Basie Center Offers Events For Hispanic Heritage Month

(RED BANK, NJ) --  The Count Basie Center for the Arts has announced a set of events scheduled in commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15).



Newark Porchfest Scheduled for Saturday

(NEWARK, NJ) -- On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Newark Porchfest takes place in the Forest Hill Historic District of Newark. This is a free, family-friendly celebration of the arts with music of all genres, art, dance, food, and activities for children. The rain date is Sunday, September 25.



Bordentown Regional High School Presents "Puffs"

(BORDENTOWN, NJ) -- The comedic play Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic by Matt Cox will be presented on October 21st and 22nd at the Bordentown Performing Arts Center. This production will be performed by the award-winning theatre students of Bordentown Regional High School.  Tickets will also be sold at the door. Showtime is 7:30pm.



Charlie Puth to Perform Homecoming Show at Count Basie Center for the Arts

(RED BANK, NJ) -- GRAMMY-nominated and multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer Charlie Puth has announced the ‘One Night Only’ tour, produced by Live Nation. Offering 8 dates across North America and Canada this fall, the run of intimate underplay shows will kick off with a homecoming show in Red Bank, New Jersey on October 23 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts, before making his way North to Massey Hall in Toronto on October 27 and finally, The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on November 9.








ACC Gallery presents "New York Rhapsody in the Box"

(TENAFLY, NJ) -- ACC Gallery presents "New York Rhapsody in the Box" - a Hobong Kim solo exhibition - from September 23 to October 9, 2022.  He has been dealing with his experiences in New York life, working with digital printing and charcoal drawings on abandoned carbon boxes for this show.

(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presented School Girls; or, the African Mean Girls Play at duCret School of the Arts in Plainfield from September 16-18. Beauty, ambition, and fierce humor combine in this comedy by Jocelyn Bioh loosely based on the movie Mean Girls. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.



Centenary Stage Announces Open-Call Auditions for Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company will be holding an open-call audition for their upcoming 2022 Holiday Spectacular Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Auditions will be held on September 30 from 3:00pm-7:00pm and on October 1 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling the Centenary Stage Company box office at (908) 979-0900. Walk-ins will be seen as time permits.



The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation Receives NJ Department of Environment Protection's Coastal Flooding Arts Grant. Call for Artists Announced

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) has announced the award of a New Jersey Department of the Environment Community-Based Arts grant of $22,000.  The NNJCF, a not-for-profit organization based in Hackensack, was one of only five organizations in the Garden State selected to receive the award that will pair artists specializing in environmental topics to create art installations in specific sites in the state's coastal zone. 



Kelsey Theatre Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Season With "Once"

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- “Once,” winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will kick off Kelsey Theatre’s 2022-2023 season. The romantic musical drama runs weekends from September 23 through October 2.

NJPAC presents a Spring Season of Jazz

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents a Spring Season of Jazz with free monthly jazz jams at Clement's Place and two special concert events inside the Victoria Theater. PBS' Independent Lens Launches 20th Season of Free Pop-Up Screening Series in Teaneck and Nationwide

(TEANECK, NJ) -- The award-winning PBS documentary series, INDEPENDENT LENS, presents the launch of the upcoming season of Indie Lens Pop-Up in partnership with the Teaneck International Film Festival and the Puffin Cultural Forum. The season kicks-off on February 4, 2026 with The Librarians and continues through May. The series is free for all but sign up is required.

State Theatre New Jersey presents The Sound Studio Series 2026

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey proudly presents The Sound Studio Series, an immersive musical experience that places concertgoers at the very heart of the performance. Megan Thee Stallion to make her Broadway debut in "Moulin Rouge! The Musical"

Taking the stage for a strictly limited 8-week engagement, Megan will light up the Al Hirshfeld Theatre from Tuesday, March 24th to Sunday, May 17, 2026, promising an unmissable, moment in the show's legendary run.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents "1776"

(MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents 1776, the Tony Award-winning musical, from April 1 through May 2, 2026. It brings the story behind the creation of the Declaration of Independence to the stage with witty satire, compelling drama, and a thrilling score. With music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, 1776 follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and their fellow delegates as they navigate fiery debates, political tensions, and personal conflicts in their struggle to unite thirteen colonies.

"She's Like the Wind"

The first thing you'll see upon entering the gallery at Deep Space (77 Cornelison St.) is the shadow-outline of a woman's leg. There it is, on a chartreuse background, sticking straight up in the air with a curvaceous bare foot inches from the ceiling. That's all of the subject of "Lemon Lime Toe of God" that the oil painter Delilah Ray Miske is willing to show us. The rest of the body, she implies, is splayed out on a bed. We know it's summer because the window is closed and the air conditioner is plugged in. There's a pretty good chance that the possessor of the leg is undressed. In one hand, she holds a cellphone, and she might be broadcasting something. On the wall, a small whip-like broomstick hangs. It could be the ride of a tiny witch. It could be the professional tool of a dominatrix.
