Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC)

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED

Spend a nostalgic evening saluting three of the world’s most beloved musical groups that were instrumental in creating the early R&B/Rock & Roll sound.

Multi Platinum, Rock and Roll, Vocal Group and Grammy Halls of Fame member, THE PLATTERS® are considered the most romantic of all the early rock and roll groups. Hit after hit came tumbling forth in a seemingly effortless manner: “Only You”, “The Great Pretender”, “My Prayer”, “Twilight Time”, “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”, “Harbor Lights”, all of them establishing The Platters as the classiest of all the early rock and roll groups.

THE COASTERS® have the distinction of becoming the first vocal group to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987. The group formed by founding member Carl Gardner continues to perform their legendary hits – “Poison Ivy,” “Yakety Yak,” “Love Potion Number Nine,” “Searchin’,” as well as “Young Blood” and “Charlie Brown.”

THE CLASSIC DRIFTERS honor the legendary music of The Drifters with a great reminder that love songs transcend all ages with hits from “Save the Last Dance for Me,” and “Up on the Roof,” plus the timeless “Stand by Me.” The beautiful “There Goes My Baby” enchants but it’s the classic “Under the Boardwalk” that is the most played R&B disc of all time.
