletto at The Sieminski Theater February 7-8, 2026. Experience the raw passion and haunting power of Verdi’s Rigoletto, a tragic tale of love, betrayal, and revenge.

Rutgers-Camden Theater presents "Hand Me Down the Silver Trumpet" by Kenneth Elliott  (CAMDEN, NJ) -- Rutgers–Camden Theater kicks off 2026 with Kenneth Elliott's, Hand Me Down the Silver Trumpet, which celebrates the legacy of great African American musical artists of the 1920s and 30s who recorded "race records" for the Victor Talking Machine Company, and features performances of classic blues, jazz, and spirituals performed by special guest artists, students, alumni, and a truly swinging band.

October Ensemble Theater Company presents The Sweetest Crime: A Chocolate Covered Murder Mystery  (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- The October Ensemble Theater Company presents The Sweetest Crime: A Chocolate Covered Murder Mystery weekends from February 6 though March 1, 2026 at the Jersey Shore Arts Center.

North Star Theater Company to hold auditions for "The 39 Steps"  (OGDENSBURG, NJ) -- North Star Theater Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of The 39 Steps on Friday, February 6 from 6:30pm–9:30pm and Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00pm–5:00pm at the NSTC Studio (21 Kennedy Avenue) in Ogdensburg, New Jersey.

The Growing Stage presents a modern take on a classic story with "Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale"  (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey presents Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale. With a book and lyrics by Karen Zacarías (Ella Enchanted) and music by Deborah Wicks La Puma (Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus), this vibrant production runs weekends from February 6–15, 2026. The play poses the question: What will happen to Cinderella at the ball... game?

Bergen County Players presents "Play On!" by Rick Abbot  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players presents Play On!, the fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy by Rick Abbot, weekends from February 7-28, 2026 at Oradell's Little Firehouse Theater. Dubbed a "love letter to community theater," Play On! offers audiences a rare double feature: the play as it’s meant to be performed... and the play as it actually is.

Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater & Music Theater presents a workshop of a new work in development "No One is Forgotten: An Immersive Opera Drama"  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents No One is Forgotten: An Immersive Opera Drama from February 7-8, 2026 in the Wallace Theater at the Lewis Arts complex on the Princeton campus. The work is the first live performance of a tale of intimacy, surrender and the will to survive.

Brundage Park Playhouse presents "Brighton Beach Memoirs" by Neil Simon  (RANDOLPH, NJ) -- Brundage Park Playhouse presents Brighton Beach Memoirs by Neil Simon across two weekends from February 12-22, 2026. A perfect coming-of-age comedy, this play follows Eugene Jerome as he navigates the problems that come with being a teenager during the Great Depression.

Rialto Spotlight Series Continues with Westfield Native Playwright Marc Acito  (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- The Rialto Center for Creativity's Spotlight Series continues into 2026 with an event that brings playwright, novelist, and humorist Marc Acito back to his hometown to discuss his decades-long creative career, which spans Broadway, The New York Times, NPR, and more. The event will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Rialto Center for Creativity. It begins at 7:00pm.

George Street Playhouse presents limited runs of "My First Ex-Husband" and "True Tales of Sex, Success and the City" for February  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse has announced additional programming for February 2026, including My First Ex-Husband, written & performed by Joy Behar ("The View"), and True Tales of Sex, Success and the City, written and performed by Candace Bushnell ("Sex and the City").

CDC Theatre presents "It Shoulda Been You"  (CRANFORD, NJ) -- CDC Theatre presents It Shoulda Been You across three weekends from February 13 to March 1, 2026. This is Broadway's wild musical farce with blushing brides, nervous grooms, overbearing moms, unexpected guests and plenty of crazy twists and turns.

Villagers Theatre presents "Dogfight"  (SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre presents Dogfight across two weekends from February 13-22, 2026. Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film, Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey that stays with you long after the performance.

Nutley Little Theatre presents "Harvey" by Mary Chase  (NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre presents Harvey by Mary Chase weekends from February 13-28, 2026. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play is one of the longest-running comedies in Broadway and West End history, capturing the magic of amiable Elwood P. Dowd's friendship with his best friend, a tall white rabbit which only he can see.

Vivid Stage to Hold Annual Fundraising Gala on Valentine's Day  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage will hold its annual gala fundraiser on Saturday, February 14, 2026. This special Valentine's Day celebration will be held at the Oakes Center in Summit from 6:00pm-10:00pm.

Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"  (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre continues its powerful 2025–2026 season with Ken Kesey's electrifying stage adaptation of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, running for four performances only from February 14-21, 2026. A gripping and deeply human drama, the play is set inside a state mental institution where individuality clashes with authority.

(UNION, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG), in partnership with the Union Arts Center, will present a three-day Spotlight play reading event featuring works by New Jersey playwrights at the DMK Black Box Theater at the Union Arts Center from July 6-8, 2026 with performances at 7:00pm each night.

Live On Stage Productions presents "Together Off-Broadway: Merman & Martin in Concert" at Cape May Stage

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Live On Stage Productions presents Together Off-Broadway: Merman & Martin in Concert at Cape May Stage from July 4-10, 2026. This show celebrates the remarkable bond between Ethel Merman and Mary Martin — two of Broadway’s brightest stars.
