Light of Day WinterFest 2026 Preview. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- It's time for the annual Light of Day shows! Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "Same Time, Next Year". Youth Performers Find Their Voice in ShowKids Invitational Theatre's "High School Musical". (GLEN GARDNER, NJ) -- ShowKids Invitational Theatre (SKIT) brings the high-energy Disney favorite High School Musical to the stage this winter, featuring a double cast of talented young performers at Voorhees High School in Lebanon Township. The production runs for two weekends, January 17–25, 2026, and celebrates friendship, teamwork, and the courage to break out of the expected.

"Kim's Convenience" comes to McCarter Theatre Center. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center welcomes the new year with Kim's Convenience, the award-winning comedy about a Korean family-run corner store that inspired the hit CBC television series later distributed internationally on Netflix. Running in the Berlind Theatre from January 23 through February 15, 2026, the play brings heart and humor to the stage as it explores family, identity, and resilience in a rapidly changing world.

2026 New Jersey Film Festival Video Overview. The New Jersey Film Festival returns to Rutgers University January 23 - February 22 for the Spring 2026 season! Al Nigrin, Executive Director and Curator, provides an overview of the films being showcased.

Friday, January 23 - Lee Brice: Acoustic with special guest Deltona at State Theatre. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey and The Bowery Presents, present Lee Brice: Acoustic with special guest Deltona on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 8:00pm.

The Growing Stage's Studio Series presents an all youth production of "Charlotte's Web". (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage's Studio Series presents an all youth production of Charlotte's Web from January 23-25, 2026. The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years," and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, created a play that captures this work in a thrilling theatrical presentation.

Friday, January 23 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents the Matt O'Ree Band. (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Jersey's own Matt O'Ree Band on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 7:30pm. Here's your chance to catch them in an intimate venue before they head off for a long tour of tropical locations.

Friday, January 23 - The Eye-opening Documentary B.F. Skinner Plays Himself Opens the 2026 New Jersey Film Festival. What led you to this article? A love for film? B.F. Skinner believed this wasn’t a choice but the result of psychologically programmed behavior. Skinner stands alongside Ivan Pavlov as a father of modern behaviorism. Yet, Skinner was interested in topics far beyond science. He wrote on the philosophical impacts of his discoveries, questioned free will, and became one of the most enigmatic academics of the 20th century. Saturday, January 24 - Anthony D'Amato to Headline Split Level Concerts Show. (OCEAN GROVE, NJ) — There are few songwriters who have impressed me over the years as much as Anthony D’Amato and I'm excited to see him be the first headliner for Split Level Concerts in 2026. He will be performing at the Jersey Shore Arts Center on Saturday, January 24th with the electrifying Deseree Spinks opening the night.

Saturday, January 24 - McCarter Theatre Center presents Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center presents Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 7:30pm in the Matthews Theatre. The internationally beloved troupe of male dancers will perform a combination of skillful pointe work and hilarious parodying of classical ballet favorites like Swan Lake.

Saturday, January 24 - Stunning documentary Portrait of a Monastery screens at the New Jersey Film Festival. A moving meditation, Portrait of a Monastery is a stunning documentary on the Holy Cross Monastery in upstate New York. In it, we are taken through three seasons in the lives of these monks. Sunday, January 25 - Gabby's Dollhouse Live! presented by Walmart comes to State Theatre. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Gabby's Dollhouse Live! Presented by Walmart on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 1:00pm & 4:00pm. This is a brand-new stage show inspired by the magical world of the global preschool sensation from DreamWorks Animation.

Sunday, January 25 - Haunting feature Anda screens at the 2026 New Jersey Film Festival. Anda directed by Jayendra Ganta is a haunting folktale of beauty and obligation. In it, an older woman finds the elixir of youth. It gives her body vitality and her face smoothness for days on end, turning her eyes its custom striking green. Based on a Nordic folktale, this film has a magical rhythm, accentuated by atmospheric music and the revolving settings of forest and home.

Thursday, January 22 - NJPAC presents a Spring Season of Jazz. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents a Spring Season of Jazz with free monthly jazz jams at Clement's Place and two special concert events inside the Victoria Theater. This series, running from September through June, is co-presented by NJPAC's Jazz Advisory Committee and Rutgers University–Newark's Institute of Jazz Studies (IJS). Immerse yourself in the relaxing sounds of jazz music that stimulate the players’ and listeners' minds.

Thursday, January 22 - Wellmont Theater presents Lettuce on Thursday. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Wellmont Theater presents Lettuce on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 8:00pm. The band's latest album, Cook, isn't just a nod to Lettuce's musical heat; it's an invitation to join the band at the table, where funk, soul, jazz, rock, and hip-hop come together in one rich, flavorful dish.

Friday, January 23 - The Legendary Wailers featuring Julian Junior Marvin come to the Scottish Rite Auditorium. Friday, January 23 - The Lords of 52nd Street return to Newton. Tickets range from $44-$59 and are available for purchase online.  The Newton Theatre is located at 234 Spring Street in Newton, New Jersey.

It's a night celebrating the life and music of Jill Sobule, hosted by Jim Boggia and Marykate O’Neil.

Saturday, January 24 - BBD Rhythm & Blues Band are 'Keeping the Blues Alive'. (OLD BRIDGE, NJ) -- People Get Ready for the 'Keeping the Blues Alive' 2026 Tour, featuring the BBD Rhythm & Blues Band. They have two shows in January - Sammy D's Bar Wine & Spirits in Old Bridge on Saturday, January 24th and Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Friday, January 30, 2026. Additional shows run throughout February.

Saturday, January 24 - Tesla comes to Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena with Special Guest Sebastian Bach. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Tesla are hitting the road with their Still Keepin' It Real Tour, and they're bringing along special guest Sebastian Bach for an unforgettable night at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City on Saturday, January 24. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Sunday, January 25 - Centenary Stage Company presents Big Beat Big Band as part of the Winter Thaw Music Festival. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents Big Beat Big Band as part of the Winter Thaw Music Festival on Sunday, January 25 , 2026 at 2:00pm. The performance will take place in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Centenary University in Hackettstown.

Arden Children's Theatre presents "A Wrinkle In Time". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- This winter, Arden Children's Theatre invites families to journey across time and space with an exciting adaptation of Madeline L'Engle's beloved book, A Wrinkle in Time. Adapted by John Glore, winner of the Newbery Medal, A Wrinkle in Time has inspired generations of readers, and even a major motion picture, since its publication. Now, the Arden brings this timeless classic to its stage for the first time. The production runs from December 3 through January 25, 2026.

Manhattan Theatre Club presents "Bug" by Tracy Letts. (NEW YORK, NY) -- Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) presents the Broadway premiere of Bug, written by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts (August: Osage County, The Minutes) and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer (Prayer for the French Republic at MTC, The Band's Visit). The production begins performances on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Opening night is Thursday, January 8, 2026.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "Company" by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth. (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Company by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth weekends from January 9 to February 1, 2026. The musical asks the question: what does it mean to be alive, alone, and in love in the city that never sleeps?

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Grease". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Grease weekends from January 9 through February 1, 2026. With a hip-shaking rock 'n' roll score featuring hits like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'" and "We Go Together," Grease celebrates 50s high school, romance, and coming of age.

Westfield Community Players presents "Time Stands Still" by Donald Margulies. (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- Westfield Community Players presents Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies across three weekends from January 10-24, 2026. The play focuses on Sarah and James, a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent trying to find happiness in a world that seems to have gone crazy.

The Barn Theatre presents "Misery". (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- The Barn Theatre presents Misery weekends from January 16 to February 1, 2026. The play by William Goldman is based on the novel by Stephen King in which a romance novelist is kidnapped by his obsessed fan, Annie Wilkes, who demands he write a new Misery novel.

Shakespeare 70 presents "Arms and the Man" at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Shakespeare 70 presents Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw weekends from January 16-25, 2026 at the Kelsey Theatre. One of Shaw's most enduringly popular comedies follows a hunted soldier who, seeking refuge in a young lady’s boudoir, starts in motion a series of unlikely comedic events.

Somerset Valley Players presents "Drinking Habits". (HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) -- Somerset Valley Players presents Drinking Habits by Tom Smith weekends from January 16 through February 1, 2026. Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce.

Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Shrek, The Musical". (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Shrek, The Musical weekends from January 16-31, 2026. Everyone's favorite ogre is back in the hilarious stage spectacle based on the Oscar-winning, smash hit film.

Villagers Theatre presents "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". (SOMERSET, NJ) -- Villagers Theatre presents The Mystery of Edwin Drood across two weekends from January 16-25, 2026. Based on Charles Dickens' final unfinished novel, this hilarious whodunit by Rupert Holmes invites the audience to solve its mystery by choosing the identity of the murderer.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Merrily We Roll Along". (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Merrily We Roll Along weekends from January 16 through February 8, 2026. Sondheim's semi-autobiographical musical turns back the clock on friendship and the high price of success. It is a spirited and moving cautionary tale for anyone who has ever pursued a dream.

Magnolia Productions presents "Becky's New Car" by Steven Dietz. (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- Magnolia Productions presents Becky's New Car by Steven Dietz from January 16-18, 23-24, 2026 at the Navesink Library. The play asks the question: have you ever been tempted to flee your own life?

Playhouse 22 presents "Yes, Virginia". (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Yes, Virginia, a heartfelt comedy by Stan Zimmerman and Christian McLaughlin, the creative minds behind many episodes of "The Golden Girls", "Gilmore Girls", "Roseanne" and "Married with Children", is coming to Playhouse 22 for performances across two weekends from January 16-25, 2026.

Vanguard Theater presents "Little Women". (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater presents Little Women across two weekends from January 16-25, 2026. Based on Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel, Little Women is a moving story of family, ambition, and finding your voice—brought to life through beautiful music and heartfelt performances by their dedicated pre-professional artists.

Two River Theater's A Little Shakespeare presents "As You Like It". (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater's signature arts education program, A Little Shakespeare, adapted and directed by Noelle Marion returns to the helm with As You Like It. Now in its 13th year, A Little Shakespeare engages young artists with the work of the Bard, in an abridged production directed and designed by theater professionals, and performed and supported backstage by high school students. This year's production runs from January 17-25, 2026.

The Road Company presents "Groundhog Day: The Musical". (WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ) -- The Road Company presents Groundhog Day: The Musical weekends from January 22 to February 7, 2026. Critically acclaimed on both the West End and Broadway, Groundhog Day revels in one man's journey of self-discovery, day after day.

Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia Premiere of "Good Bones". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company presents the Philadelphia premiere of Good Bones, the newest play by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright James Ijames (Fat Ham), about gentrification and the consequences of change in a neighborhood and in a family. Directed by Philadelphia-based award-winning actor Akeem Davis, the production begins performances January 22, opens January 28, and runs through March 8, 2026.

The Maplewood Strollers presents "Narnia, the Musical". (MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- Four children—siblings—stumble upon (and through) a wardrobe into the magical kingdom of Narnia. Relieve this magical story when The Maplewood Strollers presents Narnia, the Musical across two weekends (January 23 - February 1, 2026) at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts. The production is directed by Beth Seales-Hanson.

The Players Guild of Leonia presents "Blithe Spirit" by Noël Coward. (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward weekends from January 23 to February 8, 2026 in the Civil War Drill Hall. In Noël Coward’s sparkling classic, a well-intentioned séance conjures up far more than anyone expected.

Chatham Players presents "Any Night" by Daniel Arnold & Medina Han. (CHATHAM, NJ) -- Chatham Players presents Any Night by Daniel Arnold & Medina Han weekends from January 23 to February 1, 2026. The writers/performers of the international hit Tuesdays & Sundays are back with a contemporary Hitchcockian thriller.

Burlington County Footlighters presents "Calendar Girls". (CINNAMINSON, NJ) -- Burlington County Footlighters presents Calendar Girls by Tim Firth weekends from January 23 through February 7, 2026. It is based on the true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

Chatham Players Black Box Series presents "Any Night". (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players' Black Box Series presents Any Night by Daniel Arnold and Medina Han across two weekends from January 23 - February 1, 2026. It tells the story of Anna, a troubled dancer who is looking for a fresh start. Patrick is her helpful upstairs neighbor. As the pair falls for each other, Anna's sleepwalking and night terrors put them both in danger. Sleep is anything but peaceful in this gothic thriller that blurs dreams and reality.

Aspire Performing Arts Company presents "Spring Awakening". (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- Aspire Performing Arts Company, an award-winning performing arts company based in Wayne, will present the groundbreaking rock musical Spring Awakening from January 23-25, 2026 at the Fair Lawn Community Center.

North Star Theater Company to hold Audition Workshop for High School Students. (OGDENSBURG, NJ) -- North Star Theater Company will offer a one-day Audition Workshop designed to help high school students build confidence and sharpen their audition skills on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The event runs from 10:00am to 12:00pm at North Star Studio.

Main Street Theatre Company presents Disney's "High School Musical". (OLD BRIDGE, NJ) -- Main Street Theatre Company presents Disney's High School Musical across two weekends from January 24 to February 1, 2026. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.

Saturday, January 24 - Borgata Event Center presents comedian Andrew Santino. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Borgata Event Center presents comedian Andrew Santino on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 8:00pm. Santino stars in FX's most-watched comedy series, "Dave," alongside Lil' Dicky. He also appears in the SHOWTIME series "I'm Dying Up Here," which is executive-produced by Jim Carrey and directed by Jonathan Levine.

Saturday, January 24 - The Vogel presents comedian Aaron Chen. (RED BANK, NJ) -- The Vogel presents comedian Aaron Chen on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 7:00pm. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Aaron has quickly climbed the ranks of the international comedy scene.

Friday, January 23 - Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of "VESELKA: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World". (LOVELADIES, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society & Wally’s Restaurant of Surf City present a screening of VESELKA: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Science. This is an intimate and deeply moving award-winning documentary celebrating family, resilience and the enduring power of the Ukrainian community in the United States. The screening is a Fundraiser for Ukrainian nonprofit RAZOM.

Tuesday, January 20 - Hear Tales of Holocaust Survival at the Ocean County Library's Brick Branch. (BRICK, NJ) -- In commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, join speaker Amy Goodman as she shares her Grandpa Joseph's story of survival and resilience during the Holocaust. "Through My Grandfather's Eyes: A Personal Retelling of Holocaust Survival" will take place on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Brick Branch of the Ocean County Library. The event begins at 2:30pm.

Friday, January 23 - RVCC Holocaust Institute to Present Online Discussion with Author Julie Brill. (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will present an online discussion with author Julie Brill on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00am. The event is free of charge and open to the public, but registration is required.

Alfa Art Gallery presents "Reflections of the Living World". (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Alfa Art Gallery presents the Winter 2026 Photography Exhibition, Reflections of the Living World. Hunterdon Art Museum Winter Exhibitions Explore Music, New Jersey's 250th Anniversary, and Augmented Reality. (CLINTON, NJ) -- The Hunterdon Art Museum announces its latest exhibitions. "Paul Deery – Bach in Color: The Goldberg Variations," "Contemporary Artists Respond," a group exhibition and "Christine Romanell – Cosmic Crossing" an Augmented Reality experience. All three run from January 25 through April 26, 2026.
