Premiere Stages presents "The Mallard" by Vincent Delaney  (UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages at Kean University presents the premiere production of The Mallard by Vincent Delaney from July 17-August 3, 2025 in Kean University's Bauer Boucher Theatre Center. The Mallard was the winner of the 2024 Premiere Play Festival. Directed by Premiere Stages Producing Artistic Director John J. Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "The Wizard of Oz". (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre is presenting the timeless musical The Wizard of Oz from July 12-27, 2025. Step into the magical world of Oz featuring all the beloved moments and iconic songs of the classic MGM film. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

Saturday, July 26 - Creativity Deep Dive: Class for Adults at Vivid Stage. (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, is offering a new creative class especially for adults over the last weekend in July. Creativity Deep Dive, taught by professor and playwright Phoebe Farber, is an opportunity for grown-ups to have the fun of exploring their own imaginations and creative potential. The class is offered from 10:00am-2:00pm on July 26 and 27; lunch will be provided.

Saturday, July 26 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Alexis P Suter Band on Saturday. (TUCKERTON, NJ) -- The Lizzie Rose Music Room presents Alexis P Suter Band on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 7:30pm. The band is touring in support of their latest album, Just Stay High, which was released on June 6th by Nola Blue Records.

Friday, July 25 - NJPAC presents Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band, Chicago. (NEWARK, NJ) -- Multi-Grammy award winning band and Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inductees Chicago are set to perform at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 8:00pm.

Saturday, July 26 - Centenary Stage Company presents Yacht Rock Gold Experience. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's 2025 Summerfest Series continues with a one-night-only concert event featuring Yacht Rock Gold Experience on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at Centenary University. The band celebrates the soft rock and smooth sounds of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Sunday, July 27 - Bergen County Parks Department presents Music At The Barn. (PARK RIDGE, NJ) -- Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of Commissioners invite the public to attend a free music concert featuring The Matt Chertkoff Trio and Houston Person on Sunday, July 27 from 4:00pm – 6:30pm at the Wortendyke Barn Museum, a County Historic Site (13 Pascack Rd, Park Ridge). This is the first concert in the 2025 music series.

THEATRE

Surflight Theatre presents "42nd Street". (BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre presents 42nd Street from July 8-27, 2025. Surflight's adaptation of the 1980 staged musical 42nd Street, based on the book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, directed and choreographed by Paula Hammons Sloan, takes us on the journey of Peggy Sawyer as she attempts to make her mark in the big apple. Jersey Arts TV: Princeton Summer Theater is Creating a New Take on a Classic Story with 'Frankenstein'. Classic literature is taking the stage with Princeton Summer Theater's production of "Frankenstein". This fresh take on the beloved classic takes the viewers on a journey to the past.

Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 12 through October 16, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Tales at the Dormer House" in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be inside. Cost is only $12.00, cash at the door, and guests at The Dormer House and children ages 12 and under are free.

Middlesex County Plays-in-the-Park Unveils Lineup for 2025 Summer Season. (EDISON, NJ) -- Middlesex County's Plays-in-the-Park returns this summer to the Stephen J. Capestro Theatre located at Roosevelt Park, presenting three popular Broadway musicals: Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Rent, and Grease.

"Heathers, the Musical" returns to NYC this summer. (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers Bill Kenwright LTD., Paul Taylor-Mills and Jerry Goehring are pleased to announce that after smash hit runs in London and on tour throughout the UK, a new production of Heathers the Musical will make its eagerly awaited return to New York City in June.

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" Returns to NYC for an Off-Broadway Run at The Gene Frankel Theatre. (NEW YORK, NY) -- After a critically acclaimed run in 2022, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance returns to The Gene Frankel Theatre for a limited Off- Broadway run. Thomas R. Gordon, Artistic Director of The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company, directs the production. The revival runs June 26 to July 26, 2025.

Music Mountain Theatre presents the Broadway hit "The SpongeBob Musical". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants of course! Now he's riding the wave to Music Mountain Theatre in this hilarious original musical, based on the TV series by Stephen Hillenburg. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble town, SpongeBob and his friends unite to save their undersea world. Plunge into this stunning show and discover how the power of optimism really can save the world!

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "The Wizard of Oz". (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum weekends from July 11-27, 2025. Based upon the Classic Motion Picture, it was adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company and features Music & Lyrics by Harold Arlen & E.Y. Harburg.

Without a Clue Productions presents "Mrs. Roper Romp" and "A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: A Family Affair" at Resorts Casino Hotel. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Without a Cue Productions heads to the Jersey Shore this summer with two cult classics coming to Atlantic City. Come for the caftan muumuus and stay for the Janet and Jack Tripper cocktails, as Mrs. Roper Romp brings the wild 70s fun to Resorts Casino Hotel. Don your best Mrs. Roper costume (and red curly haired wig!) and win fun prizes as you play party games and dance to Yacht rock inspired by the iconic hit show Three's Company. From the 70s to the 80s and early 90s, get ready to celebrate your favorite Golden Girls.

Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "Legally Blonde, the Musical". (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman is presenting Legally Blonde, The Musical from July 4-27, 2025. This is a fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, the musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

Cape May Stage presents "Sexy Laundry". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents Sexy Laundry by Michele Riml from July 16 through August 24, 2025. The relatable storyline follows Alice and Henry, a long-married couple, attempting to reignite the spark in their relationship by escaping to a trendy hotel with a copy of the book Sex for Dummies in hand.

NJ Playwright Duo to Receive NYC Premiere of New Historical Satire, "Sacco & Vanzetti are Dead". (NEW YORK, NY) -- Wayne natives Joey DeFilippis and Matthew Ferrara take to the page and stage with their latest endeavor: a satirical retelling of the historic trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants caught in the web of prejudice and political persecution during America's first "Red Scare". Sacco & Vanzetti are Dead will receive its New York City premiere this July at The American Theatre of Actors. DeFilippis and Ferrara conceived and wrote the play, and will also star as the titular characters.

NJ Rep Presents the World Premiere of "How My Grandparents Fell In Love". (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) presents the world premiere of How My Grandparents Fell in Love, a heartwarming and timely new musical by playwright Cary Gitter and composer Neil Berg, directed by NJ Rep Artistic Director SuzAnne Barabas. The production runs from July 17 through August 10, 2025.

Fool Moon Theatre presents Stephen Schwartz's Classic Musical "Pippin". (MARGATE, NJ) -- Fool Moon Theatre Company presents Stephen Schwartz’s classic musical Pippin across two weekends (July 18-20 and July 25-27, 2025) at Margate Community Church. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated circus-inspired version of Pippin continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world. It's South Jersey's must-see show for summer 2025.

LoMotion Live presents "The Diary of Anne Frank". (BOONTON, NJ) -- LoMotion Live is proud to present The Diary of Anne Frank, a play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman, based on the book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. The production runs from July 18-26, 2025 at The Parsippany Arts Center in Boonton.

Surflight's Children's Theater presents "The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition". (BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight children's theater has been eagerly waiting to take you down to the Bikini Bottom in The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition. Performances take place July 23-27 & August 13-17, 2025 at 6:00pm each night.

Two River Theater Announces "Be More Chill" 10th Anniversary Concerts. (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater is proud to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the World Premiere of Be More Chill, the hit Broadway musical, with two nights of concerts on July 24-25, 2025 at 8:00pm. With music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, book by Joe Tracz, and based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, Be More Chill was originally commissioned and produced by Two River, directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Chase Brock, on their Red Bank stage in 2015, and ran on Broadway in 2019.

Classic American Tales presents solo shows about Lincoln's assassination and Adam, "the first man," plus a workshop and lecture. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From July 24 through August 5, 2025, the nonprofit Classic American Tales (CAT) presents four different events in two different Cape May locations: The historic Dormer House B&B and The Cape May Public Library.

Bell Theater presents "Steel Magnolias" with Broadway Star-Filled Cast. (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- A beloved celebration of friendship and community, Steel Magnolias has become an American cultural classic on stage and screen. Robert Harling's original play comes to Bell Theater at Bell Works this summer with a starry cast of Broadway icons, including Charlotte D'Amboise, Amy Spanger, Nancy Opel, and Kathy Fitzgerald. This production of Steel Magnolias runs at Bell Theater at Bell Works in Holmdel from July 25 through August 10, 2025.

Chatham Playhouse to Host 31st Annual Jersey Voices: One-Act Festival. (CHATHAM, NJ) -- The Chatham Community Players (CCP) will host its 31st annual Jersey Voices One-Act Festival with six performances between July 25 and August 3, 2025. This year's production will include eight original short plays written by New Jersey playwrights.

Aspire PAC presents "Into The Woods, Jr.". (MONTVILLE, NJ) -- This July, Aspire Performing Arts Company will present the musical Into the Woods JR. at The Barn Theatre in Montville from July 25-27, 2025. Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking musical. This lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables features classic characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and the Witch.

Skyline Arts and Art House Productions present "13 Jr., The Musical". (JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Skyline Arts Summer Intensive Program (Grades 4-12) and Art House Productions present "13 Jr." The Musical from July 26-27, 2025. A true coming-of-age musical, 13 JR. is made especially for adolescents with a universal message about friendship and being true to yourself.

Nutley Little Theatre presents a reading of "Scrambled Eggs" by Jessica Marie Fisher. (NUTLEY, NJ) -- On Sunday, July 27, 2025, Nutley Little Theatre presents a reading of Scrambled Eggs by Jessica Marie Fisher. Directed by Arthur Carlson, the reading is free and open to the public. The reading begins at 2:00pm.

FILM

Wednesday, July 23 - The Williams Center to Screen "Wayward Kin" by David Joseph Volino. (RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- After a four-year-long production process, filmmaker and New Jersey native, David Joseph Volino, is sharing the full-length feature, Wayward Kin, with local audiences. See the film for one night only at The Williams Center in Rutherford on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The screening begins at 7:00pm with the cast and crew in attendance.

COMMUNITY

50th Monmouth County Fair to Take Place July 23-27. (FREEHOLD, NJ) -- The Monmouth County Fair is marking its 50th anniversary with opening night hot air balloon rides and a spectacular firework display (both are weather permitting). Held at East Freehold Showgrounds, Kozloski Road, Freehold, this year's event runs Wednesday-Sunday, July 23-27. Hours are 4:00pm-11:00pm Wednesday-Friday, July 23-25; 11:00am-11:00pm on Saturday, July 26; and 11:00am-6:00pm on Sunday, July 27.

Mercer County 4-H Fair to Take Place July 26-27. (HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- Mercer County Executive Dan Benson and Mercer County 4-H invite residents to showcase their creative talents and skills at the 106th Annual Mercer County 4-H Fair! The Fair is an inspirational community event, celebrating agriculture, innovation, and the talent of Mercer County residents. The fair takes place Saturday, July 26 from 10:00am to 8:00pm and Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission and parking are free to all attendees.

Saturday, July 26 - Carteret's Civic Center Park Hosts New Jersey's Most Popular Latin Fest on July 26th. (CARTERET, NJ) -- New Jersey's most popular Latin Fest will return on Saturday, July 26, 2025 to Carteret, but this year in a new location: the Borough's accessible Civic Center Park and Sports Complex at 272 Pershing Ave. The venue change is due to ongoing construction improvements to Waterfront Park, the home of Latin Fest since 2018.

Sunday, July 27 - Ready, Set, Eat - Monmouth County Fair's Pie-Eating Contest. (FREEHOLD, NJ) -- Taste some old-fashioned fun during the pie-eating contest held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the 50th Annual Monmouth County Fair. This fun and delicious tradition will once again use pies donated by Wemrock Orchards. Children age 12 and under will compete at 12:30pm and ages 13 and up at 12:45pm. On-site registration for both contests begins at 11:00am at the Main Stage. All participants receive a t-shirt to wear during the competition. Winners take home a trophy.
