Broadway's Jasmine Forsberg and Benji Santiago star in McCarter Theatre’s World Premiere of "I & You: The Musical"  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center announced that Jasmine Forsberg and Benji Santiago will play the leads in its season opener, the world premiere of I & You: The Musical. Based on Lauren Gunderson’s internationally acclaimed play I and You, the new musical reunites Gunderson with director Sarah Rasmussen, who helmed the play's original premiere in 2013 and now serves as McCarter's Artistic Director. The production runs September 13 through October 12, 2025.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents "Romeo & Juliet"  (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) presents Romeo and Juliet from September 10 to October 5, 2025 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University. This is one of the most enduring and influential tragedies in Western literature. Bridge Players Theatre Company presents "Sistas: The Musical". Wednesday, September 24 - 2025 Middlesex County Jazz Festival to Take Place September 24-28. (MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- The Middlesex County Jazz Festival will, for the third year in a row, present four free Jazz concerts in four Middlesex County towns, September 24-28, 2025. The producing organizations include the Borough of Carteret; the Metuchen Arts Council along with the Friends of Metuchen Arts; the New Brunswick Jazz Project; and Woodbridge Arts. This year’s offerings spotlight women in jazz as well as several of the towns excellent high school music programs. An important mission of MCJF is to promote music education.

Thursday, September 25 - An Evening with Ryan Reynolds & Friends Celebrating John Candy. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- On Thursday, September 25, 2025, award-winning actor, producer, and entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds will appear live at State Theatre New Jersey to host a special screening of John Candy: I Like Me. The event is part of a nationwide tour celebrating the life and legacy of beloved comedian John Candy. Showtime is 7:00pm.

The Broadway National Tour of "The Addams Family" comes to MPAC. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, the magnificently macabre hit musical The Addams Family comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for three performances September 26-27, 2025. A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, this is the magnificently macabre hit musical featuring everyone’s favorite creepy, kooky characters.

Friday, September 26 - Brilliant short Driving Lessons screens at the Fall 2025 New Jersey Film Festival Driving Lessons is truly a brilliant film conveying a message of hope and perseverance in the face of absurdity and evil. Taking a universal rite of passage, learning to drive, and using it as a vehicle to highlight the raw tragedy of occupied Ukraine is an incredible choice by director Anastasiya Gruba.

Friday, September 26 - Illuminating short documentary Where’s My Coffee Cup? screens at the at the Fall 2025 New Jersey Film Festival. Yehuda Sharim’s Where’s My Coffee Cup? is a short documentary that sheds light on the struggles of aging within Virginia prisons. The film focuses on John, a 64-year-old man who has been incarcerated for over thirty years. His story reveals how prison life becomes even harder as age and health problems set in. Sharim creates a deeply personal portrait representative of an often-ignored population through voiceover, performance, and imagery.

Friday, September 26 - McCarter Theatre Center presents Camille A. Brown & Dancers in "I AM". (PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center opens its fall presenting season on Friday, September 26, 2025, with Camille A. Brown & Dancers performing I AM. A five-time Tony Award nominee, Brown has redefined boundaries across dance, opera, and Broadway, bringing African American culture to the forefront with brilliance, depth, and joy. Her artistry has been showcased in productions such as Gypsy starring Audra McDonald, Alicia Keys' Hell's Kitchen, Terence Blanchard's Fire Shut Up in My Bones, and PBS’ Giant Steps.

Friday, September 26 - bergenPAC presents The Robert Cray Band on Friday. (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) presents The Robert Cray Band on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 8:00pm. Robert, a five-time Grammy Award winner, with 16 nominations is one of the most distinctive blues guitar stylists of his generation. Martha Redbone will open the night.

Saturday, September 27 - Leigh Pilzer: Hearing the Basie Band was Like 'a Bolt from the Blue'. Baritone saxophonist Leigh Pilzer likes to recall a scene in the movie, The Godfather, "where the son (Al Pacino), who falls in love in Italy, says, 'It was like a bolt from the blue.'" That's how Pilzer felt when she first heard the Count Basie big band.

Saturday, September 27 - Tanglewood Marionettes present "Perseus and Medusa". (MADISON, NJ) -- The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey (STNJ) welcomes back the acclaimed Tanglewood Marionettes for a thrilling and kid-friendly production of Perseus and Medusa on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre in Madison, NJ. This production marks the second collaboration between STNJ and Tanglewood Marionettes in the 2025 season. Showtime is 11:00am.

Saturday, September 27 - Jersey Arts Podcast: Legendary Arturo Sandoval Brings His Talent to Rutgers University to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Today we're speaking with trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval. He is a 10-time Grammy Award winner, an Emmy Award recipient, and a six-time Billboard Award winner. He also holds a Hispanic Heritage Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama, a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the prestigious Notre-Dame University, and was recently honored with a Grammy(R) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 and most recently, in 2024 he was one of the honorees of the Kennedy Center.

Saturday, September 27 - State Theatre New Jersey and Stress Factory Comedy Club present Comedy Night Live!. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey and Stress Factory Comedy Club present Comedy Night Live! on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 8:00pm. Tickets start at $30. The lineup features top talent including Mike Sicoli (Levity Live, FunnyBone), Jon Bramnick (Funniest Lawyer in New Jersey), Joey Kola (voted Best TV Comic five years in a row by Time Out NY magazine), and Vinnie Brand (Stress Factory).

Sunday, September 28 - Soulful documentary Cathy & Harry screens at the Fall 2025 New Jersey Film Festival. Artists Catherine Murphy and Harry Roseman are featured in Marta Renzi and Daniel Wolff's documentary Cathy & Harry in the midst of exhibitions, producing new work, and living together. They complement each other in their styles and concepts—Cathy in her representational painting and realism and Harry in his shapeshifting material pieces. Both are known for a meticulous, drawn-out work ethic and their love of each other. Shown in their home studios, galleries, public works and daily lives, we are given a glimpse of the process behind the product. The couple each tote prolific careers.

Sunday, September 28 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Ellis Paul on Sunday. (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents singer-songwriter Ellis Paul on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 7:30pm. Limited tickets remain.

Monday, September 29 - The Drew Forum at MPAC presents Mitt Romney. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Drew University has announced that Mitt Romney, former Senator and Republican nominee for President, will be the first speaker in the three-part 2025-2026 Drew Forum series at Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC). The event will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 7:30pm.

Wednesday, September 24 - Wellmont Theater presents The Revivalists. (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- RIAA multi-Platinum certified rock band The Revivalists are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough 2015 album, Men Amongst Mountains, with the 10th Anniversary Edition of the album and a US headlinging tour. Locally the tour comes to the Wellmont Theater on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Doors are at 7:00pm, showtime is 8:00pm. Nolan Taylor will open the night.

Wednesday, September 24 - 25 Years Of Bayside: The Errors Tour comes to The Stone Pony. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Esteemed punk band Bayside is celebrating their 25th anniversary with 25 years Of Bayside: The Errors Tour. With support by The Sleeping, the tour comes to The Stone Pony for shows on Wednesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 25th with songs from different albums performed each night. Doors are at 6:30pm.

Thursday, September 25 - Vaclav Havel Center to Honor Joan Baez with Lifetime Achievement Award at 2025 Gala. (NEW YORK, NY) -- The Vaclav Havel Center (VHC) in New York will present its most prestigious honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, to legendary singer, activist, and human rights advocate Joan Baez at its annual Gala on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Bohemian National Hall.

Friday, September 26 - The Newton Theatre presents Hollywood Nights - The Bob Seger Experience. (NEWTON, NJ) -- Hollywood Nights - The Bob Seger Experience comes to The Newton Theatre on Friday, September 26, 2025. This is the ultimate tribute to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Friday, September 26 - Latin Legends Tribute to Shakira and Selena Comes to The Strand Theater. Friday, September 26 - Albert Music Hall presents "Songwriters In The Pines Show". (WARETOWN, NJ) -- On Friday, September 26, 2025, Albert Music Hall will come alive with the sounds of American folk and bluegrass at the "Songwriters in the Pines Show." Headlining the evening is Cole Quest and the City Pickers, a spirited bluegrass band from New York led by the grandson of American folk icon Woody Guthrie. The performance is part of the group's tour for their newly released album, Homegrown, which weaves Guthrie's timeless songs with fresh originals.

(LAKEWOOD, NJ) -- The iconic horns, unforgettable melodies, and powerful rhythms of Chicago come alive on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 8:00pm, as Chicago 9 – Tribute to Chicago takes the stage at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood. Saturday, September 27 - New Jersey Festival Orchestra Opens Season with "The Gypsy Spirit"— Two Concerts, Two Unforgettable Programs. Sunday, September 28 - Jon Caspi & The First Gun to Celebrate EP release in Hazlet. Jon Caspi & The First Gun announce a new EP that will come out on Friday, September 26th on all streaming platforms. It features legendary singer- songwriter and renaissance artist, Dan Bern and other special guest performers. The New Jersey heartland rock, indie, punk and Americana band are taking the unique approach of releasing three separate EP's, spaced a few months apart and culminating in a full-length vinyl 12”, expected in early 2026, entitled Airport Plaza.

THEATRE

Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 12 through October 16, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Tales at the Dormer House" in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be inside. Cost is only $12.00, cash at the door, and guests at The Dormer House and children ages 12 and under are free.

"Heathers, the Musical" returns to NYC. (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers Bill Kenwright LTD., Paul Taylor-Mills and Jerry Goehring are pleased to announce that after smash hit runs in London and on tour throughout the UK, a new production of Heathers the Musical will make its eagerly awaited return to New York City in June.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Parade". (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents Parade weekends from September 5-28, 2025. mid religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension, the stirring Tony Award-winning musical explores the endurance of love and hope against all the odds. It features a book by Alfred Uhry and a rousing, colorful and haunting score by Jason Robert Brown.

Leslie Odom, Jr. to Return as Aaron Burr in "Hamilton". (NEW YORK, NY) -- Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated performer Leslie Odom, Jr. will make a highly anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. The original star is set to reprise his wildly successful and iconic portrayal of Aaron Burr, which comes nine years after he took his final bow in July 2016.

NJ Rep to present World Premiere of "Can't Run Can't Dance" by Gregg Henry. (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJRep) is proud to present the world premiere of Can’t Run Can't Dance, a wild new comedy by Gregg Henry - the prolific film and television actor best known for major roles in "Scandal," "Gilmore Girls," and Guardians of the Galaxy. This fresh theatrical caper, directed by Lisa James, will run from September 11 through October 5, 2025, with opening night set for Saturday, September 13 at 7:00pm.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "Guys and Dolls". (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Guys and Dolls weekends from September 12-28, 2025.  Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. It is often hailed as the perfect musical comedy.

Players Guild of Leonia presents "Red Speedo" to Open New Season. (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia is diving headfirst into their new season with Red Speedo, the razor-sharp, hilarious, and fast-paced play by acclaimed playwright Lucas Hnath (A Doll's House, Part 2). Nutley Little Theatre presents "Dog Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead". (NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre presents Dog Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead across three weekends - September 12-14, September 19-21, September 25-27, 2025. When his beloved beagle is destroyed after a rabid rampage, CB is plunged into such a depression that a literal raincloud starts to follow him around.

Burlington County Footlighters presents "Bat Boy: The Musical". (CINNAMINSON, NJ) -- Burlington County Footlighters presents Bat Boy: The Musical across 3 weekends from to September 12-27, 2025. Based on a story in The Weekly World News, thisis a musical comedy/horror show about a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia.

The Barn Theatre presents "The Cottage" by Sandy Rustin. (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- The Barn Theatre presents The Cottage by Sandy Rustin across 3 weekends from September 12-28, 2025. A romantic (and not quite murderous) comedy of manners. Inspired by Noël Coward, the play unfolds in the English countryside in 1923.

Playhouse 22 presents "If/Then". (EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22's 65th season opens with the musical "If/Then", a musical by Brian Yorkey with score by Tom Kitt. This is a contemporary musical that follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in this city of infinite possibilities. Performances run weekends from September 12-28, 2025.

Cape May Stage presents "Dutch Masters". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents Dutch Masters by Greg Keller from September 12 to October 19, 2025. Set in 1992 New York City, Dutch Masters is a thought-provoking play that follows a chance encounter between two young men—one Black, one white—on a subway ride.

Two River Theater presents Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Links". (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater presents the world-premiere of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Links, stylishly reimagined by Tony Award® winning director Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Featuring numerous Tony Award® winners and nominees, both on and off stage, the production will run in the Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater from September 13 - October 5, 2025.

Bergen County Players to Open Season with "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical". (ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will launch its 93rd season with the area premiere of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. This Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical phenomenon, based on the inspiring true story of the artist's remarkable journey from young songwriter to superstar solo artist, will run at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from September 13 through October 11, 2025.

Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents "Never Too Late" by Sumner Arthur Long. (HAMPTON, NJ) -- Hunterdon Hills Playhouse presents Never Too Late by Sumner Arthur Long from September 16 through October 18, 2025. This is a hilarious farce about a man in his fifties who suddenly learns he’s about to be a father again.

Philadelphia Theatre Company to Open Season with "Primary Trust". (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- What if the friend who saves your life was just a figment of your imagination? Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) opens its 51st season with the Philadelphia premiere of Primary Trust, the acclaimed play by 2024 Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Eboni Booth. Performances run September 19 through October 5, 2025.

SoHo Playhouse presents World Premiere of "(un)conditional" by Ali Keller. (NEW YORK, NY) -- SoHo Playhouse, in association with Hannah Jade Vickery, proudly presents the world premiere of its 2024 Lighthouse Series winner, Ali Keller's (un)conditional, directed by Ivey Lowe, running Off-Broadway September 19 – October 26, 2025 for 33 performances in a limited 6-week engagement at SoHo Playhouse, located at 15 Vandam Street in New York City.

Haddonfield Plays and Players presents "Rent" by Jonathan Larson. (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Jonathan Larson's Rent weekends from September 19 through October 4, 2025. Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today.

Playful Theatre Productions presents "The SpongeBob Musical" at Kelsey Theatre. (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Join Playful Theatre Productions on a trip to Bikini Bottom and "The SpongeBob Musical," September 19-28, 2025, when the Kelsey Theatre kicks off a season of "Matinee Masterpieces" on the West Windsor Campus of Mercer County Community College.

Theatre Horizon presents "Oedipus in Seattle". (NORRISTOWN, PA) -- Theatre Horizon, the award-winning professional theater nestled in the heart of Norristown's Arts Hill District, opens its 21st season with Oedipus in Seattle, an experimental theatrical adventure blending myth and romantic comedy in real time. Performances run September 24 through October 5, 2025.

Gateway Playhouse presents "Into the Woods". (SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- Following a tremendous response to auditions with more than 100 people vying for a role, Gateway Playhouse of Somers Point will present Stephen Sondheim's classic musical Into the Woods from September 25 through October 5, 2025 with two casts.

Phoenix Productions presents "Fiddler on the Roof". (RED BANK, NJ) -- Phoenix Productions presents Fiddler on the Roof at Count Basie Center for the Arts September 26-28, 2025. Winning nine Tony Awards in its 1964 debut, the classic musical is set in the little village of Anatevka in the early 1900s.

Apricot Sky Productions celebrates 25 years of quality theater with "The 25th Act". (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Apricot Sky Productions marks its 25th anniversary this fall with The 25th Act, a dynamic evening of eight original short plays written and directed by company founder Eric Alter.
