Music Mountain Theatre Hosts First Meet and Greet
 

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- On Thursday, August 24, Music Mountain Theatre (MMT) hosted their first-ever invited dress rehearsal, where donors who had contributed at the current level of Benefactor or higher were welcomed for an intimate cocktail reception and meet and greet with the cast, crew, and creative team before getting to sit in on the final dress rehearsal of All Shook Up before opening night.

 



"Rock & Roll Man" Final Show is Sept. 1
 

If you are looking for a good show to see to finish your summer viewing, consider going to New World Stages for Rock & Roll Man. This musical journey tells the story of the beginnings of rock and roll. It focuses on the legendary DJ Alan Freed. Freed brought the music of black artists to the mainstream at a time when segregation was in full swing in the U.S. He is also credited with popularizing the term Rock and Roll to the emerging genre.

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre is currently presenting the hilarious musical comedy, Disaster! from August 22 - September 3, 2023. The play takes place in 1979, and New York's hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. NJPAC presents Anthony Hamilton
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum soul storyteller Anthony Hamilton will be performing at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 8:00pm. Hamilton has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and been proclaimed a "national treasure" by the Los Angeles Times.

 



Prudential Center presents The 1975
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The 1975 will perform at the Prudential Center in Newark on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 as part of their 'Still ... at their very best' tour. It's their biggest North American tour to date. Showtime is 7:30pm.

 



Starland Ballroom presents The Darkness, Celebrating 20th Anniversary of "Permission to Land"
 

(SAYREVILLE, NJ) -- This year finds Britain's beloved rock band The Darkness celebrating two decades since they released Permission To Land, the multi-platinum, chart-topping debut album. To celebrate, the band is releasing a special 20th anniversary collection called Permission To Land...Again, due out October 6th on Warner Music and they will be embarking on the global Permission To Land 20 tour. (HIGHTSTOWN, NJ) -- On Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 8:00pm, The Resurrection of Screamin' 'Jay Hawkins Band will be in Hightstown, NJ performing at Randy Now's Man Cave. The band will bring to town some legendary musicians. Mike Armando who was Screamin' Jay Hawkins guitarist (I Put A Spell On You) along with Arno Hecht the founder of the legendary NYC band Uptown Horns.

 



New Jersey Symphony Announces Concert Weekend Consolidation and Workforce Reduction
 

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony announced that it has made the difficult decision to consolidate its concert program weekends for the upcoming 2023–24 season, which begins this October and continues through June, as part of an overall budget reduction plan. The Symphony has also made the painful decision to undergo a workforce reduction of its administrative staff by 15.4%, through a combination of layoffs and the elimination of open positions. Additionally, retained administrative employees will be required to take furloughs and senior leadership will take salary reductions. The musicians of the orchestra, who recently signed a collective bargaining agreement, will not see changes in compensation or benefits that were previously negotiated.

Princeton Symphony Orchestra's 2023-2024 Season Opens with Snider's Forward Into Light and Saxophonist Steven Banks
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Symphony Orchestra's 2023-2024 Season opens September 9-10, 2023 with Princeton-based composer Sarah Kirkland Snider's inspirational work Forward Into Light, inspired by women suffragists, and Henri Tomasi's expressive Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, performed by 2022 Avery Fisher Career Grant winner Steven Banks. William Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony, one of the first full-length works by a Black composer to be performed by a major US orchestra, completes the program.

Riverside Gallery presents "Amalgamation of Voices"
 

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- Riverside Gallery presents a group exhibition titled, "Amalgamation of Voices" which runs from September 2-23, 2023. The exhibition will feature works involving a diverse range of media by several eclectic group of artists: Diana Soorikian (contemporary figuration), Paula Schiller (contemporary abstraction), Ruth Bauer Neustadter (abstract painting and assemblage/collage), and Rich Keller (photography of cityscapes and landmarks). There will be an opening reception on Saturday, September 2nd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
