“Jack Dallas is a National Treasure” – Bob Goetz / NYT
Deacon Jack Beddoe, known professionally as Jack Dallas (@JackDallasNYC on X), is a Northern New Jersey-based musical comedy bard, composer, and music minister at Centennial AME Zion Church in Closter.
An alumnus of Upsala College and Northern Valley Demarest, a former "on-the-road" musician, he is renowned for leading the NYC Music Marathon—a series of radio-style musical comedy performances featuring his original works like The HighWayMan, Miranda, Jen – X, and Uncle Bob. These productions blend folk opera, sci-fi romance, and historical tales (e.g., a Ben Franklin-inspired love story in 1756 - Making America), often performed in churches, cinemas, and theaters.
He also edited the folk opera Copper Kettle with family collaborator David Beddoe. As an exempt firefighter and lifelong EMT, Beddoe infuses his art with themes of faith, humor, and community.
