This week's Top 10 includes articles involving 6 counties in New Jersey (Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean). We were glad to see an article from one of our favorite stories series (a look at our favorite 25 articles in each genre from our history to celebrate publishing our 25,000th story) make the list!



Russian Ballet Theatre Brings "Swan Lake" to Newark, Trenton, and Sewell in February

Russian Ballet Theatre is bringing a breathtaking new production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake to 52 cities across the United States, including four local stops in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Ballet fans will have the unique opportunity to enjoy this update on a classic, with dates set for Sunday, February 13th in Newark at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC); Tuesday, February 15th in Trenton at the Patriots Theatre at the War Memorial; Wednesday, February 16th in Sewell, South Jersey at Investors Bank Performing Arts Center; and Thursday, February 17th in Reading at the Santander Performing Arts Center.



NJCU presents The Poetry of Memory A Conversation with Maria Mazziotti Gillan

Deadline To Apply For Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop Is February 11th

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop returns this spring from February 12 through June 5, and the deadline to apply is February 11. This is a 15-week theatre training program that will conclude with a weekend of shows performed by the students. All applicants must complete an interview with the director of the program, Michael Blevins, before registering. The price for the first student is $425.00, a second student is $395.00, and a third student is $300.00. 








Riverside Gallery presents "Movement Recovery" by Tai Woong Kang

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- Painter and Professor Tai Woong Kang’s solo art exhibition Movement Recovery is on view at the Riverside Gallery in Hackensack from January 29th to February 12th. The exhibition consists of abstract paintings that explore the original state of humanity as harmony with nature and the cosmos, thereby exposing the fallacies of fast-paced modernity. 



Experimental Animation Mise En Abyme plays at the Spring 2022 New Jersey Film Festival on January 28!

Mise En Abyme is a short experimental animation film by Charly Santagado that will be playing at the New Jersey Film Festival on Friday, January 28, 2022. The entire film is set in one room where two women interact with each other in a very specific way. One of the women is an artist that appears to be using the other as her muse, [although we cannot be entirely sure of that dynamic] while the other woman [the muse] is only visible to the audience by way of reflection; there is a mirror placed next to the artist that acts as a window into what the woman across from her is doing.



“Dreaming Zenzile,” Based On the Life of Legendary South African Singer Miriam Makeba, Premiers at McCarter

The McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton is presenting the world premiere musical Dreaming Zenzile, based on the life of legendary South African singer Zenzile Miriam Makeba. Running now until February 13, 2022, Dreaming Zenzile is a unique musical and electrifying portrait of the revolutionary artist nicknamed “Mama Africa,” who managed to marry her art with her activism. Makeba was banned from her own country for more than 30 years under apartheid.



Hopewell Theater Hosts Valentine's Weekend Show with James Maddock

(HOPEWELL, NJ) -- Hopewell Theater is heating up one night only this winter for a Valentine's Day Weekend pop-up show. On Saturday, February 12 at 8:00pm, James Maddock will play songs from his prodigious solo catalog and beyond. Maddock creates a musical stew of folk/rock and Americana with an ample dose of singer/songwriter voodoo thrown in for good measure.

MPAC Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup for 2026

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center's Arts in the Community free summer concert schedule for 2026 has been announced. MPAC will present six free concerts between June and August. The lineup includes the return of three of their most popular events – Bollywood Dance Party, Country Line Dancing and Salsa at Sunset, as well as singer-songwriters, and more.

Classic American Tales' presents Tales at the Dormer House every Thursday

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 4 through October 15, 2026 (except for July 2), Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents Tales at the Dormer House in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories written by noteworthy authors, read by a variety of performers. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May, NJ. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting.

2026-27 Season Preview: Split Level Concerts at Jersey Shore Arts Center

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- Split Level Concerts at the Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) in Ocean Grove has announced the full concert lineup for its third season. All shows will take place beginning at 8:00pm in JSAC's Palaia Theater. The season lineup includes Willie Nile, John Gorka, Dan Bern, Catie Curtis and Band, Stephen Kellogg, Abbie Gardner, Heather Maloney and Band, and Kim Richey. As they have done in prior years, artists from the Asbury Park music scene will open many of the shows.
