Stephen King 35mm Double Feature: Carrie and Pet Sematary

Friday, October 30, 2026 @ 7:00pm

Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC) - Main Stage
1601 Irving Street, Rahway, NJ 07065

Join us in October for a terrifyingly great Stephen King 35mm double feature: “Carrie” and “Pet Sematary.” Come early to shop our vendors, grab cocktails and snacks, and enjoy a spooky organ concert played on our “Biggest Little Wurlitzer.”

Based on King’s debut novel, “Carrie” is a 1976 psychological horror film directed by Brian De Palma starring Sissy Spacek stars as Carrie White, a painfully shy and sheltered teenager relentlessly bullied by her classmates at school. At home, she endures abuse at home from her mother Margaret, a religious fanatic played by Piper Laurie.

When Carrie discovers her telekinetic powers, she finds new confidence and slowly begins to come out of her shell. But when her classmates cruelly prank her at prom, her heartbreak erupts into a terrifying act of revenge in one of the most devastating and iconic scenes in movie history.

Spacek and Laurie both earned Academy Award nominations for their performances, and “Carrie” remains one of the most influential films in the horror genre.

1989’s “Pet Sematary” is a chilling tale of grief, obsession, and the horrifying consequences of defying death.

After moving to a quiet rural town with his wife, kids, and pet cat Church, Dr. Louis Creed discovers a mysterious pet “sematary” with the power to bring the dead back to life.

When Church is hit by a car and killed, Louis brings him to the burial ground to be reanimated, hoping to spare his daughter the heartache of losing her beloved pet. This sets off a chain of horrifying events that violently teach Louis that “sometimes, dead is better.”

Don’t miss the event of the (spooky) season—get your tickets today! Both films are rated R. This 35mm Stephen King Double Feature of “Carrie” and “Pet Sematary” is part of the I. Joseph Hyatt Classic Film Series.
