George Street Playhouse presents "King James"  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse presents King James from March 18 through April 7, 2025. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist playwright Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), the production is directed by Ryan George (GSP's The Club). Axelrod Performing Arts Center presents "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"  (DEAL PARK, NJ) -- The Axelrod Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the full casting for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, the first show of its 2025 season. Beautiful begins performances on March 14 and runs through April 6, 2025.

Growing Stage presents the World Premiere of "Her Beautiful Sound"  (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey is thrilled to present the world premiere of Her Beautiful Sound by Cris Eli Blak weekends from March 28 - April 6, 2025. This is the 2024 winner of their New Play-Reading Festival and tells the story about a family of three women who hold each other up, see each other, and remind each other of the power within their spirits.

Crossroads Theatre Company presents The Genesis Festival of New Plays This Week  (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Crossroads Theatre Company presents The Genesis Festival of New Plays from April 2-7, 2025 at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. This year's line up includes: Pearls by Silma Sierra Berrada; in shame & in pride: a biomythography by Jamie Goodwin; The Carelessness of Love by Michael Dinwiddie; and hop tha A by James Anthony Tyler.

Vivid Stage presents "In The Mix" - An Evening of World Premiere Plays all written in the last 3 months  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at the Oakes Center, will present In the Mix, an evening of new short plays that tell the stories of our times, from April 3-13, 2025. This captivating evening of world premiere short plays blends comedy and drama to bring to life the topics that everyone's talking about. Ayhan Hulagu to Bring Traditional Turkish Theater to Princeton University  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- 700-year-old traditional Turkish Theatre in America. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, Turkish shadow theater will be showcased at Princeton University. Actor and playwright Ayhan Hulagu adapts the 700-year-old Karagöz tradition in The Forest of the Witch for American audiences.

Lewis Center for the Arts’ Program in Theater & Music Theater presents "Macbeth in Stride" by Whitney White  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Lewis Center for the Arts' Program in Theater and Music Theater at Princeton University presents Macbeth in Stride, a musical by Obie Award-winning theater artist Whitney White that employs rock, pop, gospel, and R&B to investigate some of the most familiar narratives of Shakespeare's "Scottish play." The production is directed by Princeton senior Layla Williams. Performances are April 4-5, April 10-12, 2025 at the Berlind Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center (91 University Place) in Princeton. Showtime is 8:00pm each night.

 

Kean Theatre Conservatory presents "They Promised Her the Moon"  (UNION, NJ) -- Kean Theatre Conservatory presents They Promised Her the Moon from April 4-12, 2025. The play by Laurel Ollstein takes place in 1961 when the first American woman to test for space flight stepped into an isolation tank for a record-breaking nine hours, outlasting all of the men in NASA's emerging Mercury 7 program.

STOMP returns to MPAC in April  (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- STOMP, the international percussion sensation, returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for three performances only, Saturday-Sunday, April 5-6, 2025. From its beginnings as a street performance in the UK, STOMP has grown into an international sensation over the past 29 years, having performed in more than 50 countries and in front of more than 26 million people.

"The Jonathan Larson Project" to Have World Premiere in NYC  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Richard Frankel, Tom Viertel, Steven Baruch, and Marc Routh proudly announce the world premiere of The Jonathan Larson Project, a new musical that celebrates the dozens of unheard songs, unfinished and unproduced musicals, and pop songs found in files and boxes when the visionary writer of RENT died suddenly at the age of 35 in 1996. Conceived by Jennifer Ashley Tepper and directed by John Simpkins, The Jonathan Larson Project features more than 20 undiscovered songs by the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning writer.

SoHo Playhouse presents the World Premiere of "Gloaming, Nowhere"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- SoHo Playhouse presents the world premiere of Gloaming, Nowhere, created and performed by J.S. Streible, with original songs by Streible, running March 12 – April 5, 2025 in a limited engagement for 23 performances in the theater's intimate Huron Room. Gloaming, Nowhere is the world's first Neo-Appalachian, Afrolachian, Southern Pop Revusical.

Bergen County Players presents "Things My Mother Taught Me"  (ORADELL, NJ) -- Love, laughter, and a few moving boxes set the stage for Things My Mother Taught Me, a charming, engaging comedy by Katherine DiSavino, presented by Bergen County Players, one of America's longest-running little theater companies. The show opens on Saturday, March 15, and runs through Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell.

Tickets Now on Sale for United Solo's Spring 2025 Festival  (NEW YORK, NY) -- United Solo's Spring 2025 Festival brings a lineup of dynamic performances from around the world to Theatre Row, running from March 18 through April 20.

Players Guild of Leonia presents "The Normal Heart"  (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia presents The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer weekends from March 21 through April 6, 2025. Larry Kramer's largely autobiographical play depicts the rise of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City from 1981–1984. The production is directed by Claudia MacDermott.

Playhouse 22 presents "Perfect Arrangement" by Topher Payne  (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Perfect Arrangement by Topher Payne is presented by Playhouse 22 weekends from March 21 – April 6, 2025. This is a poignant comedy for our times focuses on the relationships between two couples and the complicated nature of their jobs.

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents "In The Heights" by Lin-Manuel Miranda  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- The electrifying rhythms of Washington Heights pulse through Bristol Riverside Theatre (BRT) as Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical, a genre-bending blend of hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and soul, In the Heights, takes the stage March 25 through April 27, 2025. BRT's production is directed by the visionary Carlos Armesto, returning to BRT following his sensory-driven production Odd Man Out in 2023. This season, Armesto brings the beloved hit musical set on the vibrant streets of New York to the stage. BRT co-producers Amy and Ken Kaissar present the first large-scale production since the newly renovated space reopened.

Middlesex College presents "Rough Magic" by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa  (EDISON, NJ) -- Middlesex College Visual, Performing and Media Arts presents Rough Magic by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa across two weekends from March 27 to April 4, 2025. Transplanting characters from The Tempest to present-day New York, Rough Magic is a Shakespearean action-adventure-fantasy in the tradition of Harry Potter and The X-Men.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Ride the Cyclone"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Ride the Cyclone weekends from March 28 to April 13, 2025. In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster.

Gateway Playhouse to hold auditions for "South Pacific"  (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point will hold auditions for its first musical of 2025, South Pacific, by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Artistic Director Phil Pallitto welcomes all to try out, as he looks to fill the musical with an exciting diverse cast. Auditions will take place March 29 and April 2, at the Gateway.

Trilogy Repertory Theater presents "Anything Goes"  (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- Trilogy Repertory Theater presents Anything Goes from March 29-April 6, 2025 at The Sieminski Theater. A toe-tapping musical classic with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, this voyage of the S.S. American between New York and England is filled with a madcap group of passengers, witty repartee, filled with singing and dancing.

Centenary Stage Company presents the World Premiere of "Wasabia" by Wendy Herlich  (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents the World Premiere of Wasabia by Wendy Herlich from April 3-13, 2025. It details the story of Vivian and Carla. When fiercely independent Vivian gets a knock on her door from Carla, a young hospice volunteer desperate to shine, the two strike up an unlikely and unforgettable friendship.

Gateway Playhouse presents "The Man Who Came to Dinner"  (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point will kick off its 2025 Mainstage Season with the George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart comedy classic The Man Who Came to Dinner. The play will run one weekend only, April 4-6, 2025.

Brookdale Performing Arts Center presents "Godspell"  (LINCROFT, NJ) -- The Brookdale Performing Arts Center presents Godspell, directed by John Bukovec, across three weekends from April 4-19, 2025. This high-energy, uplifting musical promises to captivate audiences with a modern-day celebration of love, community, and joy. Godspell brings the teachings of Jesus to life in a contemporary urban setting through a vibrant blend of music, dance, and storytelling.

Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents 2025 New Jersey One Act Play Festival  (PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents the 2025 New Jersey One Act Play Festival, featuring an exciting lineup of original works by New Jersey playwrights. The festival will take place April 4-6, 2025, at the duCret Center of Art.

Thrills, Laughs, and Betrayal Come Together in "Deathtrap" at the Kelsey Theatre  (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- A washed-up Broadway playwright has a plan to revive his career: a plan that involves theft, betrayal, and murder—along with loads of laughs—in the dark comedy-thriller "Deathtrap," presented by Maurer Productions OnStage at the Kelsey Theatre, April 4-13, 2025 on Mercer County Community College's West Windsor Campus.

Two River Theater presents "¡VOS!"  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater's season continues with ¡VOS!, a World Premiere debut by the powerful new voice, Christina Pumariega (Joan Dark), directed by Nicole A. Watson (Jocelyn Bioh's School Girls, Artistic Director of Playwrights Center in Minneapolis) is an exhilarating quest for justice, family and home. Performances will run in the Marion Huber Theater April 5-27, 2025.

Put on your detective hat and join Holmes & Watson in Cape May for 'Sherlock Holmes and the Familiar Face'  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Join Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's master sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, and his loyal friend Dr. John Watson, as you follow the clues in an original mystery, "Sherlock Holmes and the Familiar Face," by Jacklyn Fazio, presented by Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture).

Art House Productions & Skyline Arts' Teen Broadway Company present "Pippin"  (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions & Skyline Arts present Pippin April 5-6, 2025. With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary.

Pushcart Players Artistic Director to Perform in "Project Comeback" with The Company Theatre Group  (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Company Theatre Group, a beloved regional theater company, is thrilled to announce a special fundraising event: "PROJECT COMEBACK: THE MONTCLAIR TOUR," featuring 4 nights of hilarious one-act plays (April 5-6 and April 12-13, 2025). Paul Whelihan, Producing Artistic Director of Pushcart Players (now in their 50th Season) will star alongside other professional New Jersey theatre actors in this latest work for The Company.

"The Wind in the Willows" to be Performed at RVCC  (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present The Wind in the Willows by Ken Grahame, April 9-11, 2025. The production, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be staged in the Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg campus. Showtime is 7:00pm each night.

Eagle Theatre presents "Ordinary Days"  (HAMMONTON, NJ) -- From one of musical theatre's most exciting new composers comes Ordinary Days, a refreshingly honest and funny musical about making real connections in the city that never sleeps (but probably should at some point). Eagle Theatre presents a limited run of Ordinary Days from April 11-13, 2025.

Bordentown Thespians presents "Charlotte's Web"  (BORDENTOWN, NJ) -- Charlotte's Web, the play for children based on the classic book by E. B. White, will be presented at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 11th at 6:30pm and Saturday, April 12th at 2:00pm. This adaptation by Joseph Robinette tells the classic tale of friendship between a young pig and a caring, intelligent spider.

How Jersey Are You? Find Out when "The Devil and Daisy Dirt" comes to Ocean County Library  (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Bruce and Bon Jovi. Lucy the Elephant and Hurricane Harbor. The Parkway and the Turnpike. You are Jersey all the way. However, have you seen the tallest Jersey Devil tale ever? The Ocean County Library Toms River Branch presents The Devil and Daisy Dirt: A Garden State Gothic, Alt-Folk Event on Monday, April 14, 2025. The event begins at 7:00pm.

American Theater Group's Monday Night Play Reading Series presents "King of the Hollywood Fixers" by Douglas J. Cohen  (RAHWAY, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG), in partnership with the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC), will present the premiere reading of King of the Hollywood Fixers by Douglas J. Cohen as part of its free Monday Night Play Reading Series on April 14, 2025 at Hamilton Stage in Rahway. The cast will feature Briga Heelan, who most recently played Cinderella on Broadway in Once Upon a One More Time and is known for TV's Cougar Town and Ground Floor, and Robert Sella, whose many Broadway credits include Flying Over Sunset, Sideman and Cabaret. Showtime is 7:00pm.

The United Solo Festival to present NY premiere of "Mother's Day" by Susan Chase  (NEW YORK, NY) -- The United Solo Festival will host the New York premiere of Susan Chase's solo play Mother’s Day on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 7:00pm - just before she begins a tour of Pennsylvania and New England, to conclude on Mother's Day, 2025 for an audience of mothers and their children in Mystic, CT. The 90-minute theatrical tour-de-force uses spoken word, music, dance, and film to celebrate the women who made us.

NJ Rep presents "Comfort" by Neil LaBute  (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) continues its 28th season with Neil LaBute's Comfort, directed by Evan Bergman. The production runs from April 17 to May 11, 2025, with opening on April 19, 2025, at NJ Rep's intimate theater in Long Branch. The new play follows the complicated, love-hate relationship between a mother and son as they barrel towards the unknown, battling over ownership of a treasured manuscript.

NJPAC to Celebrate Governor Kean's 90th Birthday with Broadway-Themed Bash  (NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will celebrate the birthday of New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean with a dinner and evening of musical theater on his 90th birthday, April 21, 2025. The event begins at 5:30pm.

Gas Lamp Junior presents Disney's "Descendants: The Musical" this weekend

(GLEN RIDGE, NJ) -- Gas Lamp Junior presents Disney's Descendants: The Musical from July 17-18, 2026 at the Ridgewood Avenue School with a different cast each night. Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, this is a musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

These two conversations will be about Espionage: Fiction and Reality with a Princeton fellow who held a 36 year long career with the Central Intelligence Agency and The Icon of the 1930s Dame + Hitchcock, with a Princeton University English professor.
