Thursday, April 27, 2023 - Gemma New returns to the New Jersey Symphony to conduct Symphonie fantastique. (NEWARK, NJ) -- This April 27-30, Gemma New reunites with the New Jersey Symphony to conduct Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini featuring internationally-renowned pianist George Li, and Sarah Gibson's warp & weft. Known for her dynamic and engaging performances, New served as both the Assistant Conductor from 2009 to 2013 and then as the Associate Conductor from 2013 to 2016 for the Symphony and was recently appointed Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.



Friday, April 28, 2023 - Prudential Center Hosts WDHA's Rock the Rock Fest In April. (NEWARK, NJ) -- WDHA's Rock the Rock Fest returns to the Rock on Friday, April 28th, 2023. This year’s headliner is one of New Jersey's favorite bands, legendary rockers Breaking Benjamin who have chosen Rock the Rock Fest as one of only a select few major events in 2023. Joining them on the mainstage will be rockers Falling in Reverse and The Pretty Reckless plus Beartooth, Dorothy, and special VIP appearance by Crobot. 



Friday, April 28, 2023 - African American Museum to Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month and History of African American Music in NJ April 28-29. (SKILLMAN, NJ) -- The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) will celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month and the history of African American music in New Jersey with "Jazz in the Sourlands," a series of special events on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29.



Friday, April 28, 2023 - French Canadian Trio É.T.É. Brings High-Energy Music to the Folk Project in Morristown on April 28th. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- A whirlwind of French-Canadian music comes to the Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series on Friday, April 28 with the award-winning, young Québécois trio, É.T.É. The band combines the region's energetic traditional music with the virtuosity of classical and jazz. The show begins at 7:30pm at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship. Multi-instrumentalist Russ Rentler will open.



Friday, April 28, 2023 - The HillBenders to Present "WhoGrass" at Grunin Center on April 28th. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Award-winning bluegrass meets classic rock in one unique, unforgettable show when The HillBenders present "WhoGrass" on Friday, April 28 at The Grunin Center for the Arts. "WhoGrass" is a chronological journey of The Who's legendary catalog through the wood and wire of bluegrass instrumentation. Tickets are $35. Showtime is 8:00pm.

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Emmy and Tony Award-winning performer Kristin Chenoweth returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center to celebrate music from beloved female artists such as Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Judy Garland and more on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 8:00pm. Saturday, April 29, 2023 - RVCC Sets Faculty Concert Featuring Dr. Anna Keiserman on Piano, Dr. Will Berman, Baritone, and Guest Artist Lauren Frey, Soprano. (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present a faculty concert with Dr. Will Berman (baritone) and Dr. Anna Keiserman (piano), and featuring guest soprano Lauren Frey, Saturday, April 29 at 2:00pm. Saturday, April 29, 2023 - Transparent Clinch Gallery presents the Marc Muller Trio on April 29th. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- On Saturday, April 29th at 4:00, the Marc Muller Trio with world class musicians Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan) and John Kimock (Oteil and Friends) will perform in the intimate setting of The Transparent Clinch Gallery. The trio will lead the listener on a sonic journey through a vast landscape of rootsy Americana instrumental music, drawing from influences ranging from The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Little Feat to Miles Davis. Attendees will hear high-energy funky country romps, delicate harmonically rich ballads, and soaring improvisations that create a unique blend of music, perhaps best described as Southern-Fried Hippie Jazz.



Saturday, April 29, 2023 - New Jersey Folk Festival Bridges Tradition and Innovation. As we stroll through our neighborhoods at dinner time and the aromas of garlic, cumin, fenugreek, chilies, cabbages and tomatoes waft through the air, we are reminded that one in five people in the state is from somewhere else. Each community that settles in New Jersey brings with it a wealth of folkways. The New Jersey Folk Festival has been celebrating this for nearly half a century.



Saturday, April 29, 2023 - Plainfield Symphony To Close Out 103rd Season With "Tchaikovsky Festival". (PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- The Plainfield Symphony will close out their 103rd season on Saturday, April 29 at 7:00pm with "Tchaikovsky Festival" under the baton of Maestro Charles Prince. Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky is one of the most famous Russian composers; the first with an enduring international reputation. He is particularly well-known for his ballets, piano concertos, and five symphonies. The Plainfield Symphony will be performing two of his orchestral gems. The concert takes place at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church.



Saturday, April 29, 2023 - Spring Lake Theatre Company presents "Something Wonderful" on April 29th. (SPRING LAKE, NJ) -- A year of celebration continues at the Spring Lake Community House! The wonderful events to celebrate this extraordinary milestone continue with the second installment in the Something Wonderful concert series. Something Wonderful is a benefit concert set for Saturday, April 29th, 2023. Before and after the concert, the audience can enjoy a lavish cocktail reception and mingle with the performers. (NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents The Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo on their Renaissance Tour stopping in Newark, On Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 7:00pm. In the past three decades, the Gipsy Kings have dominated the World Music charts and sold more than 14 million albums worldwide. Their platinum compilation, The Best of the Gipsy Kings, was charting for over a year upon its release and their ninth studio album, Savor Flamenco, was awarded the Grammy for Best World Music Album.

Sunday, April 30, 2023 - RVCC Chorale to Present Spring Concert. (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The RVCC Chorale will present its spring concert, "Seas of Love," on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3:00pm. The event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College's Branchburg campus. The program will feature the music of Mozart, Brahms, Josquin Des Prez, and Elton John.



Sunday, April 30, 2023 - New Jersey Youth Symphony Pushes Cultural Boundaries with Music and Dance on April 30. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) --The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) presents Bringing It All Together: Music, Dance & Story Beyond Cultural Boundaries on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 7:00pm at The Nicholas Music Center at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. The NJYS Youth Symphony, led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Helen H. Cha-Pyo, will perform George Walker's Icarus in Orbit for Orchestra, commissioned by the New Jersey Youth Orchestra in 2004; Margaret Bonds' The Montgomery Variations (1964) based on the African American spiritual "I Want Jesus to Walk with Me" and dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr.; and Jennifer Higdon's blue cathedral. The 2023 Concerto Competition Winner, Nina Park, will perform Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major for Piano and Orchestra, S.125, and the symphony will be joined by dancers Marianna Allen, Anne Tantuico, and Elena Yasin with choreography by Paul Ocampo.



Sunday, April 30, 2023 - Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital Series presents "Happy Birthday, Rachmaninoff!" on April 30. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- On April 30, Westminster Conservatory will present "Happy Birthday, Rachmaninoff!" as part of its Faculty Recital Series. The performance will feature two members of the string department faculty, Dr. Dennis Krasnokutsky, viola, and Christine Mello, cello, and guest artist Dr. Maja Rajković, piano. The recital will take place at 7:30pm in Bristol Chapel (101 Walnut Lane) in Princeton. Admission is free; masking is optional.



Monday, May 1, 2023 - Acclaimed Saxophonist Steve Wilson Has Free Shows in NYC and Newark to Start off May. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Acclaimed jazz saxophonist Steve Wilson begins Spring 2023 with an array of scheduled performances and activities showcasing his versatility, sense of community and collaborative spirit. One performance will take place May 6th at Jazz Vespers at Bethany Baptist Church in Newark.
