Written by Gordon Greenberg (Holiday Inn, Dracula!) and Steve Rosen (The Other Josh Cohen) and directed by Greenberg, it is based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and gives the holiday classic a Jersey twist.
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) presents It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, running December 3-28, 2025 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. American Theater Group presents "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG) presents Joe Landry's It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play running December 5-7, 2025 at the Sieminski Theater in Basking Ridge and December 12-21, 2025 at the DMK Black Box Theater in Union.
The Growing Stage presents "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage presents Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer weekends from December 5-21, 2025 at the Historic Palace Theatre. The holiday classic soars off the screen in this musical adaptation of the beloved television special.
Cameron Knight Leads the Cast as Ebenezer Scrooge in McCarter Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" (PRINCETON, NJ) -- A holiday tradition for 45 years, McCarter Theatre Center's annual production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol returns December 9–28, 2025. Adapted and directed by Lauren Keating, this year’s production offers a fresh perspective on the classic story of redemption and generosity. Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "Merry, Merry Mischief: Holiday Classics" (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) presents a seasonal scripts-in-hand presentation titled Merry, Merry Mischief: Holiday Classics, happening on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00am at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre. The presentation is the final piece in the Theatre's 2025 Classics for Kids! Series. Lead Teaching Artist Isaac Hickox-Young directs the festive collection of short stories including The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Rabbi's Gift, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle: A Sherlock Holmes Holiday Mystery, and A Visit from St. Nicholas.
Arden Theatre Company presents "The Mountaintop" by Katori Hall (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company presents The Mountaintop, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall, and directed by Barrymore Award-winning director Brett Ashley Robinson. Running October 30 through December 14, 2025 on the Arcadia Stage, the 90-minute reimagining of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s final night, invites audiences into a deeply intimate and human portrait of one of the most iconic leaders of the 20th century.
Quintessence Theatre presents "The Pirates of Penzance" (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Quintessence Theatre continues its 16th season with The Pirates of Penzance, the beloved comic opera by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, from November 19, 2025 to January 4, 2026. Directed by Quintessence Artistic Director Alex Burns, the resplendent and hilarious story follows a band of pirates who go to battle with the British bobbies over the hearts of a bevy of beautiful Cornish maidens, with only a Major- General and Queen Victoria to stand in their way.
Cape May Stage presents the World Premiere of "Let's Catch Santa" (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents the World Premiere of Let's Catch Santa from November 19 through December 28, 2025. This is a new holiday play by Dan McCormick that combines magic, humor, hope and the Christmas spirit. The production is directed by Roy Steinberg.
SoHo Playhouse presents the U.S. premiere of "What If They Ate The Baby?" (NEW YORK, NY) -- SoHo Playhouse presents the U.S. premiere of What If They Ate The Baby?, written, directed and performed by the playhouse's artists in residence, Xhloe Rice and Natasha Roland, running Off-Broadway November 19 - December 22, 2025 for 25 performances in a limited 5-week engagement.
Paper Mill Playhouse presents Disney's "Frozen" (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents Disney's Frozen from November 26 through Sunday, January 11, 2026. This musical transforms the magic of the beloved animated film to the stage in an enchanting adventure. When sisters Elsa and Anna are torn apart by a mysterious secret power, they each set out on their own journey of courage, self-acceptance, and discovery of love in all its forms.
Music Mountain Theatre presents "A Christmas Carol" (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents A Christmas Carol weekends from November 28 through December 14, 2025. This is a spectacular musical adaptation of Dickens' most well-known story.
Arden Children's Theatre presents "A Wrinkle In Time" (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- This winter, Arden Children's Theatre invites families to journey across time and space with an exciting adaptation of Madeline L'Engle's beloved book, A Wrinkle in Time. Adapted by John Glore, winner of the Newbery Medal, A Wrinkle in Time has inspired generations of readers, and even a major motion picture, since its publication. Now, the Arden brings this timeless classic to its stage for the first time. The production runs from December 3 through January 25, 2026.
Surflight Theatre presents "Elf, The Musical" (BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- The ever popular holiday production of Elf The Musical, back for the first time since 2018, opened at Surflight Theatre on November 29th and runs through December 21, 2025. Elf The Musical is based on a motion picture of the same name with a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. The book is adapted by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan from the 2003 film.
Cirque du Soleil presents "'Twas the Night Before..." at The Theater at MSG (NEW YORK, NY) -- Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG Entertainment) announced that, due to overwhelming success, the celebrated holiday theatrical 'Twas the Night Before... by Cirque du Soleil is returning to The Theater at Madison Square Garden for a limited engagement this holiday season from December 4-28, 2025.
Vanguard Theater Company presents "Into The Woods" (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater Company presents Into The Woods from December 4-21, 2025. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

From the zany minds of Bruce Curless and Brian Bacon comes another Christmas Musical Pantomime that is sure to have you laughing in the aisles!
Masquerade Theatre presents "Little Women" (RIVERSIDE, NJ) -- Masquerade Theatre presents Little Women weekends from December 5-20, 2025. Based on Louisa May Alcott's American classic, this Civil War story of love and family stands the test of time. Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Fiddler on the Roof" (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Fiddler on the Roof weekends from December 5-20, 2025. The award-winning tale of Tevye the Dairyman and his family’s struggles in a changing Russia is a true musical theatre tradition.

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents the World Premiere of "The Nice List" (BRISTOL, PA) -- Bristol Riverside Theatre (BRT) welcomes the holiday season with the world premiere of The Nice List, a lively musical filled with songs, humor, and plenty of Christmas cheer. This merry new production invites audiences of all ages to embark on a cheerful adventure straight from Santa's North Pole. Emmy Award-winning director Alan Muraoka leads this joyful production with music direction by Gary Adler. The production runs December 9-28, 2025.
Gerald Charles Dickens to Perform his One-Man "A Christmas Carol" to Benefit Allaire Village (RED BANK, NJ) -- Gerald Dickens, the great, great grandson of Charles Dickens, brings his one-man show - a theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol inspired by Charles' own energetic readings of the 1860s to benefit Allaire Village on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Two River Theater in Red Bank. Two shows are scheduled; 3:00pm and 7:00pm.
County College of Morris presents "A Sherlock Carol" (RANDOLPH, NJ) -- Get ready for a delightful holiday mystery as A Sherlock Carol takes the stage at County College of Morris (CCM), presented by the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts, and Music Technologies. Night Stories: 4 Tales of Reanimation by the Greatest Poet of the Holocaust - Avrom Sutzkever - Comes to Life Off- Broadway (NEW YORK, NY) -- Night Stories, comprising four tales of reanimation by Yiddish poet and resistance fighter Avrom Sutzkever, will be presented Off-Broadway direct from a South American tour through São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Night Stories makes its official Off-Broadway bow at Wild Project, 195 E. 3rd Street (between Aves. A & B), with performances from December 17, 2025 through January 11, 2026.
