(CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players' Black Box Series presents Any Night by Daniel Arnold and Medina Han across two weekends from January 23 - February 1, 2026. It tells the story of Anna, a troubled dancer who is looking for a fresh start. Patrick is her helpful upstairs neighbor. As the pair falls for each other, Anna's sleepwalking and night terrors put them both in danger. Sleep is anything but peaceful in this gothic thriller that blurs dreams and reality.

Building off the success of three seasons of One Weekend Only, Chatham Players has expanded the program. This year, for the first time, one becomes two as these small cast shows will run for two weekends. Everything beloved about the series stays the same, just with more opportunities to see the show. Director Julia Cassisi is thrilled to be the first production with this expanded schedule.

"We are so excited to have two weekends to share this thrilling play with audiences," said Cassisi. "Any opportunity to direct a show is delightful but this is all the more meaningful that we get twice the chance for folks to see what we’ve created."

Any Night is directed by Julia Cassisi, and stars Lauren Muraski as Anna, Andrew Marr as Patrick with additional voices by Chip Prestera. The production stage manager is Aaron Kellner and the producers are Sarah Pharaon and Steve Ruskin.

Performances take place January 23-24, 30-31 at 8:00pm and January 25 & February 1 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $27 and available for purchase online. Chatham Playhouse is located at 23 North Passaic Avenue in Chatham, New Jersey. Patrons with special needs requiring seating accommodations should contact the Playhouse at least 24 hours prior to the performance. Without prior notice, accommodations cannot be guaranteed.

The Chatham Community Players’ Black Box Series features smaller casts, smaller sets, and are staged up close to the audience. These productions burn bright - but only for a very short time. Cassisi is thrilled that Any Night was selected for this type of series. She states, “The Black Box Series continually produces compelling and thought-provoking theatre. It’s a wonderful list of productions to be a part of and we’re honored to be up next.” Actor Marr, who is involved in his second Black Box show believes that Any Night is particularly the perfect show to be produced in this format. He states, “You’re not sitting back and watching it, you’re basically in the room with the actors, and it can feel a little claustrophobic in the best way possible. The closeness makes the dark stuff hit harder, there’s no escape from it.”

Though first produced in 2008, Any Night is a little unknown. Cassisi is looking to change that. “By producing little known or rarely produced plays, we’re able to push the envelope and hopefully surprise our audiences.” Marr also thinks this play won’t be easy to forget, “It’s the kind of show you want to experience all at once, feel it fully, and then walk away a little shaken.”

The Chatham Community Players has been entertaining residents of Morris County and the surrounding area since 1922. The organization’s mission is to produce high-quality theater for a diverse audience, while elevating its standard of excellence and providing a creative outlet with educational opportunities and outreach programs.

Funding has been made possible in part by Morris Arts through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
