You may know the name Curtis Salgado as the man often called “The Original Blues Brother.” And there’s a fascinating reason for that. When John Belushi encountered Salgado and his music in Oregon, the two became friends—and Salgado’s style, stage presence and love of the blues helped inspire what would become The Blues Brothers. The group’s first album, Briefcase Full of Blues, was even dedicated to Curtis.
